I ignore all the Boris haters on this nasty thread

Boris was talking about handshaking being fine a while ago.
People would have heard that.
They would have carried on handshaking because of the message he sent out.

How many people would have been infected and died because of that message he sent out?

He is the Prime Minister. He has responsiblity.

DowntownAbby · 27/03/2020 18:10

Oh give up @alloutoffucks

It's not the time.

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 18:12

Prime Minister gets infected, lefty whining ensues. It’s like clockwork...

ButteryPuffin · 27/03/2020 18:18

It's exactly the time to ask what we can and can't post when MN have said posts were deleted because of their references to the PM lying about this issue. Parliament doesn't allow for accusations of MPs lying in the chamber but I thought MN had a teeny bit more latitude for discussion.

What do you think of his comments on handshaking?
What do you think of the UK preparations since we knew about the virus?

alloutoffucks · 27/03/2020 18:20

@CendrillonSings Go away with your lazy stereotyping. I am not a lefty. I wish Theresa May was still PM.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 27/03/2020 18:28

I know its very very difficult for some people on the thread to get their heads round this

But its perfectly possible to think johnson is a complete and utter twat and hate what the tory party have been doing lately and have voted tory right up until the last election

Despising the current tory party, Or at least some of its members and policies does not mean you support labour

And ...get this, You’ll like this...not a lot, it’s also possible not to vote tory or labour. I mean...who fucking knew Right?? Grin

BrexpatInSwitzerland · 27/03/2020 18:28

I ignore all the Boris haters on this nasty thread.

Boris can go fuck himself! And I mean that in the kindest way imaginable!

I've had to make 20 of my people redundant today. My child is ill (not COVID-19 and, thank goodness not serious) and hundreds of miles away - and I can't get to her. Two of my friends have family stuck in places from where they cant get out. And ...

One of my colleagues lost his father today!

So, really, Boris has the best health care imaginable at his disposal. And he's forever lost any respect I may ever have had for him wit his "let's go for 'acceptable number of dead people to save the GDP'" type initial response. He may have relented, but he was too late to save himself from forever being an irredeemable arsehole in my mind.

Boris will be just fine! Good! This means he'll have a lot more time to realise just how utterly odious he is!

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 27/03/2020 18:29

Oh and fingers crossed its not serious

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 27/03/2020 18:30

wit his "let's go for 'acceptable number of dead people to save the GDP'" type initial response

One assumes he didnt mean for himself to be included in that ‘acceptable number’

(And again for the hard of thinking...fingers crossed its not serious’

jasjas1973 · 27/03/2020 18:32

My Aunt, true tory, bleeds blue, former barrister, thinks John Mcdonald would be the best leader we could have at this time, with Sunak as deputy.

She ain't wrong.

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 18:33

My apologies to all. How about ‘Whining ensues from lefties plus a few disgruntled conservatives who may or may not have voted Lib Dem?’ Wink

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 18:34

She ain't wrong.

That’s because “wrong” is inadequate to describe the depths of that particular error...

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 27/03/2020 18:35

plus a few disgruntled conservatives who may or may not have voted Lib Dem?

And youre still wrong cenderillon Grin

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 27/03/2020 18:36

Though I doubt thats come as a surprise to many people Wink

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 27/03/2020 18:38

Oh that was mean 😳

I’m sure you are right about some stuff cenderillion

chomalungma · 27/03/2020 18:40

y apologies to all. How about ‘Whining ensues from lefties plus a few disgruntled conservatives who may or may not have voted Lib Dem

So no comment on his views on hand shaking nor the Government's dismal failure to prepare - because we were probably distracted by a bung for Brexit?

Your silence when challenged is predictable

Alsohuman · 27/03/2020 18:41

I’m sure you are right about some stuff cenderillion

A stopped clock is right twice a day.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 27/03/2020 18:48

Fair point alsohuman

I wasn’t actually going to stretch it to twice a day...but ok

alloutoffucks · 27/03/2020 18:50

I am not a Conservative supporter either. I am your classic floating voter. But I can read articles and analysis and see what makes sense.

VegetableMunge · 27/03/2020 18:54

Someone dares point out an objectively poor decision by a Tory politician, the usual suspects turn up yarning on about whining lefties to try and distract from the issue at hand, regular as clockwork.

alloutoffucks · 27/03/2020 18:56

The response to this virus in Britain is a disaster. People will die because of it. It really does not take a great deal of reading and analysis to see that.

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 19:26

Which countries have not had a disastrous response in your view? Of comparable European countries, only Germany is doing noticeably better than we are.

StirCrazed · 27/03/2020 19:34

But we sat back and watched! We had weeks to prepare whilst watching Italy suffer. Anyway, no point trying to convince people. You can either see it or you can't

chomalungma · 27/03/2020 19:38

This is not whataboutery

This is about the UK. We had the time to get things better than they are now.

And Boris Johson saidL

In the early days of March, Mr Johnson appeared to have a casual attitude towards the virus as European leaders began warning their citizens to stop unnecessary social contact when greeting people.

At a press conference on 3 March - when the UK had less than 100 cases - he told reporters he was still shaking hands and insisted washing your hands was the “crucial thing” to avoid contracting the virus.

“I was at a hospital the other night where I think there were actually a few coronavirus patients and I shook hands with everybody, you’ll be pleased to know, and I continue to shake hands,” Mr Johnson said.

Mr Hancock also said the impact of shaking hands was “negligible” and argued it was okay to shake someone’s hand so long as you washed your hands “more often”.

However, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has asked people to “avoid shaking hands” to protect themselves and others from Covid-19.

What message did that send out to fans of Boris - like yourself?
