Anyone actually stayed at home?

Has anyone just stayed home, not gone out anywhere today?

I’ve kept myself to myself, been back to my empty home (caring for Df) to collect a couple of things

Not been anywhere else, no shopping, no going to the park etc

It’s not easy, but I want to keep safe

I've not left the house since Wednesday lunchtime, the kids have been in since after school on Thursday and DH nipped to the chemist for my antibiotics on Friday and has been home since. I've had a fever so had to stay in.

I love being at home, it's my favourite place, it has wine, chocolate, coffee, tv and my new very comfy bed, I think I might be a hermit.

HelpFlattenTheCurve · 23/03/2020 00:34

Home all day today, for the whole family.

Went out for a walk in the park a few days ago, hoping to maintain adequate distancing, but realised that was impossible. No parks for me since then.

We have to go out to get food unless we can find a way to get deliveries. I may need to visit a nearby letterbox. Otherwise, it's probably going to be full lockdown for the whole family for at least a month, but more likely 2 or 3.

It's highly inconvenient and a disappointing way to spend the spring, but if we can prevent even 1 death or serious illness by doing this without waiting for government orders, then it is well worth it.

penisbeakers · 23/03/2020 00:39

Yes for the last seven days.

Iamamoleinthegarden · 23/03/2020 00:40

Walking the dog is not staying at home. Do you have trouble understanding instructions.

DramaAlpaca · 23/03/2020 00:52

Yep. I've been home all weekend, as has young adult DS. DH drove to somewhere remote today to give the dogs a good run. I finished work on Friday for the forseeable future so I'll be at home from now on, apart from a trip to the local shop for essentials which I will try to do once a week only. I am grateful for a large garden and lots of jobs that need doing at home.

MissyJane2 · 23/03/2020 01:04

Yes I have stayed at home for up to 3 weeks in the past.Well about 2 months ago in November when it was raining every day so I did not want to go out.

Then at Christmas and New Year because there was no public transport and the shops were closed.

Then last year when I had the flue for 3 weeks.

But that was when things were normal and I could get online grocerys from Tesco and Sainsburys delivered to my home. So I did not have to run to the supermarket to get them.

I would just go online the day before and get a delivery slot for the next day and they would come the following morning. I don't have a car or drive so this was convenient for me. And a lifesaver when I could not get out because the weather was bad and I was ill.

But now I can't because since this crisis I can no longer get home delivery. The delivery slots are now 6 weeks in advance so no delivery slots for 6 weeks. So I have no choice but to go out to the shops even though I am not very well because of this.
I don't know what the old people are going to do as you can't get an online grocery delivery slot at all now.

adiposegirl2 · 23/03/2020 01:11

I have been out once in the past 9 days

Pixxie7 · 23/03/2020 01:38

Absolutely.

VanGoghsDog · 23/03/2020 01:44

Yep, other than waking from the back to the front of my house to put the lawnmower away, I've been in all day.

Same yesterday other than delivering the parish newsletter to two streets, fifteen minutes out, passed no-one.

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 03:21

Been stuck in since last wed with three men!
It's been hard going. Ds2 has asthma and he is scared. I've obeyed the rules and others haven't.

Frownette · 23/03/2020 03:31

I've been in all the time aside from brief forays for food/household items

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 03:46

The amount of people that think this is hyperbole and Boris said 12 weeks and it's all over is scary.
I feel for my friend whose work place refuses to close and she is at risk as her customers are elderly. She is furious and she has to work so no choice.

Fozzleyplum · 23/03/2020 04:06

DH and I walked to the pharmacy yesterday. He went in whilst I stood

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 04:08

I've had people say ' I can't stay home'
They will have to soon.

Fozzleyplum · 23/03/2020 04:15

..oops. He went in and I waited outside. Went for a long walk from home yesterday, on a remote public footpath. Was dismayed to see parents with children running round the shops on Saturday, and when we did encounter anyone on the walk, we were having to make it clear we were keeping a 2m distance, before most others made an effort to do the same. Some people really are not " getting it".

Egghead68 · 23/03/2020 04:22

Activity and exercise though? Those voluntarily staying indoors how are you keeping active?
You are allowed out you know and can go to empty outdoor spaces. Your health will suffer.

The 1.5 million most vulnerable of us are not allowed out, even for exercise. I’ve bought a cheap exercise bike and some weights and am using these plus the odd YouTube video at home.

CrunchyCarrot · 23/03/2020 04:44

That's my life almost every day, even before coronavirus, as I'm disabled. So for me it's business as usual, with the exception that I have DP home with me as well, he's working from home. It is hard to adjust to being home all the time but I have already been through that several years ago when I developed health problems. Turns out there's lots to do at home once you stop thinking about the things you can't do (i.e. going out).

SQuueze · 23/03/2020 04:45

I’m not staying in for days...I don’t have to self isolate due to possibly being infected and I’m notin a vulnerable group.

I am social distancing. 2 metres away on a walk is fine.

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/03/2020 04:54

Yes.

I went for a run. Today the kids and I will pick up the last ever food collection I
Could get.

Dh will mostly get shopping from now on.

Apart from walks around the block and out in no where if we can safely that's it.

wecandothispeeps · 23/03/2020 05:04

Walking dogs daily and staying at home.

KeepWashingThoseHands · 23/03/2020 06:41

Yes

DH not been out for over a week and DD for about 5 days since finishing school early. I've been to the supermarket once and have to collect a prescription later. We've been in the garden with weather being nice and exercising in the house. Could go for a walk later as quiet around.

No one has symptoms, we're following the guidelines as that's what we should ALL be doing. I'm disgusted at those who aren't.

If people think Google maps or other equivalents on your phones can't track where they've been they're mistaken. Didn't they deploy use of similar technologies in China during lockdown? If people here can't be trusted I'd have no problem the UK doing similar.

Luckily I'm not in charge but if the NHS gets overwhelmed and has to prioritize treatment, anyone who's been in a pub or behaving inconsiderately in this way would be bottom of the list.

cucumber66 · 23/03/2020 06:43

Me. My business is going under and I feel too depressed to leave the house anyway. May as well enjoy it before we’re forced to sell up later in the year.

crazydiamond222 · 23/03/2020 06:45

We have walked in the woods that are next to our house (rural area) but other than that none of our household have been out for 10 days. We have had builders in the garden though as extension is being built Shock

daisypond · 23/03/2020 06:53

It’s astonishing the number of people who say they have stayed at home, but then go on to say that they walked the dog, went to the shop, delivered letters etc. That’s not staying inside. Those might be essential jobs that had to be done, that’s fine, but don’t claim you stayed inside, then.

SunshineCake · 23/03/2020 06:55

So many people saying haven't left the house except for work or shopping. Then you've left the house and not stayed in 24/7.
