Where are all these people who are out and about? I live in one of the most touristy cities on the planet. It's like a ghost town. I don't know a single person who's going out...

I live close to Bournemouth, this is Bournemouth Beach. Also Clapham Common. They’ve all gone out in the fresh air and have no idea about social distancing. Madness.

Hell's teeth, Janus

That's just ridiculous!

MurrayTheMonk · 23/03/2020 07:26

Yes. A bloody week ago would have been better.

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/03/2020 07:29

If we don't go into lockdown this week (ideally from tomorrow, with notice being given at today's conference), it's just going to be like the bloody school holidays with people swanning about everywhere with their kids.

I'm hoping it will get announced later today.

Thespiceisright · 23/03/2020 07:34

We did the same and I feel the same about my freedom now. The people calling for lockdown are most likely the people who laughed at those of us who took this seriously 2 weeks ago and did the right thing back then

This is certainly true for me. On my facebook posting memes about ‘it’s just flu’ then screaming about bringing the army in and demanding lock down whilst panic buying then complaining last night about Mac Donald’s closing down.

Im bloody scared about what state the country will be in after this. I work in debt help and we’ve already had lots of people asking advice this weekend about options of debt help.

I’m astounded at the online pics of people enjoying their ‘social distancing’ some people are truly idiots. But I’m not doing that and neither are a lot of other people.

We’ve just started to come out of ten years of austerity - the benefit system is still very badly broken this will push thousands on to an already failing system.

Very bad times ahead

mrssunshinexxx · 23/03/2020 07:43

@covetingthepreciousthings I'm hoping the same as you .. v strongly
Please let him do the right thing

teta · 23/03/2020 07:51

We need a lockdown as many Individuals do not appear to have a brain. I live next to a beauty spot. Most of West Midlands turned up this weekend. Lots of tourists in the town were shopping this weekend
, including many of the elderly, some saying they didn't feel well.
To put it simply, many thousands will die if we don't lock down now. These people will die gasping for breath, because there is no oxygen left and the hospital's are overwhelmed. This is not just an older persons disease. Healthy young people are getting very sick and needing lots of care.
So start thinking 'what if I get ill', because at this stage we really do need to plan for the worse, hope for the best.

news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-emergency-laws-as-uk-heads-towards-lockdown-11962132

I found this article from this morning quite reassuring. It sounds like IT IS coming, but more a case of when, and that the law needs to be passed first?

So roll on 5pm today for the announcement!

BlueMoon1103 · 23/03/2020 07:55

No!

Sushiroller · 23/03/2020 07:57

Yes.the uk have demonstrated they cannot behave sensibly.

Thespiceisright · 23/03/2020 08:22

I’m in the U.K and I’m behaving sensible, don’t know what your doing. Don’t lump me in with the idiots your describing

Etinox · 23/03/2020 09:10

“Don’t lump me in with the idiots”
That’s the point isn’t it. Like it or not, you are lumped in with all the idiots. The virus isn’t going to pass you by because you’ve behaved responsibly.

user1333796 · 23/03/2020 09:13

Yes

Sadly I agree with this. It won't matter that you've behaved responsibly, the actions of the 'idiots' have put us all at risk, in much the same way that 'idiots' on the road put careful drivers and pedestrians at risk.

Caramel78 · 23/03/2020 09:22

Yes (even though I will absolutely hate it I think it’s necessary and needs to happen ASAP)

Happygirl79 · 23/03/2020 09:27

Yes

Sushiroller · 23/03/2020 09:27

To clarify, I am in the uk myself, in a london hotspot in fact.

I'm horrified at the behaviour of people around me. our next door neighbours had a garden party on sunday!?

As others have highlighted.
like it or not, you are lumped in with the idiots

derekmorgan · 23/03/2020 09:28

Yes. Sad as it is to think about I feel it needs to be done.

The80sweregreat · 23/03/2020 09:40

If people can go around drilling holes in ambulances then they should be locked up for our own safety , as well as the ones working trying to fight off this disease.
I'm appalled to be living on the same planet as they are. Totally cunts.
Bring on lockdown ASAP.
My son is asthmatic and fighting for breath whilst they were doing this.
I'm day six of isolation and so depressed at humanity

drinkingwineoutofamug · 23/03/2020 10:25

Yes.
I'm a student atm who used to work on icu.
I am waiting for the phone call to tell me to go back.
I'm scared.
So people please please please stay at home .

lubeybooby · 23/03/2020 10:28

Yes. Full lockdown. Police and military, with fines for breaking rules as per other countries. ASAP

MarshaBradyo · 23/03/2020 10:32

NZ are doing it they are right at the start of numbers.

heathspeedwell · 23/03/2020 10:50

We desperately need to lockdown as soon as possible.

Plenty of people are stupid or selfish and happy to risk their own lives and other people's.

Look how many people used to drink drive until it was policed with heavy fines - it's no good asking everyone nicely - some people need to be told.

Other countries sensibly locked down much sooner. Boris ignored the scientists and he will have blood on his hands.
