Ffs neighbours are having a garden party

WTAF!?
Just popped out to hang my washing. My dc joined me for a run around.
Lots of noise coming from the neighbours garden (next door but one). Including a continuous cough.
They’ve got four extra cars parked on their drive.
What’s wrong with people?
Why would people do this?

@Sashandruby1990

Bloody hell I'm so sorry that you're being thoughtful of others on top of your own responsibilities and other people aren't doing the same. Ugh. Poor you, I really hope you're all ok Thanks

SandwhichGenerationGal · 23/03/2020 19:28

For those of you incapable of staying in. This puts things into perspective.

earnshaw47 · 23/03/2020 19:30

my faith and expectations in the public has, i am afraid, taken a nose dive

Therapywitch · 23/03/2020 19:40

I think you’re being a bit harsh on Mustbetimeforachange. If she was defending a walk with friends in Richmond Park at the weekend then I think it would be fair to have a go. But we have had quite a few mixed messages and one of the Coronavirus updates (22/3 I think) the spokesman said a walk outside with others is good but you must maintain social distancing. The problem is maintaining that in urban areas. For example I had a man standing right next to me in a queue and when I said he needed to move further back because of social distancing he acted like I was mad. If you have to be angry save your anger for those people.

Disney2017 · 23/03/2020 19:42

This relates to MY child. PLEASE STAY AT HOME!!!

@Mustbetimeforachange you do know that the virus lives on surfaces, right? Anything up to 72 hrs. Who is making and handling the tea after the walk? Will your guests be sitting or standing? How can you ensure you'll be 2m apart at all times? What if a member off your party forgets and is only a meter from you. What if you round a corner and bump into someone who's infected who then passes it on to you? How can you be sure the person you're out with is 100% observing the guidelines? Walking is indeed good for mental health but go it alone or the people you live with. Please don't be on the wrong side of history when this thing is said and done.

marferret · 23/03/2020 20:00

Don't the guidelines say that you can go out if you keep a 2metre distance between you and other people ? So going out for a walk with well-spaced friends (if you see what I mean) is fine, and so is sitting in the garden 2m apart .................?

YgritteSnow · 23/03/2020 20:02

I think a lot of people don't read or watch the news tbh. I think they know about this on the periphery of their lives but don't see it as something that will particularly affect them. So they just carry on doing what they want because they don't have a vulnerable person in their lives and the whole thing has very little meaning to them.

marferret · 23/03/2020 20:03

And you either wipe down the kettle handle with disnfectant/wear gloves/gather up all the crockery and wash it in hot water/wash your hands.....

Amboseli · 23/03/2020 20:05

It's going to get worse once clocks go forward next weekend and we get longer warmer evenings. Everyone will be out socialising Hmm

Mustbetimeforachange · 23/03/2020 20:30

Yes, thanks Tubs11, I'm a microbiologist.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 23/03/2020 20:39

Well cant get any clearer then what has been said now.

PurpleDaisies · 23/03/2020 20:39

Well it’s totally clear now.

Mba1974 · 23/03/2020 20:42

Got the point now!?

yesyesdear · 23/03/2020 20:56

Yet more nominees for the Darwin Awards...except not just themselves they’re endangering, but others too. Morons.

Blondiney · 23/03/2020 20:58

Thank. Fuck. For. That.

Clarity at last to aid those hard of thinking/willfully ignorant/selfish cunts.

pepsirolla · 23/03/2020 20:59

Hope the message is clear nowHmm

Stressybetty · 23/03/2020 21:24

I don't know how they are going to effectively enforce it. Round here so many people don't care.

Merryweather80 · 23/03/2020 21:24

Lockdown. Maybe now everyone will find it easier to understand and actually do.

earnshaw47 · 23/03/2020 21:41

what is wrong with people, its a case of , I`m all right jack

Queenofeverything44 · 23/03/2020 21:41

@Lincolnfield I'm sure people are treating this like a jolly jape or extra bank holidays. They absolutely refuse to believe they are in any danger or how seriously they are endangering others....
I am so angry. My daughter has heart and lung issues, I have been preparing since Jan, everyone laughed at me and they are still laughing at me. But I am very well prepared, I don't have to panic buy as I added a few extra things to my shop every week, I've built a little stash so now I don't have to take from those who need it most.. Ie the key workers. I am prepped for the long hual. I'm sure most think this will just blow over in a few weeks. Well with the way they are behaving it won't. Hope you stay safe and manage to dodge the grockles 😉

PenguinsOnParade · 24/03/2020 00:32

Well my "isolating sign" neighbours had yet another gathering tonight. I think it annoys me more than they're the only ones in the whole street with a sign and they have more people in and out than anyone else as well.

pam290358 · 24/03/2020 04:48

Having just read this thread I understand why Boris Johnson has now legislated to keep people at home. Some people are either too selfish or too ignorant to fully grasp how they are putting others at risk. The message has been clear right up to the point where we now have to introduce police powers. Stay at home. Don’t visit friends or family. If they ask to visit, say no. Don’t go out unless absolutely essential. It’s not rocket science and it applies to everyone. No excuses.

JuneBuggy · 24/03/2020 06:41

“Yes, thanks Tubs11, I'm a microbiologist.”

Then you should know better than to be needlessly socialising Mustbe. FFS

Tubs11 · 24/03/2020 07:18

@Lincolnfield well said and well done. Last night's announcement couldn't have come sooner for those of use who are doing what's logical and necessary to bet the virus. Now that everyone is on lockdown we"re hopefully only two weeks away from seeing the numbers dip after the big peak. Stay safe and strength to your sister. Flowers
