So BoJo has COVID-19!

OP posts:

Lots of people saying Prince Charles should not have been tested despite being in a high risk age group but everyone perfectly happy that a 55 year old, so not a high risk group must be tested. Mumsnet is full of bots and journalists these days, all with their own agenda.

Boris said himself he had a continuous cough then made a broadcast with no sign of a cough at all, never mind a "continuous" cough. He has a history of repeatedly lying. He doesnt look well but if people question whether anything he says can be trusted its hardly surprising.

The "Boris is a saint" bots want to hide/ distract from the truth his inaction has put people in the position where they may not get a ventilator if they need it, operations that are badly needed but not actually life saving are cancelled and the NHS is barely scraping by with worse to come.

I hope he doesnt become ill enough to deprive someone else - maybe one of the doctors trying desperately to save people - of a ventilator.

And since everyone seems to be forgetting Matt Hancock - he was NOT said to have a mild case, so hope he also does and can self-isolate at home.

Stay home and stay safe.

Afternoon, everyone.

We've deleted a few posts on this thread. Some sounded fairly dodgy and possibly not genuine to us (and we don't want Prince Andrew to read on here that he's now third in line to the throne and get all over excited. Pizza Express can't take the strain right now). Then there were a few that we didn't think were in the spirit of the site.

While this is clearly a big story and we understand there's much to discuss, we think some of the posts that were rather baldly accusing the PM of outright lying about having the virus felt just a little bit much.

We don't want to have to take threads down if we can help it so if you could tone down some of those posts a bit that would be really helpful. Thanks!

EerieSilence you said "...he's become part of his UK herd immunity project......... "

The herd immunity approach which was abandoned.

Dr Hilary Jones scoffed at the Irish government's approach of closing the schools and lockdown, stating it was because the Irish didn't have a health service. Shock. Untrue.
The British government then followed the Irish approach.

I feel sorry for BJ's ex wife- she has had cancer recently and has had to live with another the engagement/ pregnancy announcement.
I'm sure the children visit / stay with both parents so it is worrying for them all.

LittleRootie · 27/03/2020 15:21

I hope he recovers well but he has certainly not done a 'stellar job'. Nowhere near. The financial measures taken to help people have been very good, if patchy, but they could have avoided so much of this anguish and devastation by taking measures way back in early January when the warning signs were all there.

In particular, they should have been testing and not simply allowing people from heavily affected countries to fly in and go straight out into the population with no protective measures.

@LadyEloise I'm sorry you failed to see the sarcasm in my post.

Remember Dominic Raab is the 'Designated Survivor'.

Anyone not cheering on Boris's recovery needs to reflect on this. Raab being the man who described support for the disabled as a 'childish wish list'.

LadyEloise · 27/03/2020 15:56

EerieSilence I did.

Chris Whitty self isolating now

Chris Whitty self isolating now

Well, they've all done a great job of social distancing, infection control and hand washing haven't they? Superb.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 27/03/2020 16:24

Ffs this is all we need, let's hope his deputy is OK and that they all make a quick delivery.

Fairywater · 27/03/2020 16:29

How come Boris and Matt have been tested? When they dasi that testing wasn't needed? Hmm

Love the dig, Alan just made '' Boris going round shaking the hands of corona virus patients... No its not much of a surprise that he's caught it ''

😂

Marcon even has a pen wiper, what's old Boris got!!

Lifesavesocialdistance · 27/03/2020 16:34

The herd immunity approach was abandoned after sterling efforts to enforce it.

Ie massive international fixtures.

Race meets, schools, colleges...

"we don't want Prince Andrew to read on here that he's now third in line to the throne and get all over excited. Pizza Express can't take the strain right now"

@HebeMumsnet I love your style 😂

BigChocFrenzy · 27/03/2020 16:49

"let's hope his deputy is OK"

That's Dr Jennie Harries, deputy CMO England ..... who did Wednesday's MN Webchat
She did a good job there and seemed on the ball.

extrastrongmints · 27/03/2020 16:50

For some reason the footage of Cummings taking to his heels and fleeing Downing street made me think of ...

Brave Sir Robin ran away.
Bravely ran away away.
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
Swiftly taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!

Gove is leading the daily briefing - should be interesting...

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 27/03/2020 17:02

Anyone know what's happening in Liverpool, 2 weeks after those possibly contagious Spanish football fans came over in throngs?

LittleRootie · 27/03/2020 17:04

And in the background Cummings saying 'I didn't!' 'I never!' I never did!'

1forsorrow · 27/03/2020 17:12

wait until you are the one with the virus and needing medical help. Well I'm over 65 so I don't think I'm getting any help am I?

MaxNormal · 27/03/2020 17:15

we think some of the posts that were rather baldly accusing the PM of outright lying about having the virus felt just a little bit much.

Really? He's actually literally a proven habitual liar, it's not a massive stretch.

1forsorrow · 27/03/2020 17:17

I was despairing at how close they were all stood together at the press conferences! Delatron don't worry, IDS said it was OK because they wren't facing each other. I hadn't seen that advice before but it was obviously kept for "those in the know."
