Hi all, new thread as we'd neared the end of the other.

I thought it might be useful to list symptoms we are having / have had:

Day 1 - Diarrhea (mild), slight aches and pains
Day 2 - Flu like symptons, achey joints, fatigue, chills, slight cough, slight chest discomfort, upper back ache
Day 3 - Flu like symptons, achey joings, fatigue, chills, slight cough but felt better than Day 3
Day 4 - Perked up, still a slight cough but more energetic, chest 'ache'
Day 5 - Back to flu like symptoms, burning lungs sensation and ache around bra line began, upper back ache
Day 6 - Pains in chest area (intermittent), cough, fever, very heavy achey chest, trouble sleeping, bit breathless, can't lie on my back as painful
Day 7 - Increase of Day 7 symptoms, pains got sharper in chest
Day 8 - Same as day 7, fever, breathless, can't lie on my back
Day 9 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing
Day 10 - Feverish, exhausted, achey limbs, chest easing, sore boobs
Day 11 - No fever, felt a bit better, mild chest ache, slight cough
Day 12 - today, exhausted, no fever, chest easing

@Casino218 this is what I'm concerned about. However, even if I didn't have it 2 weeks ago doesn't mean it's not now. I feel dreadful. I haven't been out my partner had to go to work as a key worker at his university. He's fine though.

Lifesavesocialdistance · 26/03/2020 22:26

Well it can't get onto the app.
My smell has gone down for days, felt better though and me feel scared and strange again.. Worried I've definitely got it now more and more its coming out about symptoms... And I've got 2 dc.

Feeling scared for us all.

Sunnyhopefulness · 26/03/2020 22:28

I started with chest pains at the start of March - thought I’d strained a muscle or something exercising - it felt like wearing a too tight bra . I had a low level headache and By about day 6 was starting to struggle to concentrate - couldn’t find the right words when talking - and coughing a bit . I didn’t check my temperature but am at the age where I’d blame being hot on other things! Every time I tried to exercise I just felt worse. The low level headache was pretty constant for 3 weeks and has only recently cleared . The chest pain is now gone most of the time , though I do feel a bit breathless at times .At times I’ve had pains in my back and heartburn like discomfort ( not something I suffer from at all) . I honestly thought I’d pulled a muscle running though so did nothing about it - I only started to think about it when my husband also complained of chest pain ( which he said felt like being anxious or heartburn) and then over a few days started to cough , get headaches and got quite snotty . No temperature for him either.

If this is covid - then the NHS guidelines of what to look for are letting us all down - we were both pretty much recovered before we started to wonder about our symptoms - I’m in two minds though - think it’s perfectly possible there’s a weaker strain out there or just another unpleasant virus .

Spacecadetagain · 26/03/2020 22:30

Something I noticed today . I could smell the perfume diffuser by my front door for the first time in ages . I had realised my sense of smell hadn’t been so good . @longshot you hit the nail on the head ..it feels just like you are eight months pregnant and have a baby pushing up under your ribs !

Wilmalovescake · 26/03/2020 22:38

Painful sore throat, neck and ears.
Fatigue
Slight breathlessness
Slight cough
Heartburn type pain
Back pains
Slight dizziness
Occasional mild fever

I really hope this is a mild version of it and I can get back to being useful. I hope we’re all having mild versions of it.

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 26/03/2020 22:41

I have now turned a corner- was able to bake a bit today and do a few chores. Just a slight headache upon waking and a bit of breathlessness at times- but much improved.

tangledyarn · 26/03/2020 22:43

@Squashedflybiscuit I had the same thing, peak flow was really bad for a few days but started using symbicort 4x a day rather than 2x now its not too bad, but am still very breathless and breathing is fast and shallow, its a very different experience to when it's a normal asthma flare.

KinderWild · 26/03/2020 22:47

Hi all - I've been lurking on this thread for a while.

I had day surgery under general in mid/late Feb. 2 days later my lungs felt like they were on fire, i had cold shivers, a splitting headache, dizziness, blurred vision, crushing chest pain and thought i was having a heart attack, intense confusion, and no energy. This went on for about for 5 days.

I thought maybe it was the general. A bad reaction? Or being intubated. My lungs have continued to burn, cold shivers on and off, no temp, struggling to stay warm, tummy pains, and then the cough started about 11 days ago.

I finally gave up trying to solider on and spoke to my docs yesterday who have prescribed antibiotics, and said to call back if i'm not picking up in a week. My breathing is okay ish but i cough on pretty much every breath and my back and shoulder blades are agony. :(

KingaRoo · 26/03/2020 22:53

Those who have been prescribed antibiotics, can I ask which ones you've been given?

wherearemychickens · 26/03/2020 22:55

I have had fairly mild symptoms - a tight chest (and for a couple of days last week really weird reflux type symptoms I have never had before) and an intermittent dry cough - and I've probably had them for coming to 10 days now. Has anyone had this and then gone on to develop something more serious? I'm just wondering whether this is it, or I'm still at risk of something worse (if this is Covid - it may not be).

ofwarren · 26/03/2020 22:57

@wherearemychickens
I started with 3 days of what felt like horrendous acid reflux.

