So far I’ve thought of:

Drug addicts that normally shop lift to get money, what will they do?

People living a double life, they’ll have to choose one family to isolate with.

Err that’s all I can think of, but surely there’s more?

Fashion will stop which can only be a good thing. I have a wardrobe full of clothes and shoes and nowhere to wear them to.

pollymere · 23/03/2020 18:00

My husband is worried about #theclapforcarers @dontsayyouloveme ...

PinkPanther27 · 23/03/2020 18:04

Domestic Abuse will increase

Diamondsareforever123 · 23/03/2020 18:14

Long grey hair
No salon varnished nails
Mental health cases will hit the roof
Food rationing - we'll get thinner (a plus)
More alcoholics
No more horror films cos we're living in one
Extreme poverty
Homelessness

Lincolnfield · 23/03/2020 18:29

My nails have seen the light of day (gels soaked off) for the first time in a couple of years.

I’m tying my hair back every day because zero chance of getting it cut.

Have to keep reminding myself to shower every day - is it really worth it?

Living in grubby walking trousers and wellies all day - we’ve got three big dogs- and in pyjamas from about 6pm.

I think I’m turning into the old lady who lived in a van....

OJZJ · 23/03/2020 18:35

Greyishdays the junkies will either be robbing houses or selling dodgy toilet roll for 10 a roll on street cornersGrin
Oh wouldn't it be funny if the isolation killed off nits as well as coronavirus (hopefully)

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 18:38

It wont totally kill off nits, just reduce cases. There will still be children at home with untreated nits.

OJZJ · 23/03/2020 18:43

Do you know, I have actually been saying for years, how lovely it would be to go back to pre war living (obviously still with the nhs) to save the enviroment. Ie buy locally, stop flights being cheaper than bus journeys so limiting use , reuse clothes rather than Primark, new look type disposable fashion that is filling land fill and oceans with its nonbiodegradable plastics in fabrics, stop renewing tech and plastic toys and toot, I clearly have a romantic "Goodbye Mr Tom" scenario in my head rather than reality of course.
So a lot of what people are saying is what I have wished for but without the grim reality of how it's happening.

OJZJ · 23/03/2020 18:45

Oh I am also in the immaculate garden and finish decorating category as well but I seriously doubt it Grin

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 23/03/2020 18:46

There will be a massive increase in suicides.

SingleDadReally · 23/03/2020 18:50
  1. 40 years of Thatcherite bullshit of running down the public services is over-hooray!
  2. Shopping as a leisure activity has been shown up to be the pointless bollocks it is!
  3. People will tidy their houses and gardens up.
  4. Flying abroad 6 times a year, not really knowing where or why your going merely to brag about it will be over.
  5. People will have more sex, and when they get bored of vanilla it’ll get more kinky
  6. People on the minimum wage will be drinking champagne and eating foie gras in a few months from all the food bank donations
  7. Trump will be found to be a deadly, incompetent buffoon and will be defeated
  8. Choke points in the NHS will be partially funded from the defence budget.
  9. Thousands of people will be dead (20,000-260,000).
10. We will all be significantly poorer. 11. Hyper-globalisation will end. It does matter that we have a UK ventilator manufacturer.
The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 18:53

The air quality will improve. I feel it is already.

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 18:57

Only a tiny minority of people ever flew 6 times a year on holiday.

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 23/03/2020 19:07

Affairs will decrease/be found out

Hopefully on a lockdown parents who normally let their feral teenagers roam the parks, mug kids for bikes and don’t support the police on their daily visits will have to deal with their little shits when we go on lock down.

More companies will ditch their overpriced offices in favour of home working

Lots of people will realise they work for tossers or dislike their jobs and look for career changes (I saw an advert advertising for trainee nurses earlier on tv - I suspect lots of medical staff will leave the profession after this with ptsd)

Divorce will sky rocket as people realise who they are married to/see life is short and precious

Lots of grey hair

More wrinkles, less ridiculous eye brows and lips

Less blondes

More body hair

The EU will change - in a crisis it’s basically be sidelined as everyone closed its boarders, physically, politically and economically-it will be hard to just reverse this as countries deal with the fall out for years

The blame game will start - will China replicate the Marshall Plan?

