So far I’ve thought of:

Drug addicts that normally shop lift to get money, what will they do?

People living a double life, they’ll have to choose one family to isolate with.

Err that’s all I can think of, but surely there’s more?

Realisation avocados are not an essential grocery item

Shock

WASH OUT YOUR MOUTH!!!!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/03/2020 08:56

@thecatneuterer @PyongyangKipperbang if people cared more about animal welfare, this would not have happened.

Exactly!

I think I've realised how few clothes we need

I was thinking this only last night. Without realising it, I have developed for myself a "corona wardrobe".

I've been wearing and frequently washing the same (roughly 12) items of clothing (not including pants) - and haven't missed my packed wardrobe at all.

This is me. I only have two styles

1 ( I like to think ) quite stylish and smart when I go out the house

  1. Fleece and joggers/ jeans / leggings at home / doing housework / gardening .

It’s bliss not having to do anything except pick up the least grubby outfit off the bedroom chair.

I’m sure I’ll get fed up after a few weeks though and want to Make An Effort.

Fly tipping will increase even more because the local recycling centres have closed.

Boris Johnson’s ego has led him to this position as PM. Nothing more than the poisoned chalice he so deserves...... GET A GRIP! DO WE NEED THIS NOW!
Imagine for a moment had JC won the election. The ultimate ditherer bar none. LEAVE IT. Support each other cos most are doing their best.

susandelgado · 25/03/2020 10:18

As a parallel to alcohol abuse, I worked with a woman who had a drink problem. Eventually she was " asked to leave" the company. I said then that she would drink herself to death at home alone all day ( not in a nasty way, I was very fond of her)
I was right, she died within 6 months 😥

TheLadyAnneNeville · 25/03/2020 10:36

Cupfull why single me out for criticism? I, like many many others, are entitled to my opinion. Mr Johnson would have sold his granny to be PM. His party have run down our NHS/social services/social care/police/army ... on and on and here we are, in a global crisis scratching about for face masks and enough nursing staff to keep the nhs going. Yes, it’s amazing and admirable that volunteers are coming forward i their thousands but THIS GOVT. left us massively vulnerable. As an ex nurse of 3 decades, with nurses, a a paramedics, police and several social workers in our family, I am able to say this. Don’t be so nasty and look to yourself first.

teafourtoo · 25/03/2020 10:39

Sadly I think divorce, domestic violence and maybe suicide rates because of people stuck inside alone getting more and more lonely mentally unwell. This is very bleak sorry! I imagine we'll all get a bit fatter too!

TheLadyAnneNeville · 25/03/2020 12:54

Sorry... reply above meant for @cuparfull

This.

Bittersweet12 · 25/03/2020 13:46

Posted this on another thread but I'm not sure how true this is but was speaking to someone and they think there just trying to control the spread so nhs don’t get over run, so now we’ve been locked down for 3 weeks so the people in hospitals ect can (I know it sounds awful) die or recover in this time, borris will fight for more beds and stuff and then after 3 weeks they’ll be more prepaired, so then rules can be slackened slightly we can go out more, and then when it starts to pick up again, we’ll be locked down again so the people in hospital can die/recover. So it’s like everyone doesn’t get it at once it comes in waves 🤔🤔🤔 interesting but again not sure how true

WhoWants2Know · 25/03/2020 13:51

I think that is the general idea, but we don't seem to be stopping people coming in at the moment.

HollySideEyes · 25/03/2020 13:52

That goes without saying Bittersweet12.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 25/03/2020 14:00

@susandelgado. That’s so, so sad. Poor woman.

FlamingoAndJohn · 25/03/2020 14:02

That’s the idea @Bittersweet12.
There is no cure, they can only manage it. Most people won’t be effected that badly but some will. If we all carried on as normal then the amount of people seriously ill with it would swamp the hospitals. The idea is to spread out the cases that are severe enough to need intensive care beds.
This is true of all countries and their hospitals, regardless.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/03/2020 14:12

Mr Johnson would have sold his granny to be PM.

I think that if necessary, he would have eaten her LadyAnne - without salt.

It wa all he wanted, but his dream (power, Bolly, rich mates, being the class clown of the nation, all the secretaries he could shag) has turned into a nightmare.

I don't know what Jeremy Corbyn would have done, but I am certain he wouldn't have played fast and loose with people's lives by ignoring advice from countries which were already dealing with it, and trying to give us the benefit of their experience.

FredaFrogspawn · 25/03/2020 14:16

I’m enjoying not wearing anti-perspirant. Still showering daily but obviously no tube or running about at work. Giving my body a chemical break!

The80sweregreat · 25/03/2020 14:30

B C 'Before Corona' :
We can all talk about the ' good old days' BC! I already have forgotten my ' BC' days.

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/03/2020 14:33

Also, they will begin random testing for immunity in the general population to stop the spread slowing down too much as they will want to reach herd immunity levels before allowing the vulnerable to rejoin society properly. it's basically a balancing act. If NHS levels are low enough then they'll lessen the restrictions to keep a manageable level of infections and try to get to 80% (or whatever the figure is) hopefully within 12 weeks but I think it might be longer.

goose1964 · 25/03/2020 14:34

Children will be better behaved in public, be all the "little darlings" who normally are allowed to run riot will be disciplined by their parents as they are doing is driving them mad.

It's a shame that herd immunity is bollocks though, isn't it ?

SpokeTooSoon · 25/03/2020 14:45

The world would not suffer if humanity disappeared - on the contrary

People who say things like this, you sound almost gleeful, excited by the prospect. Do you really hope humans die out? Or is it just a chance to knock people further down in a crisis?

BeijingBikini · 25/03/2020 15:10

It's a shame that herd immunity is bollocks though, isn't it ?

Well it has to work to some extent, otherwise a vaccine would be useless.

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/03/2020 15:13

It's a shame that herd immunity is bollocks though, isn't it ?

I'm happy to read your explanation as to why, me being a simple soul, but in very simple terms, it's surely harder for the 20% to catch anything if 80% aren't carrying it?

Hopefully there will be some kind of vaccine available which can be used for those without immunity by then.

Xiaoxiong · 25/03/2020 15:13

Herd immunity isn't bollocks. It's just that the method of getting to herd immunity that was proposed, ie. allowing the illness to spread uncontrolled and a % to recover (as opposed to vaccinating a large percentage of a population) results in completely unacceptable levels of deaths, plus deep sixing the health service in the process of developing that herd immunity.