IpanemaGallina · 26/03/2020 23:02

whereare There seems so much variation in symptoms. My chest pain and tightness have felt very different from my usual asthma. I started with what I thought was heartburn. Followed by tummy cramps issues. No cough as yet.

Struggling with a fever tonight and extreme nausea so can’t sleep.

wherearemychickens · 26/03/2020 23:07

I would pay good money for an antibody test at this point, just to know.

I've seen some of your posts Ofwarren, and really hope you all get through this - it sounds like you really couldn't have done any more to protect yourselves.

hewasbarmyMissBabs · 26/03/2020 23:07

Hi I'd like to join if that's ok :)

I've been reading quite a lot of this thread and want to start by saying how sorry I am you're all (or have been) struggling with so much uncertainty about your various symptoms. And some of you dealing with DCs who are showing signs too, it's such a worrying time. My niece (7) started with a cough 3 days or so ago and I couldn't stop worrying about her. Unable to visit too, since lockdown, but mercifully we had a video call today and she appears to be on the mend already (although I feel superstitious saying that!) Always a worry because she has a congenital heart condition and another lifelong medical need and sometimes struggles with respiratory symptoms.

Well, I'm really going through it. For weeks before about Monday 16th I had a pretty productive cough and awful headaches on and off. I was getting on with things though and then my sister who works in a local primary school came down with an awful virus and had to take 3 days off work (she's hardly ever ill). I'm there most days and was there a fair bit while she was really going through it. She went back to work on the 12th and then by Monday 16th things were really ramping up weren't they with the whole covid19 crisis. I still had a bit of my cough but sometime on that Monday I started to notice twinges in my mid-back. By Tuesday evening I was in considerable pain in that area, mostly on the right hand side, and in the ribs on that side also. Now bear in mind I had done absolutely nothing to cause this, no falls or twists or bumps, nothing. However, the pain was mostly in the same spot where I fractured my spine almost 7 years ago, following which I was diagnosed with osteoporosis (I'm 53 now, male). That was a long recovery and it's never been brilliant since but nothing like the kind of pain I've been in with it in the last 9 days, which seems to be getting even worse today.

On Thursday 20th I was telephone triaged by my GP who wanted me to go to our local hospital for an x-ray. I was supposed to pick up a request slip from the surgery to take to the hospital last Friday, but I started panicking at the thought of it being a 'hotbed' of corona cases and decided to wait over the weekend instead. The days went by, and I wasn't getting any decent sleep because I couldn't lie down comfortably and would sometimes awaken with jarring pain across my back. I couldn't figure it out - did I have a 'fragility fracture' (osteoporosis term) from doing nothing risky to my spine? But if so then why were so many of the muscles in my ribs and other parts of my thoracic spine also extremely painful? Surely I couldn't have fractured in all sorts of different places? But I can't overstate this: the pain was as severe as if I'd broken it again.

So then I'm thinking, is it corona? But I wasn't coughing at all (weirdly, since I'd had one for weeks which seemed to magically stop as this pain began); a couple of times I woke up feeling hot and sweaty but by no means every day. Most of the time my breathing has been fine, only occasionally a bit of a struggle when walking and carrying things, or if I got into a position that sent the pain ripping through me and then I'd be gasping until I moved in such a way that took the pressure off the muscles. I can't lay hands on a thermometer for love nor money round here at the moment and kept putting off buying one online because I wasn't sure how reliable a reasonably priced one would be! So I haven't taken my temperature at all and have no idea what my usual average temperature is. My appetite has been fine, although I've had to really psych myself up to cook or prepare food most days. I live alone, so keeping the kitchen tidy etc is all on me and usually I'm really good with washing up and stuff but have struggled this past week.

But by today I'm in even more pain and the ribs on my right side are as painful as the centre of my back (original fracture was to the T8 vertebra). Then I remembered that I broke those ribs years before I broke my back, and so I'm necking cocodamol, arnica every two hours, used voltarol gel on my ribs a couple of hours ago and am still having trouble moving from my sitting up in bed position. I feel like I must have covid19 and it has perhaps started off with more typical flu symptoms weeks ago but developed into a spiteful, nasty targeted attack on the weakest points in my upper body. Can it be a coincidence that all this pain has hit me out of thin air at this particular time?! At times I've felt as though there's a small rugby ball encasing my right lung when I take any deep breaths - the size of the heavy sensation and the almost solid feeling of it gives me that image, as bizarre as that sounds. And yet as I say, most of the time I'm not struggling to breathe or feeling particularly anxious (although I've been on Sertraline since last summer so if I wasn't I think I'd have died of fright by now!)

