Any updates on how your consultant DH earns enough to pay half a million in tax a year?

7Days · 31/03/2020 15:53

How 'demonstrably false' Circus?

Cant believe I'm feeding, but how and ever. Show your workings.

KOKOagainandagain · 31/03/2020 16:37

@RunningAwaywiththeCircus - I in no way agree with your general assumptions but I do recognise the frustrations of a parent trying to advocate for their SEN DC.

So, for your son's sake - it is par for the course for a LA to ignore private diagnosis (presumably this is for a full needs assessment/EHCP). They (unlawfully) require NHS diagnosis. Appeal to tribunal. Because by law the LA have to accept private diagnosis (from someone authorised to diagnose) referral to an NHS consultant will be fast-tracked by the LA who need evidence to justify their non-action in a court of law.

As another non-Brit I have to agree with @RunningAwaywiththeCircus, I don’t understand the sentimental attachment to the NHS. It is sub-par compared to my home country and as a result I have kept mostly to the private system the past few years — even my GP.

It can be so much better. The current system is two-tiered — those who can afford private care get outstanding quality of care, the majority do not. Look at our cancer survival rates here, very low within the OECD.

Alsohuman · 31/03/2020 17:03

For those who fail to understand the British love and respect for the NHS, this might give you a clue.

You lucky thing having a great national health service. What country ?

MrsKypp · 31/03/2020 17:12

Lots of countries have a better national health service that provides health care to all of its residents.

The funding will vary, but examples include Germany, France, Belgium, South Korea and Japan.

In Germany, for example, you just present your card whenever you get health care. It looks like a credit card, but the insurance pays. You don't. Everyone has insurance cover, including unemployed people. Also, pre-existing conditions are always covered. Insurance payments are taken from your salary and your employer also contributes. If you earn a lot, then you are in a different system, but to be honest the basic one is fine e.g. you can go to specialists directly, no waiting lists etc

defthand · 31/03/2020 17:18

I’m Australian. I didn’t say it was “great” just better. Better outcomes for cancer patients, longer appointments with GPs, etc. I also lived in the Netherlands for three years, and I think things worked a touch better there, too.

No healthcare system is perfect.

You get what you pay for. We pay less.

It’s really quite a simple point

You’d think....and yet you seem to be extrapolating your experience with the NHS as proof that it is all fundamentally flawed. Which I’m sure you agree is foolish.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 31/03/2020 18:11

and I wrote £100k, which has been extrapolated to £500k by one of the pile-on merchants upthread

I don’t think you are reading people’s posts

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 31/03/2020 18:11

Bold fail

Don’t you hate that...

Alsohuman · 31/03/2020 18:20

Nobody’s insulted you for being an immigrant @RunningAwaywiththeCircus. I have commented on your rank hypocrisy, contempt for the organisation which supplies a substantial slice of your income and resentment that no amount of money will allow you to buy a place at the front of the queue.

LaurieMarlow · 31/03/2020 18:25

You said you were contributing 100k to the NHS.

Given that only 20% of your tax would go to that, then a cool half a million was the obvious conclusion.

Still love to know what he’s doing to ge liable for so much tax.

Walkingtohealth · 31/03/2020 18:43

Runningawaywiththecircus come and post in the SEN chat threads. Many of us will understand your frustrations.

I adore the NHS for the fact that people don’t lose their homes as a result of health costs. However I have friends in Europe (Gemany) where it just seems to operate more efficiently. ..they also don’t lose their homes over health costs.

Badly put but you get my drift.

And yes you did insult me for being an immigrant - which is discriminatory and racist - to the effect that I was cheeky for coming here to earn so much money

No I didn’t. Read what I wrote, not what you think I wrote.

I will let him know that a load of internet randoms are delighted that his SN are getting worse because of unacceptable delays, because as hard working taxpayers we are simply here to fund the NHS without complaint, not to expect any service in return

Oh what nonsense. At the same time tell him his mother has major issues with comprehension

LaurieMarlow · 31/03/2020 19:56

If you can’t read what I wrote, then I can’t help you. Good to know the UK appreciates it’s (few) net contributors though!

So full of crap

I’m far from being leftie and a higher rate tax payer myself.

Well said, RunningAwaywiththeCircus - well said!
