Delay in today's numbers

TheReelSlimShady · 25/03/2020 20:00

Unless I'm being really stupid, it doesn't look like the numbers have been updated for today, it still says 24th March

www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

Not seen any reasons as to why they are delayed?

Well that is a positive result and I’ll take it.

It’s nothing to do with lock down, that’s about cases, and people started locking down a couple of weeks ago, and tourism cut down.

That death toll is about how they treat the critical cases.

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 25/03/2020 21:04

It doesn't matter what you're reading on BBC news, the figures have not been released for England today. There is no breaking news on Sky as a pp said.

Pishposhpashy · 25/03/2020 21:04

Why does it always seem once the first person says something then others jump on the bandwagon and follow.

You mean like the multiple people on this thread saying the numbers aren't believable?

Frownette · 25/03/2020 21:05

@MrsAmaro me too

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2020 21:05

Sky isn’t the arbiter, and I’d be surprised if the bbc has it wrong. They are saying rh numbers are from nhs England.

ChipotleBlessing · 25/03/2020 21:05

Re why the 21 year old and 36 year old haven’t been included in the figures. They hadn’t been tested before dying, so won’t be included until after post mortem deaths. There seemed to be some suggestion that the story about the 21 year old may not be accurate.

TitsInAbsentia · 25/03/2020 21:05

I don't look at the numbers until the end of the day, at the moment worldometers is saying 13 new deaths in the UK.

ChipotleBlessing · 25/03/2020 21:06

Post mortem tests.

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2020 21:06

And it is on sky news, it’s on the ticker across the bottom of the screen, I e just switched the tv over.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/03/2020 21:06

I think for me the problem with it being low is people seem to care less.

Yes - it worries me that if there are comfortingly low numbers people will think there's nothing to worry about and ignore the instructions.

I'm worrying about the huge spike we'll get in a fortnight when all of those stupid sods who have been having pub lock ins find their chickens coming home to roost.

Derbygerbil · 25/03/2020 21:07

Why do people seem to want it to be higher

It’s not that, it’s more that it feels oddly low, especially as Scotland, Wales and NI make up 1/3 of numbers. Something feels amiss.

MrsAmaro · 25/03/2020 21:07

@Frownette I am a nurse and pay very little mind as I get the information through work but it’s frustrating to read everyone being so keen to be first and speculate that we end up with a mess of thread that helps no one!

ShellsAndSunrises · 25/03/2020 21:08

I’m suspecting that PHE and the NHS haven’t got a digital person to be updating right now... having worked with one of the two in a similar capacity, they’re woeful at planning anything that doesn’t happen at its usual time.

I hope they update soon. I think it must be correct, or the BBC wouldn’t be sharing it, but it’ll be a relief for people to see it from source.

MummyPop00 · 25/03/2020 21:08

The stats for UK are taking a different path to Italy and Spain in the last 4 days. Italy went up by 600 in the same time the UK‘s have gone up 230. It is encouraging but let’s not get excited yet.

Cary2012 · 25/03/2020 21:08

It is the official NHS figures, on Sky now. NHS England, total for UK 466. England up by 28. Official NHS England. Watch and read the yellow band on Sky news!

Mrskeats · 25/03/2020 21:09

I now have 87 new deaths on worldometer

CheekyMango · 25/03/2020 21:09

news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-uk-death-toll-reaches-435-after-rise-in-scotland-and-wales-11963431

How and where they got the figures from I don't know!

RainbowPenguins · 25/03/2020 21:09

Nobody WANTS the numbers to be higher. We want the numbers to be accurate. And something very peculiar has happened tonight where not only is the 'number' released very late, it seems to only be reported by the media and not on official PHE/GOV sites as usual. This does not seem right and neither does the number. Surely it's far too early to see over 50% reduction in deaths from one day to the next? Do you not see how this may raise questions about accuracy?

ShellsAndSunrises · 25/03/2020 21:09

It’s updated

Delay in today's numbers
Bluntness100 · 25/03/2020 21:10

Eighty seven is yesterday, you’re looking at the wrong day. Worldometer not yet been updated,

todayisnottuesday · 25/03/2020 21:10

There is no breaking news on Sky as a pp said

The same figure was given on Sky News around 15 minutes ago and just again.

Seems it's not dramatic enough for some....

Eggcited · 25/03/2020 21:11

I think the reason posters are doubting is because there's no link to the source. I appreciate the news are sharing the information, but we're so used to being able to see the figures from the GOV ourselves.

Derbygerbil · 25/03/2020 21:11

It’s nothing to do with lock down, that’s about cases, and people started locking down a couple of weeks ago, and tourism cut down.

But people just weren’t!.... not in any appreciable numbers. There’s a 3 week delay on average between being infected and death. If the numbers are correct, that’s good, but probably more a statistical anomaly than any reason to believe number are on the wane already.

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2020 21:11

Yup, feels like some are disappointed.

Mrskeats · 25/03/2020 21:11

Is this better than Italy 2 weeks ago as people keep saying we are 2 weeks behind them?
