Today I've ordered some seeds and a new headset from amazon.

Anyone else?

@ohcarriemathison that made me laugh 😂 a curse nurse in the community ROFL 🤣
I ordered cat food but she's picky and it's out everywhere I look and a steam cleaner.... I'd class as essential those days things though, steam cleaner needed as cat roams and I need to make more of an effort cleaning and sanitising in the light of this Virus.....

HairyToity · 29/03/2020 22:27

I have in the last week bought some workbooks for home school and also downloaded Frozen 2.

MissGuernsey · 29/03/2020 22:29

@JustStayAtHome and @MissGuernsey, I’m interested how you guys are feeling reading this thread. I am, like others, of the view that all non essential deliveries should stop due to unnecessary risks to you guys and all involved. Also risks of asymptotic delivery staff spreading virus. Finding it a bit mad how happy people are on this thread to have bought frivolous things with no apparent thought about this stuff. But maybe you are happy with the overtime and feel it is worth the risk - I’m curious. Do you have a choice not to go to work if it doesn’t feel safe?

Are you a journalist? Smile

I was not working for a while (caring responsibilities) so am glad of a job. The endless job applications did take their toll! Funnily enough I have been offered two Civil Service jobs in the last month but they are on hold.

I am glad of the work and will take the risk for now. I walk to work late at night (I work nights) along the Capital Ring (the route is deserted). Rarely see a soul until I get to my workplace. However, a poster on here thought I should count my 30 minute (each way) walk to work as my daily exercise. Er no! I need to get out in the daylight for more than the 30 minutes it takes me to walk home. In the winter I only see light on a weekend. The same poster is probably buying plastic shite from China!

How do I feel about the folk on this thread buying frivolous items. Selfish arseholes who have scant regard for workers in the distribution chain. Selfish at worse. Naive at best. I think the former. The 'Stay the Fuck Home' brigade come out with lame excuses that they are keeping the economy going. If you want to do that buy a bloody voucher from your favourite shop!

waitingfor40 · 29/03/2020 22:29

I ordered some make up from Illamasqua because I was bored, god knows when I'll get to wear it tho Hmm

MayTheGodsBeEverInYourFavour · 29/03/2020 22:31

I ordered an Amazon Fire stick. All our DVDs are in a storage unit as we only just moved house & barely got our furniture in, in time. And a spade as the back garden is literally 50m of unturfed clay. I also bought some seeds for live mulch once we've dug it a bit, to (hopefully) make it a bit less floody, it was trying to flood through the back door as we were moving in a few weeks ago.

Pulppixies · 29/03/2020 22:31

nomdefuckit

Yeah, but they don't care

I do, I’d rather be at home

ProfessorPootle · 29/03/2020 22:33

High bar (gymnastics) and some board games for ds birthday end of April, need to order a mat for the high bar now

Chesneyhawkes1 · 29/03/2020 22:34

Since the lock down started I've ordered my sugar free coffee syrups, some running training, some comfy lounge wear. DH ordered a layzspa.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 29/03/2020 22:35

Oh and a treadmill but that hasn't arrived yet 😖

MissGuernsey · 29/03/2020 22:37

Stuckforthefourthtime

Agree totally. I work in mail distribution. The plastic shite coming in from China. I groan everytime I have to sort a trolley of it. Mind you some folk buy the shite all the year round. Cheapskakes who love to save pennies rather than go to Superdrug to buy a plastic comb hair grip.

Pigsnduvets

I agree. No snowflake here but is it necessary to add to the mail traffic by buying Easter fucking Tree decorations?

ChrissieKeller61 · 29/03/2020 22:37

A new trampoline we are going insane frankly, any entertainment is essential

MissGuernsey · 29/03/2020 22:39

Chesneyhawkes1

Hope you enjoy your treadmill. I am a runner. Your treadmill will need two people to lift it. They won't be 2m apart either.

Pigsnduvets · 29/03/2020 22:41

MissGuernsey

I am sorry for virtually snapping. I think I’m losing the plot now and that’s not your fault (obviously!)

My postie and the local MyHermes lady said both were very very quiet! I assumed it was Nationwide and both were happily delivering.

No idea why people are ordering from China though!! Shock

Chesneyhawkes1 · 29/03/2020 22:42

@MissGuernsey if it ever arrives I'm sure I will

Chesneyhawkes1 · 29/03/2020 22:42

And I don't know why you being a runner has anything to do with it 🤷🏼‍♀️

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 22:43

@ChrissieKeller61 essential?? dont be bloody stupid a fricking trampoline isn't essential!!

not only are you putting extra unnecessary strain on the distribution chain, you are risking injury on the thing putting more strain on our NHS......plain selfish and stupid!

MabelMoo23 · 29/03/2020 22:52

Trampoline and treadmill???

People buying baby clothes for impending arrivals, I get it. Something that one single person can pick and pack.

But a fucking trampoline and treadmill ???

jmh740 · 29/03/2020 22:56

Nail varnish remover

Thismummyruns · 29/03/2020 22:56

Baby gates as the little bugger darling is on the move.

Runnerduck34 · 29/03/2020 22:56

Compost and sunflower seeds from our local independent garden centre, paid over the phone, contactless delivery , i need the compost ( well maybe its not essential but gardener in me thinks it is!) and they need the business.
This thread has cheered me up!
I noticed amazon is out of some medicines, sanitary pads, make up etc and is offering delivery dates at end of april for some products as well as inflated prices, so it hasnt been a lot of good to me recently.

Merename · 29/03/2020 22:56

@MissGuernsey Haha, no not a journalist, although I can see why you might ask that now I re read that! I suppose I was kind of leaning towards the most folk are naive rather than selfish and hoping to diplomatically stimulate them to think about this from the position of folk like you. And the contact workers like you will have with their granny etc who is isolating. People aren’t usually open to adopting a new point of view when threatened so I was trying to adopt a breezy yet informative tone (clearly not that effective Grin)

HopingItsNot · 29/03/2020 22:57

Must we be subjected to the competitive virtue signalling at every turn? It gets very wearing after a while.

Nollett · 29/03/2020 23:01

What on earth does “competitive virtue signalling” mean Confused

I’ve bought some books for homeschooling & well done stickers for encouragement

OnTheMoors · 29/03/2020 23:03

Wireless Bluetooth keyboard for Ds to play Minecraft with friends, as he only has a mobile phone (no console) but can't get the thing to work !

Daisiest · 29/03/2020 23:06

BIL is a delivery driver, he has no issues delivering essentials but was getting proper fucked off that people are happy to risk his life and those of his colleagues by ordering some crap from ASOS etc.

My Dsis actually cried when Next announced they were closing as he will be that bit safer.

But carry on, you will anyway.
