So BoJo has COVID-19!

OP posts:
user1471439240 · 27/03/2020 12:35

It is no surprise. Millions of people will of had or will have this. The PM would have been tested, just the same as the Royal Family and other important dignitaries, high ranking police and civil servants.

Walkingtohealth · 27/03/2020 12:36

I hope his illness remains mild. I wish the same for everyone affected by it.
Wouldn't wish the ill effects on my worst enemy.

Wondered why he wasn't there last night.

Bubblebu · 27/03/2020 12:36

The "shock" is ridiculous.
He has MILD symptoms and the best private healthcare in the UK (if not on the planet).
He will definitely survive. PR stunt.

DailyKegelReminder · 27/03/2020 12:37

*Why are people asking why he is getting tested while others aren’t?

Is it not obvious.....he is the Prime Minister!

Just like Charles is next in line to the throne!

How fucking difficult is it to work that out? *

Its not fucking difficult to work out, it is fucking difficult to work out why frontline NHS staff aren't being tested, or being told to self isolate etc. Of course he should be tested, along with everyone else who is incredibly important in fighting this.

Aragog · 27/03/2020 12:37

@aragog Officially we are told the symptoms include a continuous cough.

That still doesn't mean coughing every minute of every day though.

Seriously, I have had a pneumonia cough - which is apparently similar to the type they are talking of - and as said before, it varied throughout the day and was better when I was sat still. Stood or laying down was worst.

StirCrazed · 27/03/2020 12:37

(His name is Al, Alexander)

TheLadyAnneNeville · 27/03/2020 12:37

@LittleDragonGirl... yes, I hear you and agree. We’ve wasted millions on Brexit. Mr Johnson wasted millions (spiffed it up the wall) on a garden bridge/water cannon/side of a bus.

Bet The Tories collectively wish all that cash hadn’t been squandered.

UYScuti · 27/03/2020 12:38

If an OP doesn't engage with their own thread the thread should be pulled
I also think we need some rules along these lines 🤔

JingsMahBucket · 27/03/2020 12:38

@Eireni
schadenfreudesque cackle

I LOVE THIS. May I use it please?! It will be going into all my daily conversations about similar bastards like BJ.

LittleDragonGirl · 27/03/2020 12:38

Tbh I feel the queen right how is the only one following the advice that has been preached to the general public. She locked herself away and limited contact and pulled out of public engagements.

Everyone else seems to have been behaving as if the rules didnt apply to them, and low and behold this happens and the "most important" man in the UK has now become ill with the very illness hes supposed to be limiting the spread of.
Someone with that much money and power easily had the options of doing everything remotely as they will have had the money to.fund and the tech experts to advise and honestly how on earth people expect most the population to take seriously the risk of Covid when those wr look up.to arent following their own advice is beyond me.

The UK's response to covid has been a train wreck from the start. Our fatality figures should and could look like Germany's with the correct guidence and money put into the right places. But it dosent, as instead it highlights just how undervalued the NHS has been for 10 years, it has shown through the NICE guidelines how expandable disabled, disordered and chronically ill people really are considered.
Its truly embarrassing.

Mittens030869 · 27/03/2020 12:38

Meanwhile, across London, a 36 year old mother of 3 is dead without even getting help from 111.

That's awful, I hadn't heard that. Sad

But I haven't even been examined by a doctor except over the phone, despite having breathing difficulties on and off. I know they're over-stretched, but I'm afraid that more people could well die in the same way if it goes on like this.

cornishdreams1 · 27/03/2020 12:39

And would YOU rather ran the country then Eireni?

Jeremy Corbyn? The very same pensioner the other day that couldn't even manage to say the word Coronavirus? JC called it coronas virus in the PM questions, and you really think he will be the perfect person to lead the fight do you?

Seriously?

Do you expect anyone to take this seriously or are you just posting for kicks?

AnneJeanne · 27/03/2020 12:40

Hopefully Carrie has been self-isolating at Checkers or somewhere other than grand central Downing Street.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/03/2020 12:41

I thought that one of the rules on here was that everyone has, and is entitled to, their own opinion

In theory perhaps, but in practice it's constrained by the opinions of those who actually run the show

The hateful comments on here are sadly no surprise, but personally I wish a quick recovery to everyone who's got the virus, Boris included

february08baby · 27/03/2020 12:41

I hope Carrie and the baby will be okay.

And the Queen. She's high risk now too. I bet she gets tested or has been tested

Iwalkinmyclothing · 27/03/2020 12:41

In a country of around 65 million people, I am sure I could find at least 10 million better suited to running it than Boris Johnson. If you're so limited of imagination you assume that anyone who doesn't want Johnson as leader must automatically think it should be Corbyn, well, you can be crossed of the list of "people who would make an alright job of it" easily enough :)

cornishdreams1 · 27/03/2020 12:42

bubble You can't 'buy' your way out of corona, you either recover well or you don't. The best healthcare in the universe won't stop you ending up on a ventilator battling for your life if your body can't fight it.

Even you must know that.

Bluntness100 · 27/03/2020 12:43

I also he makes a swift recovery, irrelevant of your politics, he’s human and he’s doing everything he can to manage an unprecedented situation and the economy.

No one should be laughing that someone is sick and doing so says more about the person who is laughing than they would like us to know.

chomalungma · 27/03/2020 12:43

I do wish him a speedy recovery.

However:

This is also the same person who only a few weeks ago was happily shaking hands with people and making a point about it.

LONDON (Reuters) - Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday that coronavirus would not stop him greeting people with a handshake, adding that he had shaken the hands of everyone at a hospital where infected patients were being treated.

Johnson was speaking at the announcement of Britain’s plan to deal with the expected spread of the virus, which included a warning that as many as one in five employees could be off work at the peak of the outbreak.

The global death toll from the virus is over 3,000, prompting a range of official, and sometimes contradictory, advice on how to prevent its spread.

France recommended last week that people do not shake hands to prevent the spread of the virus, while Switzerland has said its residents should consider dropping the everyday greeting of kissing each other on the cheek.

Johnson however, exhibited no such caution.

“I’m shaking hands,” Johnson said when asked how he planned to handle visiting dignitaries.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 27/03/2020 12:43

Ahh now, @LittleDragonGirl you have made me cross. The Queen!!? 😡. Whilst I don’t wish a 93 yr old lady any harm... she’s in a slightly different position to every other bloody person in the UK. Get a grip.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/03/2020 12:43

If an OP doesn't engage with their own thread the thread should be pulled

Let's be fair - I agree it's annoying if the OP never returns, but they only posted 90 minutes ago and could be doing anything

Bubblebu · 27/03/2020 12:45

Yes of course cornishdreams1 I know that money does not guarantee you immunity.
However the hypocrisy of the PM is alarming.
Even you must know that.

Bubblebu · 27/03/2020 12:45

I am still very certain BJ will survive this.

alloutoffucks · 27/03/2020 12:45

@Aragog There is no evidence of a cough or breathlessness at all when he is speaking. He is not lying down. He is sitting up talking and sounds like he is breathing is totally unaffected.

I have no idea if he is lying or not. But i also think those saying he seems ill and are talking rubbish. He looks exactly the same as he has for quite a few days.

MaxNormal · 27/03/2020 12:46

Why are people banging on about Corbyn? it's totally irrelevant. Some people are obsessed.
