Ffs neighbours are having a garden party

WTAF!?
Just popped out to hang my washing. My dc joined me for a run around.
Lots of noise coming from the neighbours garden (next door but one). Including a continuous cough.
They’ve got four extra cars parked on their drive.
What’s wrong with people?
Why would people do this?

@LetsGoFlyAKiteee yes that's exactly what it's saying.

We've removed this one as it refers to a post that we've previously deleted.

Sadly no it’s not natural selection. Agree with pp. That's why people are so on edge and cross about it.

Soontobe60 · 22/03/2020 15:25

@Mustbetimeforachange
Thank you! Believe me I will not put anyone in any danger. We are following all advice. This is social distancing

No, this is sheer stupidity. By having friends round you're putting people in danger. By walking with them you're putting people in danger. Do you not get it? You're a fucking moron if you think otherwise.

BackseatCookers · 22/03/2020 15:27

Just heard an ice cream van go past. Fucking hell.

Are people not watching what is happening in Italy and Spain?

Why on earth do they think it will be any different here when we are following Italy's rate of cases so accurately around 2-3 weeks behind?

I honestly can't tell whether stupidity or selfishness or a mixture of the two is fuelling this refusal to adhere to social distancing.

The last few days have proven beyond all doubt that social distancing won't work unless enforced through a lockdown.

I can't believe the government is watching this happen while they can see what is happening elsewhere.

lulufufu · 22/03/2020 15:27

We're going to need full lockdown enforced. People are too think or selfish to understand the nuanced advice. Park are across from me is rammed full of people.

QueenofDestruction · 22/03/2020 15:27

I am gobsmacked how selfish people are, someone is always the exception. What about my mental health. What about me. Lockdown is not easy for anyone but it is the right thing to do. Because soon the NHS won't be able to cope and it won't just be those elderly you don't know who die, think about it you break your arm, have a car accident will there be an available ambulance to get to you in time. Will there be help for you if you have a heart attack or if a child gets meningitis

Blondiney · 22/03/2020 15:29

I'm having to walk my dogs after dark to avoid the crowds. Why are the masses treating this like one giant bank holiday? I could cry, again.

Bananaman123 · 22/03/2020 15:30

Same here, the slightest bit of sun, they are drinking in the garden all day, idiots

Soontobe60 · 22/03/2020 15:30

@allthiswasunseen

The same link also says this
Avoid gatherings with friends and family. Keep in touch using remote technology such as phone, internet, and social media
Everyone should be trying to follow these measures as much as is practicable.
We strongly advise you to follow the above measures as much as you can and to significantly limit your face-to-face interaction with friends and family if possible

So, no, nobody should be out socialising with friends and family whom they do not already live with. It couldn't be any clearer.

Oakmaiden · 22/03/2020 15:31

I wanted to phone someone to report it but who

As long as it is only "against guidelines" rather than against the law, people will do what they want.

It sucks, and it is stupid, but there is nothing we can do except hope our dear Govt are paying attention.

Frenchw1fe · 22/03/2020 15:32

Last Sunday in France people were walking in parks etc. 24 hours later Macron said enough. Since Tuesday I have been out once to shop for 30 minutes carrying my movement papers and I’d.
I wish I could get my family to France because I’m watching the uk and just terrified how many of you will die.
People are still dying in France but we are doing everything possible to flatten the curve.
You need regulations, the French would still be out without enforcement and it’s the only way to go.

Frenchw1fe · 22/03/2020 15:32

Id

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 15:33

I did hear from a friend that NZ have a ‘dobbing in line’ which I thought sounded good (being Aus appreciating the language).

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 15:33

No idea what they do with the info though. Think it’s for self isolation breakers

slashlover · 22/03/2020 15:34

Surely people can see the difference between passing someone 2m apart for 5 seconds and walking with someone 2m apart for 30 minutes?

On our street we have all been isolating ourselves. But getting out for walks when we can.

That's NOT isolating.

Avoid all non essential contact.

That is the advice. The bottom line, fundamental advice.

Avoid all non essential contact.

Are you watching what's happening in Italy and Spain? Doesn't it break your heart? Why do you think it won't happen here?

Rosehip10 · 22/03/2020 15:36

Richmond park in London packed today - groups of friends with children playing and chatting.

SunshineCake · 22/03/2020 15:36

This is like a biological version of being a drunk driver who crashes their car and kills innocent people but they survive.

StealthPolarBear · 22/03/2020 15:40

Nanny0gg I agree. Plus the child who didn't get ill doesn't have to isolate, even though thet may have been lucky enough to avoid catching it from the mother, but may then catch it from the father. Later.

PatchworkElmer · 22/03/2020 15:43

Makes me cross OP- we saw a few houses with lots of cars on the drive today, reckon that they’re carrying on as normal on Mother’s Day. Selfish arses.

Smithtylater · 22/03/2020 15:49

My mum's neighbours are having a barbeque?! And all of their relatives have come over! Unbelievable..

CrazyTimesAreOccurring · 22/03/2020 15:49

I have to go to work to care for the dcs of keyworkers, but am hoping there arent many. Enforcing a 2 metre rule will be interesting. To me now, work is non essential, to my work it is essential. To me, getting food is essential, looking after my dcs is essential (they are old enough to be left on their own - but I mean working is essential for the money), looking after my parents is essential. So I have to work to look after KW kids, but am also then putting myself at risk and chancing picking up something, then passing it on and not being able to care for my family....

So - do I ring in work as I dont want to put myself at risk, therefore letting my co-workers take the strain, or carry on and if I go down with CV the whole shebang in my personal life goes down.

DomsInDaBunglaow · 22/03/2020 15:54

Anyone who has sent a mother’s day card today without instructing the recipient to wash their hands after opening it has pretty much nailed their coffin if mum is in very vulnerable group
This is rubbish! It was stated on a news programme this morning by a scientist that although the virus lives for up to 72 hours on hard surfaces, ie wood, metal, hard plastic, it's doesn't survive for long on paper and card or cloth.
For this reason people delivering take aways are leaving food on peoples door steps in cardboard and paper bags.

madcatladyforever · 22/03/2020 15:56

If I hear another one of these stories I swear I will literally self combust. My rage with stupid people will cause me to explode. It will be very messy.
