Hi all, new thread as we'd neared the end of the other.

I thought it might be useful to list symptoms we are having / have had:

Day 1 - Diarrhea (mild), slight aches and pains
Day 2 - Flu like symptons, achey joints, fatigue, chills, slight cough, slight chest discomfort, upper back ache
Day 3 - Flu like symptons, achey joings, fatigue, chills, slight cough but felt better than Day 3
Day 4 - Perked up, still a slight cough but more energetic, chest 'ache'
Day 5 - Back to flu like symptoms, burning lungs sensation and ache around bra line began, upper back ache
Day 6 - Pains in chest area (intermittent), cough, fever, very heavy achey chest, trouble sleeping, bit breathless, can't lie on my back as painful
Day 7 - Increase of Day 7 symptoms, pains got sharper in chest
Day 8 - Same as day 7, fever, breathless, can't lie on my back
Day 9 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing
Day 10 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing, sore boobs
Day 11 - No fever, felt a bit better, mild chest ache, slight cough
Day 12 - today, exhausted, no fever, chest easing

I have had a tight chest for a few days & ended up taking robitussin chesty to try and clear it/ loosen it and it really helped (god knows what’s in it)- recommend if you can get some (not for asthmatics tho)

Springawake · 27/03/2020 05:47

My symptoms started about 8 days ago, to start with i generally just felt not myself a bit dazed, tired and out of it.

Then i started getting really bad headaches, tiredness, loss of appetite, and coughing every so often. then came symptoms that felt like id been hit with the flu and fever and my head and mouth felt swollen .

Now for the past 2 days ive hardly slept my fever has been up and down (worse of a night) im coughing my guts up with the most horrific barking/painful cough, my whole body hurts, i cant sleep, my lungs feel battered and bruised and every so often im coughing up yellow and brown phlegm.

Genuinly never felt this poorly and i cant wait for it to end. I did everything I could to avoid getting poorly and it still happened following the correct procedures . Id like to reiterate the importance of self isolation because trust me you really dont want to get this!

Springawake · 27/03/2020 05:49

Forgot to mention the first few days i had a burning sensation in my chest like really bad heartburn and ive had heart palpitations for about a week now!

Springawake · 27/03/2020 05:55

Oh and a weird feeling of pins and needles in my feet, hands and tongue!

Joeaj23 · 27/03/2020 06:10

@Springawake I’ve had a similar night in that I’ve been unable to sleep at all, every time I start to fall asleep I wake up feeling nauseous and terrified.

My chest is burning constantly and I’ve just been dry heaving for the last five minutes.

Waiting on a call back from 111 but I’m not sure what they will be able to do.

Agree this is the worst I’ve ever felt

Springawake · 27/03/2020 06:17

I havent rang 111 at all yet, but im debating it now.

stayathomegardener · 27/03/2020 06:19

Awake again. Used to sleep so well too.

Something I have found with this virus is it's diminished by heat.

Overdid it yesterday and the chest pains returned.
I can reduce the chest symptoms by having a hot bath with my chest submerged or a sauna.
I also read yesterday that in China it was found hot drinks had a positive impact.

Theredjellybean · 27/03/2020 06:23

I am. On day 11 and still feel grim
Its the headache that's worse.. And now lost my sense of taste and smell.. So can't even enjoy my gin and tonic

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/03/2020 06:34

Day 15 since the start of this cycle and feeling unwell. Day 12 of cough. The cough is so much better since taking antibiotics. The go told me to continue to isolate until I felt better. And now that this has been 4 days since starting the antibiotics, it is clear this was a secondary bacterial infection, I’m ready to go out if needed.

I am taking co-amoxiclav. I asked for this specifically as this is the one I need as all of the mycins make me very poorly.

user34254356 · 27/03/2020 06:36

@springawake that sounds awful !! i have had a bad night with my cough as well. Not sure what 111 will do except ask if you are breathing ok.

@jojeaj i also had terrible nausea for 2 days so hopefully you will get through it. Interested to know what 111 advise.

