Ooh chorizo yum!!

Fernlake · 27/03/2020 23:25

Such a positive thread. The stories and the links. Brilliant stuff.

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 27/03/2020 23:35

Dh and I fired up the barbecue and sat outside in our coats eating sausages, burgers, corn on the cob, salad and homemade bread - just because Smile Then later DS and his fiancee organised an online game of Pictionary - I haven't laughed that much for weeks!
It's been a good day.

Alsohuman · 27/03/2020 23:38

I want to tell you what happened to me today. Our daughter who works in ITU sent us this video, she has no hand cream. I found one unopened tube in the drawer and took it to the post office, only to find the counter closed.

The lovely lady opened it specially when she heard what the parcel was and who it was for. There are some incredibly kind people in this world.

You must be incredibly proud of her, Also ❤️

Morning all! I hope you’ve all slept, or rested a little bit at least. The weather isn’t meant to be as nice here today as the previous few daye, but NO RAIN ❤️

I’m heading out shortly to do the ponies, get a paper for my mum and some meat for her from the butchers. And some wine, as she’s run out
I bought 2 bottles of wine for us yesterday, so I hope it’s not the same person on the till 🧐🧐😂

Bunnyflop · 28/03/2020 07:17

@Zoidbergonthehalfshell what a lovely day!

Yesterday me, dh and ds got the poker chips out that we bought on our honeymoon in Vegas and played poker. Was so much fun! Not sure if we are bad parents for teaching a 9 year old poker but hey ho! He’s really good at it.

@alsohuman what a lovely story.

It has occurred to me that I hope that because of this crisis we all stop admiring and awarding celebrities so much and turn that admiration instead to the drs, nurses, surgeons etc who keep us all alive. I’ve always thought it bizarre that there are so many awards and attention for people who prance about on stages and zilch for the hardworking people who do important, life saving stuff.

Bunnyflop · 28/03/2020 07:21

Thought of another positive to try and take from all of this! Saving money! Dh hasn’t been to work so we are saving hundreds on train fare and I’m not using petrol much. Plus we aren’t going anywhere.

But we will have a fucking spending frenzy when this is all over so I guess the saving money is all just for that really, haha!

Roussette · 28/03/2020 07:22

Alsohuman A big clap for your DD. I hope she heard it on Thursday night.

Bunny totally agree. Let's applaud the ordinary person doing the extraordinary job.

Millie2013 Just in case you need it in the future... Majestic Wine are still doing online deliveries. We use them lots, and they are great, delivery is free if you buy 6 bottles or more... thinking of repeating my last order which was not that long ago Blush

A bonus here... the weather was not meant to be good this weekend, but I opened the curtains and it's a glorious day out there.

Noooblerooble · 28/03/2020 08:02

Morning all!!

I'm also saving a lot on train fares and accomodation in London where I worked off and on. I mean, it's all going to get swallowed up by craft materials but meh. Those are better for the soul.

Wishing you all easy days. I am still staying away from the news as much as possible. Also thinking of all hcp's so much and what they're facing. A woman I know who has two small children is going back to being an ITU nurse after years away. I am so blown away by her courage. There is a lot of good in this scary world.

Henry says hello, he is having his breakfast

Frownette · 28/03/2020 08:53

Hello Henry.

Do any of you know of 24 hour channels tv/radio which are just for soothing?

I'm stuck completely on my own in different part of the country for lockdown and although daytime is fine I can get headachy and depressed late at night!

Siameasy · 28/03/2020 09:19

He’s such a cute bunny. We put our past-it veg out for the local bunnies so off out later to see if the carrot was taken (the cauli leaves weren’t!)
DD happily playing with my measuring cups and water with pink food colouring in it🙏🏼silence

Arcadia · 28/03/2020 09:34

Testing starts for NHS staff this weekend

Callybrid · 28/03/2020 09:34

That is a lovely story Also - I agree with bunny re hoping this will make us all focus our admiration more on those who do the brave, hard, essential work.

Also Bunny/Henry is seriously making me consider getting a rabbit...

It is a glorious morning here - so happy to see sunshine. I am sitting outside listening to the pigeons coo and all sorts of little birds twitter and cheep - normally the main road behind us is the predominate noise.

Alsohuman · 28/03/2020 09:58

No sunshine here this morning, it’s grey and windy. I occupied the time it took me to drink my first cup of tea planning all the things I’m going to do when this is over. They range from planting my hanging baskets and containers for the summer to booking the trip to India I’ve wanted to make for ever. It will be my first ever holiday alone as it has no interest for the bloke.

purpleme12 · 28/03/2020 10:00

Oh god these bunny pictures are ace

Bunnyflop · 28/03/2020 10:03

@alsohuman carpe diem! Have you ever seen the Darjeeling Ltd? I think you’d like it...

Alsohuman · 28/03/2020 10:08

Just googled it Bunnyflop, thank you so much. If I can find it online, that’s me sorted for the afternoon. The trip I’m planning is all by train so it will be especially interesting.

ClarencesMum · 28/03/2020 10:13

Do you have spotify? It is free and I think you can trial premium for free for a month so you dont get ads. It has lots of soothing playlists and podcasts

Bunnyflop · 28/03/2020 10:20

It’s such a soulful film @Alsohuman and perfect for these times. Hope you enjoy it!!

In case anyone is interested we are growing caterpillars. This is day 2. We do it once a year and release them into the garden. Last year they were landing on us as we opened their habitat, it was wonderful. If anyone wants to do it themselves you get them by post from Insect Lore and the kit includes food and the butterfly habitat.

Bouncingbomb · 28/03/2020 10:29

Hi everyone 👋. Haven’t been on this thread for a day or two. Not sure about anyone else but I am screen weary after a week of WFH in a way I wouldn’t usually be.

I am rowing for my daily exercise as I am on the 12 week list, gone back to watching Miranda who is looking after her bed bound mother in this morning’s episode. Favourite line today “I won the right to be demanding when I pushed a 10lb you out of my clacker” 😂😂😂.

It’s raining here today which is good because the army have set up road blocks locally to keep the tourists from coming to the Dales. Mindnumbing.

My plans include working on the huuuuge living room curtains I have half finished and baking something (need to row more during this time just to burn off the home made cakes).

I am sure I have got some flower seeds somewhere so I will look for those and start them off inside.

💐💐💐

Millie2013 · 28/03/2020 10:30

Roussette, thank you, delivering wine is an essential service, IMHO! Grin

Bunny, Hemry is adorable! I get what you mean about not spending money, I’m spending more on groceries because I’m shopping locally and not going to Lidl, but there are no lunches out, coffees and cakes, popping to the garden centre and spending £££ on craft stuff and fuel!
I’m likely being furloughed next week, but considering the £££ I spend when I’m out and about with work, I may not be much worse off Blush Hooefully it’ll cause me to review my spending habits in the future!

captainoftheshipwreck · 28/03/2020 10:47

Thanks everyone for such a life saver thread - am now staying off all the others to avoid panic! Wishing everyone a peaceful day x

Siameasy · 28/03/2020 11:53

Ooh the caterpillars Bunny DD would love those

Siameasy · 28/03/2020 11:58

Rant alert

Other mums are annoying me on SM. So and so kid has “symptoms” therefore “has it”
Me-more likely that your kid has something else than “it”. But that is pissing on their attention seeking/misery loves company parade and therefore not a popular comment.
