Delay in today's numbers

Unless I'm being really stupid, it doesn't look like the numbers have been updated for today, it still says 24th March

Not seen any reasons as to why they are delayed?

Why are figures being released in dribs and drabs ? I’ve just seen 41 on guardian website. Really odd.

loobyloo1234 · 25/03/2020 20:59

Jesus I give up. Figures have not been released yet.

They have. Many people have reported this on BBC News and Sky News now. So unless they have made this up, 41 is the total deaths in the UK in today’s figures

JemimaPuddleCat · 25/03/2020 20:59

@Cary2012

But that's Sky and BBC saying - not NHSEngland officially giving a number.

BreakingAnother 28 deaths from virus recorded in England

Another 28 people have died from coronavirus in England, according to the latest numbers from the NHS.

This brings the total number of deaths in the country to 414.

NHS England said the patients who died were aged between 47 and 93 years old.

All of the people, except the 47-year-old, had underlying health conditions.

The figure brings the total number of deaths in the UK to 468.

Earlier today, a further five were recorded in Wales, a further six in Scotland and two more in Northern Ireland.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/03/2020 21:00

Over 30% increase for wales.

All of the weekend cottagers making their mark.

Orangeblossom78 · 25/03/2020 21:00

Please remember there are loads of people with the virus who can't get tested so there is only so much can be read into these figures anyway.

Musicforsmorks · 25/03/2020 21:00

If the figure had been 128 instead of 28 why do I get the feeling people would be more willing to believe it?

Not sure why figures today should be any less reliable than any other day.

We ain’t out of it yet by a long shot, but I’m glad it is lower.

Miriel · 25/03/2020 21:00

Sparklfairy, if I were feeling very cynical about creativity with figures, I'd wonder if a drop today might be intended to prove that 'lockdown works' to people who don't know about or understand the approximate two week delay before you actually begin to see the results of measures implemented.

lyralalala · 25/03/2020 21:00

@Peapod29 41 is the UK total

PrettyLittleLiar20 · 25/03/2020 21:00

@Eggcited I have no idea to be honest. You could be right but I don’t know why they would keep saying “breaking news” and updating it.

alloutoffucks · 25/03/2020 21:01

It was 422 yesterday, it still says 422

defthand · 25/03/2020 21:01

Numbers just don’t behave like this in any other European country. And why gave they been so slow to update lower numbers? It’s peculiar.

Pishposhpashy · 25/03/2020 21:01

Why do people seem to want it to be higher Confused

ElatedDragon · 25/03/2020 21:01

Figures get released by PHE, not news broadcasters

The figures you are reading are most likely from leaked documents and could have changed (up, or down), or been updated, or recounted.

Media outlets are not the Government

(Sincerely hope those figures are correct though)

JanewaysBun · 25/03/2020 21:01

My phone just told me there were only 28 more deaths in England - this seems too low?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/03/2020 21:01

I just think people around here at mentally preparing for "the worst". And that it will drag on a long time.

28 is low. We should be happy with it. I am. But it's unsettling after seeing the figures surge so quickly.

DressingGownofDoom · 25/03/2020 21:02

@Musicforsmorks I think people are scared to hope.

Froq · 25/03/2020 21:02

Good lord.

This thread is no good for anyone’s mental health.

JemimaPuddleCat · 25/03/2020 21:02

@Musicforsmorks

It's not fully believable, because the number is yet to be reported from any of the official sources.

The photo that keeps circulating from twitter says the information has come from @NHSEngland - yet @NHSEngland on twitter have said no such thing.

gypsywater · 25/03/2020 21:03

@Pishposhpashy I know!

PrettyLittleLiar20 · 25/03/2020 21:03

No one wants it to be higher. Why does it always seem once the first person says something then others jump on the bandwagon and follow.

ChipotleBlessing · 25/03/2020 21:03

Nicola Sturgeon gave a figure for Scottish serious cases at her press conference today. That’ll be where the worldometer figure is from.

SwedishEdith · 25/03/2020 21:04

Why do people seem to want it to be higher

No-one wants them to be higher but they do want to be confident that the data is correct. A completely different figure from what one would expect is surprising.

loobyloo1234 · 25/03/2020 21:04

I think for me the problem with it being low is people seem to care less. Which I know sounds terrible as 28 or 41 etc is still terrible and more than it should be. But for shock factor and to stay indoors I thought if it were higher people would be more inclined to stop being twats and flouting rules

MrsAmaro · 25/03/2020 21:04

This is the most confusing thread I’ve read all day.
