Ffs neighbours are having a garden party

WTAF!?
Just popped out to hang my washing. My dc joined me for a run around.
Lots of noise coming from the neighbours garden (next door but one). Including a continuous cough.
They’ve got four extra cars parked on their drive.
What’s wrong with people?
Why would people do this?

I really despair. This sort of thing is happening in my street too. I wonder if some people are avoiding/not watching the news and or are just selfish or utterly stupid and don’t get it.

FlamingoAndJohn · 22/03/2020 13:29

Why won’t people listen?
The sad thing is that they are going end up having to make it law to stay in your house. And no one wants that.

CuckooCuckooClock · 22/03/2020 13:30

I would like them to make it law. Then I could report the fuckers

They’re probably the same people who will send their dc to my school tomorrow claiming they are key workers.

This is going to put us in a lockdown.

TheReluctantCountess · 22/03/2020 13:33

People are stupid.

Mummiepig · 22/03/2020 13:34

Yep same here, neighbours across the road, grandparents pull up in car, grandad helps frail grandma out of the car and they go in the house for Sunday lunch (same as any other week) mother is a teacher so probably quite risky, I just don’t understand people

Cheesypotato · 22/03/2020 13:34

I live in the Highlands, I have seen more caravans bumbling along than I normally see in peak season. People are idiots.

Mustbetimeforachange · 22/03/2020 13:36

We are planning a walk with friends this afternoon (2 metres apart) then we will have a cup of tea in the garden, also 2 m apart. This is good for our mental health. Maybe your neighbours are doing the same?

happytobemrsg · 22/03/2020 13:37

My BIL is frequently visiting my MIL who has severe asthma. I just don’t get it. So selfish

YgritteSnow · 22/03/2020 13:39

@Mustbetimeforachange bending the rules to suit yourself that's all you're doing. There's no reason whatsoever that you have to go "walking with friends" this afternoon. You and others like you are part of the problem whatever you tell yourself.

PurpleDaisies · 22/03/2020 13:39

You’re being very irresponsible mustbetime.

Have a look at this...

CuckooCuckooClock · 22/03/2020 13:43

I’m getting pretty sick of the ‘good for my mental health’ excuse too.
How will people's mental health be when a loved one dies because they need critical care that’s not available?

You know nothing of my situation. I live in the countryside. Am I not allowed to go for an isolated walk with friends who will be 2 metres away at all times? I have a family member who is very vulnerable and is staying shut away in another part of the house from us. The only time we can see each other is outside.

PurpleDaisies · 22/03/2020 13:52

Am I not allowed to go for an isolated walk with friends who will be 2 metres away at all times?

You are not allowed. This is non essential social contact. Why is it so hard to understand that?

That advice is for everybody. Can you explain how that doesn’t include you?

PurpleDaisies · 22/03/2020 13:53

The only time we can see each other is outside.
Tough. You shouldn’t be seeing each other. Every person in the country has make sacrifices.

JudyCoolibar · 22/03/2020 13:53

Unfortunately everything to do with Brexit has demonstrated that there are is an awful lot of outright stupidity around I'm afraid we're simply seeing the logical corollary of that.

TheReluctantCountess · 22/03/2020 13:54

You’ve got a vulnerable person in the house, and you still think it’s ok to go out to meet friends?

RandomComment · 22/03/2020 13:54

Natural selection, not for them but their older members of their family and friends.

definitelygc · 22/03/2020 13:57

Some people just don't care. A friend of mine caters for parties and assumed she'd be out of work for the rest of the year. Yet all the events she had in her diary seem to be going ahead, she's even had new customers calling her up. She wants to say no because she knows it's not right but it's highly unlikely they'll cancel the parties just because she doesn't do the catering and she's got no other income. Wtf is wrong with people.

Mummiepig · 22/03/2020 13:58

People seem to be having difficulty understanding the words , NON ESSENTIAL and STAY HOME
Totally agree about the “mental health” card, when your elderly friend/relative is left to die because there aren’t enough incubators to go round, see how your mental health is then, that walk in the park and cup of tea in the garden won’t seem so essential then will it

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 22/03/2020 13:58

I had an argument with someone about this.

He said that natural selection should be allowed to run its course and his freedom to go to the pub should not be impacted. I agreed that natural selection would run its course with him...

Ffs neighbours are having a garden party
Helpwithaversion · 22/03/2020 13:58

Natural selection it seems

These people in parks, at beaches, having parties and fighting in supermarkets are all just idiots. I’m starting to wonder what on Earth is wrong with them

EstuaryBird · 22/03/2020 13:58

Ours too. Whole load of them turned up about an hour ago, I was out on the drive doing some weeding and the woman said ‘it’s OK, it’s just family’.....

You can’t help stupid.

HooverVacuum · 22/03/2020 13:59

You are not allowed. This is non essential social contact. Why is it so hard to understand that?

What @PurpleDaisies said.

People are f*cking idiotic. This is what will lead to the country being lockdown and more people dying that necessary.

It is not "avoid all unnecessary social contact unless you live in the country and your name is Sarah and you feel like seeing your friends but will stay 2m apart"
or "avoid unnecessary social contact except for me because I can sit in the back garden with my buddies have have a cup of tea".

You and your friends are the whole problem.
