Today I've ordered some seeds and a new headset from amazon.

Anyone else?

OP posts:
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 29/03/2020 20:20

A box of hair dye.

I don't remember it costing quite so much. A tenner!

AmberAndAlexsMum · 29/03/2020 20:20

A jigsaw board and a puzzle, because I've had enough of looking at screens.

Theresomethingaboutdairy · 29/03/2020 20:21

It's DD's birthday next week so I've ordered a gymnastics bar and mat, lol dolls, cry babies and a toilet trouble game 🤦‍♀️. Currently looking at some paint for the garden shed and fairy lights for the garden as well as possibly a lay z spa. I have a friend that delivers for Hermes, she is paid per delivery, she is worried about deliveries drying up at the moment. She said that she doesn't feel particularly vulnerable as it is now a case of just dropping the parcels outside peoples houses.

MissGuernsey · 29/03/2020 20:23

I think non essential deliveries and shopping should stop.
You have no regard at all for the warehouse operatives, delivery drivers and sometimes even international supply chain.

As long as your capitalism continues.

We are being offered overtime every day (mail distribution centre). Tis like Christmas with the amount of parcels!

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 20:27

That lazy spa will be a2 man lift and they will be forced to be closer than a metre together

Veronicat · 29/03/2020 20:28

A garden cultivator to finally start on my overgrown beds.

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 20:30

Yes we are being offered overtime too

But we are already doing the jobs of 2-3 people as 50% of our workforce is currently isolating. Can’t really do more hours,it’s exhausting and worrying as the gloves keep tearing and hand sanitizer as promised hasn’t materialised.

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 20:31

Those garden cultivators are also a 2 man lift. 2 to lift to pick it, 2 to load it,2 to deliver it.....how can they stay a metre let alone 2,apart?

AgentCooper · 29/03/2020 20:34

I’m trying to get stuff from wee indie shops to keep them going. I ordered two big bars of Tony’s Chocolonely for DH’s birthday the other night and was reading about the Tiree Tea Company this morning so am off to have a look at their website. Because I need really nice Earl Grey to keep me going.

Natsku · 29/03/2020 20:35

I just ordered some toys. But they're second hand so not sure it helps the economy much, but it helps the people that were selling them at least.

MissGuernsey · 29/03/2020 20:37

JustStayAtHome

We have hand sanitiser and plastic gloves but most people wear the blue fabric gloves. I wear the plastic ones under my blue gloves and then wash them on a high setting each day.

Lots of people off too! Have you noticed that the most affluent postcodes have the highest traffic?

Veronicat · 29/03/2020 20:40

@JustStayAtHome Sorry. Should have been clearer. Its one of these.

A coat and two
Pairs of shoes 🤭

richdotcom · 29/03/2020 20:42

A Mrs Potato Head

DHW1 · 29/03/2020 20:43

3 Safety gates and some child proof locks.. my LO has just learnt to crawl and is a curious Sally!

Daffie19 · 29/03/2020 20:47

I've ordered easter tree decorations 😂
Just to cheer us up. Going to make our little 2ft Xmas tree into an easter tree.
DS is 18 months so that's my excuse! Lol

pinkhousesarebest · 29/03/2020 20:47

This is such a depressing thread. So much for the hope that once this is over, when we had a chance to consider the repercussions of this, we could start again. Consume less. Be wiser. But no- just the same race to the bottom.

MugsOfTea · 29/03/2020 20:49

So much for the hope that once this is over, when we had a chance to consider the repercussions of this, we could start again. Consume less. Be wiser.

Who thought that?

If that was the kind of thing humankind did then there have already been ample opportunities to learn those lessons in history.

Laniakea · 29/03/2020 20:50

I ordered wine for my dad & some albums for my SIL ... both have birthdays next week. Before that I ordered dc3 & 4’s birthday presents (May, I’m not taking chances) & before that the Easter eggs for 4 dc. I’m fucked off that we’re in this ludicrous situation & I’m not going to make things worse for them in order to score sancti-points.

No more though sadly because we’re now an unemployed household. Thank you covid.

Ilovelala · 29/03/2020 20:51

Baby play pen, not essential technically but essential for my sanity anyway

Merename · 29/03/2020 20:52

@JustStayAtHome and @MissGuernsey, I’m interested how you guys are feeling reading this thread. I am, like others, of the view that all non essential deliveries should stop due to unnecessary risks to you guys and all involved. Also risks of asymptotic delivery staff spreading virus. Finding it a bit mad how happy people are on this thread to have bought frivolous things with no apparent thought about this stuff. But maybe you are happy with the overtime and feel it is worth the risk - I’m curious. Do you have a choice not to go to work if it doesn’t feel safe?

nolassie · 29/03/2020 20:53

Thank you to everyone still buying - my sales have been great this weekend and I’m so grateful as I’m supporting my family completely at the moment. (and unable to get any self employment help if I were to close)
Amazon stopped non essentials going into their warehouses on the 17th March until the 5th April. We had an email today to say some non essentials would be allowed (after the 5th I think )but most including mine are still barred for the foreseeable.

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 20:56

i agree, this is a good time to reassess.....less plastic useless pollution, less consumerism......but no

its never going to happen

greed comes first

SpeedofaSloth · 29/03/2020 20:57

Some books for DD, an SD card for DS.

CointreauVersial · 29/03/2020 20:57

I'm about to order a new nutmeg grater on Amazon, after my old one fell apart.

The very definition of non-essential.