Anyone else waking up in the morning with really hot feet and hands after their fever had gone? I thought I had fever but the thermometer is showing normal temperature and after 15 mins or so my hands and feet feel normally. I had also felt chilly at night which would've been consistent with fever.

user34254356 · 27/03/2020 06:42

@Mummyoflittledragon that is very helpful to know about the cough getting better with antibiotics. Mine has just gone into over drive since yesterday and so I am also worried if this is a secondary infection given I am day 10 now.

HRH2020 · 27/03/2020 06:45

@quiet in our house DP said he felt 'coldy' first (sore throat and headache) he didn't develop any more symptoms but they went on for a week and a half. Then DS had very mild symptoms starting with a fever and chest pains. His babysitter started later that day as did I but none of us were incapacitated thankfully. I was off for three days then have wfh since. My friends have also only had mild symptoms.

onlinelinda · 27/03/2020 06:50

@casino you asked my age, I just noticed by checking email. I'm later 50s. Ive not been great at reading right down the thread as I'm still nervous about finding many worse symptoms than mine. I do squint down though! It really doesn't mean I'm not thinking about you all-I am.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/03/2020 06:50

user
I can normally tell when I have a secondary infection. I started sneezing far more when for the whole 10/11 days prior, I’d hardly sneezed.

EMichel102 · 27/03/2020 07:38

Do people still have the chest burning / heart burn sensation on Day 11? It seems to have become more consistent overnight and into this morning...

Stealthtoast · 27/03/2020 07:53

Morning all. This link is useful : how to improve outcomes even when you already have it, by exercise, fresh air and cleaning
necsi.edu/respiratory-health-for-better-covid-19-outcomes

tangledyarn · 27/03/2020 08:04

@emichel102 Yes unfortunately, I'm 3 weeks in now and still have it,l x

KayakingOnDown · 27/03/2020 08:08

Day 11
No better. Chest tightness and breathing issues still here. No relief as yet.

Interesting article Stealthtoast - but exercising when ill? That seems wrong. However, breathing exercises are a good idea. I've been doing Buteyko breathing exercises.

The other advice - to keep windows open, I've been doing too. I think a lot of us have had this craving for fresh air. At the same time I don't like my chest to get too cold (it's still cold weather where I am).

tangledyarn · 27/03/2020 08:10

@stealthtoast I managed to sit in the garden for half an hour yesterday after being trapped in bed for 2 weeks..the fresh air felt amazing for my breathing.

EMichel102 · 27/03/2020 08:15

Thanks @tangledyarn, weirdly reassuring I’m not regressing hopefully. Were you also fatigued / exhausted and still felt ill? Are you improving at all?

Eebahgumlass · 27/03/2020 08:17

Hello - started with a sore throat on Monday 16th. Barely any symptoms until Tuesday this week when started coughing. Last night was gulping with post nasal drip and felt like I was going to vomit with reflux. Could this be it? I think day 12 if the sore throat was the start. Feel anxious.

KinderWild · 27/03/2020 08:19

@KingaRoo I've been given doxycycline

tangledyarn · 27/03/2020 08:23

@emichel102 Yes all of those things sadly, I've been in bed for 2 weeks, I am gradually getting better but its up and down..eg I'll have a better day and then feel really awful again. Still struggling with being very breathless and having a lot of chest pain all the time and just feel very unwell-shaky, weak, fast heart rate, no apetite etc. The good news is I believe this is not abnormal..it can be a really long illness...but I've never felt so unwell so it's been v difficult but am a bit more accepting now that it's just gonna take time. Hope you start to feel a bit better soon xxx

longshot · 27/03/2020 08:23

@stealthtoast thank you. I feel there’s no info out there for people who have it other than isolate!

Day 17 here...slept ok but woke at 5 with chest ache, it just feels so constricted. I’m up and about now but I feel breathless again and chest feels wrong. This is so annoying.

Has anyone else still got the tight chest / breathlessness at this point. I am panicking and don’t feel I can call the GP again as they just say ‘it will take time, you don’t need antibiotics’.

And I am sorry to read some of the updates this morning, it sounds like lots of you have had much worse nights than me. It’s so flipping horrible isn’t it!
