I'm a care worker and my boss has given is all letters to prove we're legit to be out and about. Am wondering if there's new measures coming? I've seen plenty out and about today when driving home.

Same.

I laminated mine...

The police are allowed to stop you and ask what you're doing now. I expect that as a caseworker, you're quite likely to be stopped - and potentially reported - if people see you going from house to house. The letter will make it easier to verify that you are, infact, allowed to do so...

They may become more important down the line, but when they discussed these things earlier, it seemed to just be a learning from other European countries about giving care workers a way to "prove" their occupation, so everyone and their dog that fancies visiting people doesn't say that they are providing care.

Embracelife · 25/03/2020 16:31

My son s care provider has issued letters to all support workers to ensure they can travel as key workers etc .

Marmite27 · 25/03/2020 16:32

My mum said she’d been given a letter today at work too

MadamePewter · 25/03/2020 16:32

I dint think it means new measures, just makes it easier to show you are complying with the current measures.

Kingcole · 25/03/2020 16:33

Lots of people fined for buying newspapers today.

Mary1935 · 25/03/2020 16:33

Are you all in uk

roonilwazlibismynickname · 25/03/2020 16:34

Ah...I need to go out everyday to look after the horses, I don’t think there’s a letter for that...

longearedbat · 25/03/2020 16:36

Why would people be fined for buying newspapers? Is this in the uk? What is your source?

snowyforest · 25/03/2020 16:36

@kingcole seriously?

Embracelife · 25/03/2020 16:38

Newsagents are open. You can buy newspaper

itsgettingweird · 25/03/2020 16:39

My boss did this too - education.

Did it last week before lockdown as we asked just in case. Also laminated and in my car.

MadamePewter · 25/03/2020 16:39

🙄 you can buy newspapers

Kingcole · 25/03/2020 16:39

@snowyforest Yes this is happening from reliable source - careworkers.

TheReluctantCountess · 25/03/2020 16:40

My DP is organising such letters for the engineers at his work.

Kingcole · 25/03/2020 16:40

Not if it isn't part of foodshop. It is nonessential. I am not making this up it IS happening!!

frasersmummy · 25/03/2020 16:41

Fined for buying a newspaper?? Then ban newspapers!!!

Friendsofmine · 25/03/2020 16:41

Letters make it easier to justify that you are out of the house for something essential. A good idea I think.

Kingcole · 25/03/2020 16:41

I am merely the messenger! Not the Police. Hmm

Frenchdoors1 · 25/03/2020 16:42

Well why are they still printing newspapers if we aren't allowed to buy them?!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 25/03/2020 16:43

Kingcole you can buy newspapers in the food shops.

Kingcole · 25/03/2020 16:43

You can as part of foodshop.

incognitomum · 25/03/2020 16:43
