So far I’ve thought of:

Drug addicts that normally shop lift to get money, what will they do?

People living a double life, they’ll have to choose one family to isolate with.

Err that’s all I can think of, but surely there’s more?

Americans may start to get a bit too handy with their guns.

HaveAtEm · 23/03/2020 19:51

An awful lot of 'natural blondes' will suddenly start to struggle to keep up the pretence 😂

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 23/03/2020 19:54

I'm wondering if kids will have to resit a year if they don't go back until September. I know there were always kids who had forgotten how to read over the summer holidays because there was no support from home.

Marilynmansonsothereye · 23/03/2020 20:03

@thecatneuterer @PyongyangKipperbang if people cared more about animal welfare, this would not have happened.

Mlou32 · 23/03/2020 20:10

One thing I can confirm having been in A & E in the largest hospital in Dublin 4 times over the last few weeks. All the junkies and alcoholics are avoiding the hospital. It's great. Even got seen by a doctor immediately the last time. Also all the time wasters with sore fingers which have been sore for the last three weeks are nowhere to be seen!

Yes, I'm a mental health nurse and there has been a significant decrease nationwide of people reaching out to A&E departments with superficial self harm/overdoses and threats of suicide. Obviously there are the chronically mentally unwell who cannot time when they become ill but there is definitely a significant reduction in contact from certain demographics of our regular service user group.

Siameasy · 23/03/2020 20:13

Not a surprise Mlou. DH and I work in emergency services and there are regular time wasters who can end up being prosecuted. They seem to be otherwise occupied at the moment. 🤔

Tommo75 · 23/03/2020 20:22

I think I've realised how few clothes we need. No point buying new stuff to work from home. I feel that bit is simpler, just deleting promotional emails. Less disposal fashion is less waste. Less vanity. I definitely think this is like a society reset.

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 20:28

@PicsInRed Yes although women are twice as likely to survive this virus.

PotholeParadise · 23/03/2020 20:30

Damage to our long-term Olympic potential. There are lots of elite gymnasts, swimmers, and so on whose regular training has been shut down indefinitely.

Also, at the grass-roots level, I am concerned dance schools and tennis clubs may go bust.

justmakemeacuppa · 23/03/2020 20:51

To the people wondering about where druggies will get their fix. Well my neighbors are getting more deliveries than Tesco 😆

DetroitLake · 23/03/2020 21:04

I'm pretty concerned that the situation here in the US might boil over

OhMyDarling · 23/03/2020 21:08

All the car batteries will go flat.

OhMyDarling · 23/03/2020 21:10

Agreed @Marilynmansonsothereye

BeijingBikini · 23/03/2020 21:16

Maybe people will just want less stuff, and in turn save more money. There'll be less companies producing stuff, so less workers needed. So we can all work 3 days a week and live less consumerist lifestyles.

Maybe that's just me wishful thinking Grin

Leontine · 23/03/2020 22:07

@mrswarthog I reckon they’ll be okay as all the stuff they tend to eat is way more expensive than ‘normal’ food and people haven’t been panic buying it.

FlamingoAndJohn · 23/03/2020 22:21

To the people who say lots of babies in 9 months time. Really? How selfish to plan a pregnancy right now.

You know not all pregnancies are planned right?

Lovely13 · 24/03/2020 00:45

Domestic abuse. Already under the radar. Could escalate. And no escape for victims in current circs

angelfacecuti75 · 24/03/2020 02:01

Economic recession.
Rise in suicide rates.
Mental health concerns will rise.
Drains blocked due to babywipe use.
Abusive relationships/abuse of children will increase and child neglect .
Increase in relationship problems.
Increase in pregnancies (could go either way )...
Increase in bowl haircuts .
Increase in bush like disguises to go and get beer in like I've seen on facebook .

angelfacecuti75 · 24/03/2020 02:07

I now have an image of a rat piling up a transit van with his sofa and "moving out" to the suburbs
Apologies , I need to make my own fun ..

DetroitLake · 24/03/2020 02:34

I'ld love to see that bush disguise!

dkanin · 24/03/2020 02:39

Bats will become social pariahs

The need for instant gratification might die down

People might be more careful about frivolous overspending/living on credit to have the best of things and think a rainy day is a real possibility

I think that sadly a lot of divorces might happen in relationships where people got by through not seeing all that much of each other

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 24/03/2020 04:36

Funeral Directors will be doing a roaring trade in X months, once we finally get around to checking up on all the singletons who haven't been seen since March 2020.

Either that, or there will be a lot of us emulating Peter Dinklage in 'I Think We're Alone Now'.

The80sweregreat · 24/03/2020 05:38

It's the crime I'm mostly concerned about really. The drug dealers and gang criminals will become much more organised and I do predict a riot of some sort.
I feel for the Grenfell victims and those recently flooded out : all seen to have been forgotten about.

Laniakea · 24/03/2020 05:48

How about rickets, bad teeth & fat unfit kids to add to the alcoholism, mental illness & DV.

Oh & the constant fucking sentimentalism & platitudes ... please no more - it’s shite enough without the bad poetry.

CoffeeHere · 24/03/2020 06:05

Increase in bowl haircuts