I’d like to think people will realise they buy a lot of shit, waste a lot of food, rush round needlessly too much but doubt it

People will drink too much

People will have read more/learned new skill

The start of the new school year will be very difficult for teachers. Some kids will essentially have done fuck all for 6 months, others will have covered half of next years curriculum but learned different methods to those used by the school. Kids won’t be used to a school environment, there will be a lot of kids who will have lost someone close/experience very ill relatives which might leave them with mental health issues as support normally offers won’t be there.

mynamesmrdiggety · 23/03/2020 19:12

My five year old said she had an itchy head today and as I checked her hair I thought well at least I don't have to worry about nots anymore.

Also I'll probably save some cash on takeaway coffee.

That's about it.

PieceOfMaria · 23/03/2020 19:12

There will be an awful lot of vitamin D deficiency

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 23/03/2020 19:13

And tbh, the global health crisis notwithstanding I’m actually enjoying this much simpler way of living already.

onegiftedgal · 23/03/2020 19:16

To the people who say lots of babies in 9 months time. Really? How selfish to plan a pregnancy right now.

Terralee · 23/03/2020 19:20

I'm concerned about the woman next door on my party wall as her partner is verbally if not physically abusive; he seems to still be working at present but if that changes I dread to think what will happen, stuck together in a tiny house with 2 energetic little boys.

On a personal level I will get very lonely as it's just me & my cat, I can only work 3 days a week in a hospital due to serious mental health illness.
So for 4 days I'll be very lonely & bored.
My parents are self isolating as over 70s & my sister will be on lockdown too. My best friends all live at least 10 miles away.
I think my outpatient psychiatrist appointment will be cancelled.

I don't feel depressed at present though just very anxious about the virus as I've seen what bad pneumonia does to people at work anyway.

BeijingBikini · 23/03/2020 19:23

Why would anyone want to get pregnant rn?!

People are already cooped up indoors with partner/family, nobody will want to add a baby into the mix. Plus, job security is so low at the moment. And god knows what the state of the hospitals will be like in 9 months time - they could be Corona Central.

HollySideEyes · 23/03/2020 19:32

Chickens are already being looted.

Sex workers will go online. Or they'll find a way of getting tested and both parties proving it to meet up. Some people are that desperate for sex.

That makes me think, wonder what those men of a certain age chasing underage Thai girls around Pattaya going to do now?

My colleague may now believe me when I told her my hair colour is real.

Fast-fashion is just a rehashing of previous trends anyway, maybe we'll just become more individual and eclectic with what we've got or what we make. Using our own ideas.

The whole economic and class structure of this country will alter significantly like after the Black Death or WW1.

Another one who appreciates and understands TheCatNeuterer.

The thought of the vulnerable stuck in abusive situations keeps bouncing back at me - I feel sick.

ToftyAC · 23/03/2020 19:37

I think our own farmers/agricultural industry may enjoy a revival for feeding the nation.

PicsInRed · 23/03/2020 19:38

To the people who say lots of babies in 9 months time. Really? How selfish to plan a pregnancy right now.

Who said anything about I presume you mean the women planning pregnancy?

There will likely be a huge amount of domestic violence, psychological torture and both coerced and physically forced rape behind closed doors.

How many pregnancies - in an age of unavailable contraception, non existent abortion services and "we're a bit busy love" police - will be truly chosen by women? Fucking few is what.

PicsInRed · 23/03/2020 19:40

Oh and I think that more women and children will disappear.

Not by suicide.

PicsInRed · 23/03/2020 19:41

Large scale disasters are always terrible for women and children.
