People living a double life, they’ll have to choose one family to isolate with.

Letting a virus ravage through the public and see who is left alive at the end is a very different concept.

It's not like it works. Otherwise measles, mumps, rubella, smallpox and polio would have eliminated themselves.

No but does locking everyone away work either? Unless it’s forever? That virus will still be out there. We are all getting it.

@Stupidanduseless - I thought the idea was not that we could stop it but that we would manage the speed of its growth. If fewer people get it all at the same time then those who are badly affected have better chance of recovery, with effective treatment and equipment. Also, they are delaying its spread while they speed-search for a vaccine/cure.

People will forget what hangovers are because they will be rationing their alcohol so they don't run out.

There will be some bad driving about as people cannot get to their optician for a checkup.

I wonder if people will go to their GPs less, as a result of having discovered for themselves that an awful lot of minor illnesses really do clear up by themselves.

More meetings being held online, as people have discovered how to do it and how much travelling time it saves.

NC for this. Nearly a year into recovery. These are really testing times for me. I am in NO doubt that if Iockdown had happened a year ago this could well have been me.

In future movies and TV shows, people who aren't from the same household will be shown 2m apart and not shaking hands/slapping each other's backs etc.

They may have a nostalgic montage intro a la Call the Midwife showing life before coronavirus.

Just thought of another one:

Once testing is perfected (e.g. via breath test), this will be mandatory for entrance into gyms, nightclubs, restaurants, offices and airports

There will be lots of tedious self congratulatory articles in the Guardian and the like about how people got to know their children/partners/selves better; how they became amazing cooks with store cupboard ingredients or how they are now home schooling full time.

Or there will be an increase in attendance at boarding schools, a crasy increase in attendance at restaurants and the use of take aways, and home schooling will be a thing of the past.
