Anyone actually stayed at home?

ivykaty44 · 22/03/2020 20:34

Has anyone just stayed home, not gone out anywhere today?

I’ve kept myself to myself, been back to my empty home (caring for Df) to collect a couple of things

Not been anywhere else, no shopping, no going to the park etc

It’s not easy, but I want to keep safe

we've been at home all week. the only place we have been is very briefly to b&q.

AntennaReborn · 23/03/2020 07:42

A few people here kicking off about others leaving their four walls...
Social distancing doesn't mean you can't leave your house at all, it means you can't be near people unless absolutely necessary.
Going out for a walk / run with people from your household is fine, as long as you stay well away from other people ( DD and I crossed the road on our walk yesterday to avoid passing someone on the pavement)
Same for dog owners, they are allowed out as long as they stay away from others
Shopping for essentials is allowed as long as the whole family doesn't tag along, and you should make an effort to use card payment rather than cash and stay away from any members of staff

We are not in lockdown (yet), we just need to be sensible and considerate

I know. But the OP didn’t ask about social distancing, etc. They asked who had not left the house. Cue a load of people who had left the house.

ilovecakeandwine · 23/03/2020 07:48

It’s astonishing the number of people who say they have stayed at home, but then go on to say that they walked the dog, went to the shop, delivered letters etc. That’s not staying inside.
Exactly!
That's what I do most days anyway so not so bad for me .
My week normal week consists of work , supermarket and the odd run as well as all the housework that's obviously indoors . I'll carry on doing those things but at a distance and I'm not going to shops unless it's essential.

Delatron · 23/03/2020 07:50

Yep I agree, going to the supermarket, pharmacy etc is not staying indoors. Then berating people for walking their dogs in empty spaces!

We are still allowed out. We are social distancing not on lockdown yet.

Casino218 · 23/03/2020 07:55

Yes I think I have the virus so definitely am self isolating

Iamamoleinthegarden · 23/03/2020 09:01

We are doomed.

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 10:02

Cucumber : I'm sorry! I really feel for the small businesses. Take care

happymummy12345 · 23/03/2020 12:45

I hardly ever go anywhere anyway so staying at home is no different for me. (The only places I usually go are my sons nursery on Tuesdays and Thursdays and my nail and eyebrow appointments once a fortnight. Now and then I'll go and get some shopping with dh). I never have a reason to go anywhere else.
So yes I stayed in as I always do anyway

MasakaBuzz · 23/03/2020 13:16

I am not claiming to have stayed at home. I took the dog out this morning to the local park. about 500 metres away. It was very empty. I watched the dog running round, and felt very sad. Our Lidl, which is my normal shop because it’s so close, is next to the park, so if I need to go there, I will take her with me. However from tomorrow I will go to the closer park, early in the morning - assuming I don’t get a “letter”. I feel so sad for the dog.

BarbedBloom · 23/03/2020 13:18

I haven't left the house at all for 2 weeks save for the garden if that counts. I have two high risk factors for Covid though so am taking it seriously. I can also hear the sirens all day long going to the hospital opposite too which is a sobering reminder (though am sure not all are covid related)

Shopkinsdoll · 23/03/2020 13:23

My kids want a last Macdonalds before the shut doors from tonight. Drive through. Also I need to pick up a prescription. Will try and Leave kids in the car as I go in. The car park is right at chemist.

SunshineCake · 23/03/2020 13:42

There's no helping stupid.

crazydiamond222 · 23/03/2020 13:55

I have been looking up places on webcams. It is sobering to see how empty key sites across the world are e.g Times Square, Piazza San Marco and so on.

crazydiamond222 · 23/03/2020 13:56

However the little holiday town where my parents live on the south coast is heaving!

Yogawoogie · 23/03/2020 13:58

The furthest I’ve been for the last two weeks is my garden.

HowIrresponsible · 23/03/2020 15:20

I dont stay at home.

But I live on the outskirts of London in a town that has lots of green space and very few people

Hardly anyone around. So yes I do go running, cycling

Queenparsnip · 23/03/2020 16:06

I haven't been over the door for 8 days except to walk round my back garden. It's really not that hard...

SQuueze · 23/03/2020 16:06

@AntennaReborn spot on. You can leave the house people (unless you are vulnerable or self isolating as you've had contact or have the virus).

Everyone else can go out just stay away from people. You can shop, just don't linger and keep your distance in the shops if you can't get online.

randomsabreuse · 23/03/2020 16:39

Problem is that we can't not shop for food at the moment. Normally we'd be fine with one shop a week but it's been every bloody day in the hope essentials have been restocked. Also slight side issue of run down stocks due to moving means we can't survive on freezer contents - normally we'd have a whole lamb and a decent stash of other meat at this time.

KatherineJaneway · 23/03/2020 17:40

You can shop, just don't linger and keep your distance in the shops if you can't get online.

The trouble is you keep your distance but they break that by coming up right beside you to pick up something or stand right behind you in the queue.

ivykaty44 · 24/03/2020 08:59

Hopefully now people will stay home as requested, there will always be people that flout regulations, but in the main we will be safer for these rules

A lot of people seem to be having a really hard time getting it through their heads that they shouldn’t be going out multiple times a day, multiple times a week, to multiple shops etc etc.

Of course there are valid exceptions. But the rest of us should be limiting it severely.

Duchessofblandings · 24/03/2020 09:48

Through their thick heads .....,.

Ninkanink · 24/03/2020 09:49

Yes...and I’m gonna say it: this is why prepping is sensible.
