So BoJo has COVID-19!

OP posts:

Am shocked at Some of the vile comments on here...Boris and co are trying their best to help each and every one of you . Is this how you teach your kids to be kind?! I hope that anyone who gets this awful virus recovers well regardless of your political leanings!

ErrolTheDragon · 27/03/2020 13:33

That procedure generally follows a general election and supposes agreement on the appointment of a Prime Minister and a living Queen.

No; it follows parties kicking out their leaders mid term eg thatcher. It requires a living monarch; there is a long and clear line of succession.

chomalungma · 27/03/2020 13:34

I do think Trump, by stopping flights from China in particular, has handled the crisis with more success. Per capita infections are much lower in the US

Well that's a whole new thread, isn't it.

Where is the epicentre now?

How are the populated cities doing? How are the ventilators doing? Are the individual States competing against each other for supplies? What was it Trump said a few weeks ago about just a few cases?

Trump wants this advert banned

VegetableMunge · 27/03/2020 13:34

Boris trying to help each and every one of us? Not really. I want him to recover quickly as I do all coronavirus cases, but that's just not true.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/03/2020 13:35

The monarch selects from the suggested names (usually it's just one), if the HoL didn't agree they could reject it.

AmanjoinsMn and tries to pontificate Hmm

PerkingFaintly · 27/03/2020 13:36

You also have a delicate issue because, similarly to communist China, your forces belong to the Crown and not the country.

So, you're not a British citizen after all.

Or you'd have said "our forces", not "your forces."

VegetableMunge · 27/03/2020 13:37

Da, perkingfaintly. I noticed that too!

Also, for anyone tempted to worry about any of this sudden arrival's shitstirring:

www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/explainers/appointment-prime-ministers

What happens when a prime minister resigns mid-term?
If the government hold a majority, it is for the party or parties in government to identify the successor.
If a prime minister resigns and the party in government does not have a majority, it becomes more complicated. If a clear alternative is likely to be able to command confidence, then this only needs to be made clear to the Palace.

The Tories have a stonking majority. So, no issue.

Xiaoxiong · 27/03/2020 13:39

Did anyone just see the clip of Dominic Cummings running away from Downing Street just before they confirmed Bojo and Hancock had covid19? I thought it was an exaggeration when I clicked on the video on twitter but he was literally running away.

yesterdayhasgone · 27/03/2020 13:40

A lot of these threads prove to me how easy it is for the government to lie and fool the public. I refuse to take anything politicians and members of the royal family say as gospel. They lie to suit their agenda, Makes me laugh at the shock, horror from posters if you suggest any of them would lie. I don’t trust any of them, they’re concerned only for themselves.

manjoinsmn · 27/03/2020 13:40

So, you're not a British citizen after all.

Or you'd have said "our forces", not "your forces."

This is infantile. If you have nothing to say on the issue and are only capable of personal attacks, you could at least stop interrupting.

Ks0708 · 27/03/2020 13:41

The actual issue will be the practicalities if this runs rampant through government and the potential of it panicking our easily panicked nation. We'll have someone as PM either way.

nancy75 · 27/03/2020 13:43

Can someone delete the full of shite American trollbot manjoinsmb Clearly knows nothing about how our govt works or the about the Royal family. It’s very irritating.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/03/2020 13:43

, it has operated by consensus.

Yeah, we've been operating on that basis for centuries with a constitutional monarchy since Charles I got too uppity. Don't fret, we'll muddle through on that front.

Do carry on, you're probably doing less damage here than if you find a more gullible and less educated crowd.

Bubblebu · 27/03/2020 13:43

hat-trick

Cummings.

VegetableMunge · 27/03/2020 13:43

American troll? My guess is Russian.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 27/03/2020 13:44

I though the news would produce some very unpleasant people

PerkingFaintly · 27/03/2020 13:45

Oh Xiaoxiong please share!

I'm sure it's not specially relevant, 'cos Cummings runs away from journalists and scrutiny all the time, interspersed with parroting his slogans at them. But I want to see it anyway.Grin

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 27/03/2020 13:45

I can't stand the man (well, he was OK on "Have I Got News For You") or his policies, but I do hope he recovers quickly and well and hasn't passed it on to his pregnant paramour.

What a complete and utter wanker. He should be in self-isolation straight away, having presumably been in close contact with two confirmed cases - instead he literally runs away, potentially infecting people he comes into contact with.

Wannabangbang · 27/03/2020 13:47

I do think action is too late, the world knew this was coming and Boris knew way before us. It's only now the s* has hit the fan were actions made. On the 3rd of March he quoted he would still shake hands, look where it's got him!!!

Have zero trust in the government and im truly scared for us all should he succumb to this virus. The whole government are probably all infected by now. What hope do we have

Ventilators and ppe equipment should have been sorted out and manufactured all the way back last year when china started with it. Our borders were open to this happening, it was only a matter of time.

This could have been avoided by closing every single god damn border the minute China got bad but no, even now people are flying in and out will nilly. So even if this disaster ever gets better it only takes an infected person from anywhere abroad to bring it back again.

Scary scary times

alloutoffucks · 27/03/2020 13:48

"I’m shaking hands continuously. I was at a hospital the other night where I think there were actually a few coronavirus patients and I shook hands with everybody, you’ll be pleased to know. I continue to shake hands."