Part of me wants to go for the x-ray tomorrow, but my sister thinks I should just stay in bed for a few days and try my best to avoid the covid sick bay that our local hospital inevitably is at the moment. This week has been really tough with a deadline I had to meet, but that's it now, from this evening I can forget everything else if need be and focus on trying to heal from this. But for example, I've just taken a deep breath and it caused a cramp down the muscles on the right hand side of my spine, to about kidney level, that lasted a few seconds. That's the worst part of the pain, these jarring muscle cramps on moving and sometimes on deeper breaths. And they're getting more frequent.

Since we're all in lockdown and/or isolation, anyone fancy trying to diagnose me lol. (Sorry for the long boring post!)

Enough4me · 26/03/2020 23:14

I'm still none the wiser if I have Covid19. It started as heartburn for several days for me too, merged with a compression feeling like a small elephant foot pushing on the top of my chest, with a high temperature. Cough annoying, but not really that persistent, more than usual but just top of lung area affected and compression stopped on day 5. I'm on day 8 now and today woke with a sore throat and headache, which quickly went with painkillers.

I keep hearing about worse symptoms and thinking I can't have had it as not that bad - but in reality it was probably a mild case.

ShastaBeast · 27/03/2020 00:33

My cough is worse. Took an antibiotic just in case. Co amoxiclav. I also have penicillin which can be used for chest infections - left over from tonsillitis when I forgot I needed to take two not one each time, luckily it was working anyway, just slower.

Had a walk with the family but nothing energetic. I hope to get back to running during the lockdown but my lungs being well enough seems along way off. I was tired and felt sick after.

I’m still eating and feel better after food, less of an appetite but no loss of smell etc. Heartburn is easing but still taking gaviscon on top of lansoprazole. GP didn’t think heartburn was a symptom but it’s been mentioned a few times here.

Going out is hard as I cough more when moving around. I took tissues to cough into and waited until no one was close. I’m 14 days now, 11 from first cough, so apparently not infectious, but people are going to stare at anyone coughing like they have a zombie plague. I’ve tried to find videos of confirmed cases but they don’t seem to cough. Although I can talk for a while without coughing a lot of the time.

Quietisoverated · 27/03/2020 01:15

Really sorry if someone has already asked this but I can't find it. To everyone who started with symptoms did the people in your house start with symptoms at the same time ? I have no symptoms buy I worry as I have 2 young DSs 5 & 6 months both very affectionate towards me lots of kisses cuddles and general slumbering I'm petrified if I get it I will pass it on and not be able to care for them properly
Get well soon xx

Quietisoverated · 27/03/2020 01:16

*slobbering sorry typing whilst trying to get the younger one back off to sleep

Casino218 · 27/03/2020 01:22

@Quietisoverated DH and I a couple of days apart but the virus is infectious before symptoms begin so with close contact it's more than likely that if you get CV then it will have been passed on.

But children not experiencing the symptoms adults are its mild. For you you seem young ish so if no other factors you will be able to look after them. I've continued to work from home through it.

Quietisoverated · 27/03/2020 01:26

@Casino218 thank you so much for getting back to me that was my biggest worry. I hope your on the mend x

pinkoneblueone · 27/03/2020 02:37

My asthma isn't setting this evening and the clinician that called me back said that the symptoms we have do identify with the virus. I also came across an article that would lead me to Believe it is now

www.cnet.com/news/hospital-uses-vr-to-show-how-coronavirus-impacts-the-lungs/

I am currently waiting on a call back just onto day 17 I have no pain but my breathing is awful with my asthma. Let's hope this can be rectified soon!

Tempnamelady · 27/03/2020 02:47

I started with a bad sore throat and cough last FrIday /Saturday, been up and down all week, no temp though decent appetite and been wfh during the day.Cough has been fairly persistent throughout , I did call 111 and had a online dr consult last Sunday as I was experiencing slight breathlessness, for which they prescribed an inhaler.

Anyway cough worse than ever tonight, I’m sat up drinking Vimto with honey in, chests killing. So fed up. Still don’t know if the virus , husband and son have had it too. Not sure if there’s anything I can take other than paracetamol and just ride it out?

pinkoneblueone · 27/03/2020 02:55

If it is getting unmanageable call 111.

user34254356 · 27/03/2020 03:11

Same here @Tempnamelady. My cough has gotten worse yesterday and it's productive as well - having to constantly clear my throat. What about yours?

I was going to call my GP in the morning and get advice and antibiotics to see if they would help.

I am not keen to go to A and E given it's a hotbed of infections. So hoping I can ride it out at home.

user34254356 · 27/03/2020 03:13

@shastabeast are the antibiotics helping with your cough? Mine has got worse and i am now Day 10, so wondering if it could be a secondary infection as I can feel a lot of mucous down my throat too.

Any others having a productive cough now?
