So BoJo has COVID-19!

However the hypocrisy of the PM is alarming

This.

All his talking about how he was still shaking hands.

I have sympathy for him. I have more sympathy for people who have been trying to do the right thing but catch it. I have more sympathy for NHS workers who are on the front line with limited resources.

cornishdreams1 · 27/03/2020 12:47

iwalk Last time I checked we only had two leaders of two main parties that could run the country (not a population of 65 million to choose from I may add) and until that changes the choice was a flat decision between Boris and Corbyn in December.
Thank goodness the people of this good country had the sense to put someone in charge that could at least say the word coronavirus!!!!!

:) Go Boris! You will be back old chap and fitter than ever.

1forsorrow · 27/03/2020 12:49

He can hardly just SI in bed for a week like most Well he has to SI for a week, the rules apply to him as much as anyone.

I heard IDS on Sky news. He was asked about Boris being to close to people at the daily press conferences. He said it was OK as they weren't facing each other. Madness.

1980sQueen · 27/03/2020 12:52

So have we. Not pleasant at all.

whatdayisitandotherquestions · 27/03/2020 12:52

bubble You can't 'buy' your way out of corona, you either recover well or you don't

You can buy your way to accessing a ventilator if you're Boris though I'd wager.

Thousands are likely going to die not because they got corona but because they can't get access to a ventilator.

And Boris and his friends are to blame for that in large part, for defunding the NHS, for not acting on their own pandemic exercise a few years ago that said ventilators would be in short supply should a pandemic hit and also for not acting fast enough to act and not understanding their role in protecting all of us when they knew this pandemic was on its way, and also of missing the email of a company wanting to provide ventilators (they've gone abroad instead).

JingsMah feel free! The phrase ‘schadenfreudesque cackle’ shall be my gift to the world today Grin

cornishdreams I’m posting to discuss the news, and share an online social experience with others as we all cope in our own ways with the shit we find ourselves facing in our lives. Honestly I really don’t expect anything of you, or care if you ‘take me seriously’, feel free to not engage if you don’t like my posts and I personally wish you well through the crisis. I do think you have a severe lack of imagination if you think JC is the only possible alternative to BJ as our prime minister, although granted our political system is so massively fucked up that was the realistic choice at the ballot box in December. Doesn’t that feel a lifetime ago. I don’t know how JC might have handled it, but I do think Labour might have been quicker off the mark with many measures they have been pushing the government for. Everyone’s a socialist in a crisis as some people say.

Bluntness100 · 27/03/2020 12:55

For gods sake, I can’t believe someone suggested he’d lying. The world really has gone mad.

PerkingFaintly · 27/03/2020 12:56

You've tested positive, 1980sQueen?

All best wishes for it to be as mild as possible.Flowers

cornishdreams1 · 27/03/2020 12:56

You can buy your way to accessing a ventilator if you're Boris though I'd wager

Well one would hope so, he is the PM after all Hmm

The country kind of needs him, especially at a time like this.

Boris looked really quite ill, and no one can now accuse him of being isolated from the rest of the country, and only caring for himself, when is now ill as well. I think this will make people like Boris even more than they did before. He has been doing his best, and we can all see that, and although I really was not a huge fan of his before, I am now!

A boris converter if you like :)

Eireni · 27/03/2020 12:57

I can, he has form, the boy who cried wolf is a tale as old as time.

The80sweregreat · 27/03/2020 12:58

It doesn't matter who is leading us atm to be fair : the services we rely on have been run down for years. Nhs trusts were probably banned from buying extra Ppe equipment ' just in case' and now the chickens have come home to roost.
All governments are criticised at times of crisis. but we should wait for the fallout for another time.
Keep on saying others would not have handled it as well is not really helping anything. I'm sure Corbyn would have had his advisors too : it's a shame it's not a coalition govt really.

A few will be feeling the pinch because they were not truthful with their tax affairs I've read on here. So many people will be affected the good and the bad!
I just wish it had never happened like everyone else does . It's a sad situation. The kids I feel for as they are completely innocent.

VegetableMunge · 27/03/2020 12:58

Its because some people think waaaah Corbyn is the answer to any criticism of Boris max, as though there's a rule that one of the PM and outgoing Opposition leader has to be competent. I wish! But Jezza is irrelevant.

Bubblebu · 27/03/2020 12:59

No one said he does not have a very difficult job; has had limited options to be near people in the last week or two etc.

But ALSO

  • he has the best private medical healthcare in the UK;
  • he has the best medical advisers and scientists you could ask for;
  • he has issued via BBC (and it was him) rules about people not being allowed to having sex with anyone not in their household. Now yes Carrie does live with him. But surely the hypocrisy must be apparent.

But it's not really anything to do with sex. Its to do with what came long before.

Fifthtimelucky · 27/03/2020 12:59

@YgritteSnow. Your post was really encouraging. Thanks for sharing.

Roostersmum2 · 27/03/2020 13:01

He hasn't been looking well prior to this announcement so it doesn't come as a surprise to me. Somebody put up two side by side pictures of him yesterday comparing how he looked a fortnight ago to how he looks this week, it is clear he's run down.

I hope it continues to be a mild version and he makes a comfortable recovery. I don't agree with much of what he comes out with but nor would I wish covid19 on my worst enemy. Thoughts are with Carrie and the baby too.

Bubblebu · 27/03/2020 13:01

PS
And by the way.
I am a single mum and am not in any relationship and am not angry about me being prohibited from going outdoors to meet someone for any reason (not limited to sex).
That edict did come from BJ government tho whatever you say...

madcatladyforever · 27/03/2020 13:02

Well I did vote for him and I think he's doing a fantastic job and I hope he feels better soon - from myself here on the NHS front line.
Everytime I have a menopausal hot flush I think I've got it Grin

1forsorrow · 27/03/2020 13:03

Matt Hancock has it as well.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/03/2020 13:03

He can hardly just SI in bed for a week like most

Of course he can, he'll have great online communications.

There are systems for government to operate out of bunkers fgs, self-isolation in 2020 shouldn't be particularly challenging.

crazydiamond222 · 27/03/2020 13:04

Matt Hancock and the UKs chief brexit negotiator have also now contracted it. I wonder how many more in westminster will contract this.

Bubble you go out doors to meet people for sex?

How’s he hypocritical. He’s lived with Carrie from well before this occured, and none of us know their sex life. I don’t think there is even a rumour he’s been out shagging randoms during this period?

Honestly you can meet people for sex afterwards. Clearly you understand the risk? Right?

Bubblebu · 27/03/2020 13:06

Bluntness100
No of course not (as per my post).
And your post is just trolling.
