@StormyClouds - www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-italy-army-transport-coffins-bergamo-morgue-crisis-video-2020-3?r=US&IR=T

I imagine that's the exact same argument the corpses inside these coffins came up with.

But hey go ahead and email it to the WHO Chief and see what he says.

StormyClouds · 20/03/2020 20:27

@alexdgr8

how many people do you think are in the vulnerable groups, inc pregnant, diabetic, anyone who had cancer, organ transplant, arthritis etc, MS, parkinsons ....heart, lung, kidney, spleen, problems...

And if the people in those particular groups stay safely at home, they will have no issues. I simply do not see why everyone else who is not at risk should be condemned to weeks of isolation.

I had dinner with friends tomorrow night, lunch with DH and DC and drinks with my DSis on Sunday planned that will now all have to be cancelled, and that is hundreds of pounds that will not be going into the hospitality sector and people who will be out of work. I will also not be able to go for my regular Saturday morning swim and sauna session.

Gfplux · 20/03/2020 20:28

Only in Britain could someone ask that question.

CoffeeHere · 20/03/2020 20:28

No. What is the bloody matter with people? I really didn't think people were this sense.

DareToEatAPeach · 20/03/2020 20:29

And if the people who are at risk of serious harm stay at home, carriers would only be infecting others like themselves who will get a bad cough at the worst.

If only this virus impacted those with the lowest IQ first...

StrawberryBlondeStar · 20/03/2020 20:30

@StormyClouds you aren’t at no risk. Statistically less risk, but not no risk. There are young people in London on ventilators as we speak.

Even if you have minimal or no symptoms you will spread to others who might.

MissBax · 20/03/2020 20:30

Stormy. I'm pregnant, my husband is still at work. In your world where only the vulnerable self isolate it wouldn't stop my husbands colleagues going out, catching Covid and passing it on to him who would then pass it on to me. Use your brain!

TeaAndDarkToast · 20/03/2020 20:30

Natural selection

serialtester · 20/03/2020 20:32

@stormyclouds I'll ask again - do you not read the news?

IrisAtwood · 20/03/2020 20:34

I had an appointment this morning that I cancelled. Guess I am growing my hair again!

MrsSnitchnose · 20/03/2020 20:34

Yes. I'll probably pick it up from work anyway

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 20/03/2020 20:36

My husband is a self employed hairdresser. I'm on maternity leave from the NHS and we're already struggling financially. I still don't think people should be going out to get their hair cut, it's not fucking important in the grand scheme of things. I'm desperately worried about money and childcare and a million other things but have been surprised how few cancellations he's had so far, hardly any. Will have to see what tomorrow brings as Saturday usually one of his busy days. Short answer- no.

middleager · 20/03/2020 20:37

Not again!
Nobody has worse roots than me right now, yet I cancelled my appointment on Weds.

I can't think of anywhere worse.
Lots of pensioners, equipment, shared chairs, 2 hours' duration.

No thanks.

IrisAtwood · 20/03/2020 20:38

@VenusClapTrap Do you have a pudding bowl and a pair of scissors? 😂

StarbucksSmarterSister · 20/03/2020 20:38

Jesus wept. Some people on here really must have an IQ that's smaller than their shoe size.

MrsDrudge · 20/03/2020 20:39

A big fat no from me. Not essential .

IrisAtwood · 20/03/2020 20:42

I think that Stormy is having a good laugh, while standing on the top of a building and shouting ‘Made it Ma! Top of the world!’
Hope some of you like film noir.

Coronahomeschoolhell · 20/03/2020 20:43

FFS no!
Due to a disability I can't even wash and dry my own hair. I go weekly to hairdresser. Yet this week I sat in my shower to wash my hair one-armed and DH attempted to blow dry and style it for me. It's probably very fortunate that we are not going out.

15 minutes within 2 metres of someone is classed as very close contact!

timetest · 20/03/2020 20:45

Personal grooming is way down the list of things I want to risk mine and my families health for.

VenusClapTrap · 20/03/2020 20:51

It will no doubt come to that, @IrisAtwood! Ds is very particular too. He’s already devastated about his birthday party being cancelled; a tragic hair cut will be the icing on his cancelled cake. 😬

user5656 · 20/03/2020 20:56

Support your hairdresser by potentially giving her Coronavirus, yeah great idea Confused

BreatheAndFocus · 20/03/2020 20:56

And if the people in those particular groups stay safely at home, they will have no issues. I simply do not see why everyone else who is not at risk should be condemned to weeks of isolation

Because we are trying to kill the virus! FFS! It needs people to reproduce and spread and grow. It jumps from person to person and those people are the stepping stones it uses to grow and grow.

*It is utterly irrelevant if those ‘stepping stones’ only get a mild illness. They still serve the viruses purpose by allowing it to grow and spread. It’s like a fire. You don’t line up kindling for the fire to spread round the country and grow so big it’s out of control, do you?

And NO, op. You shouldn’t go to the hairdresser because then you’ll be a really great stepping stone ensuring the virus grows, and we spend even longer under these strict controls.

IrisAtwood · 20/03/2020 20:56

@VenusClapTrap Sorry that you DS has missed his party. It’s hard for children and their parents too dealing with all of the disappointment and upset.
A friend of mine has said that her Dad has shaved his head because he’s always wanted to and now that he’s not seeing anyone or going out this is his chance!

Mimishimi · 20/03/2020 20:58

I'm a makeup artist. I've had loads of cancellations (about £1250 worth) in the past couple of days. It's mainly because people's events in the next few weeks are being cancelled, not because they have concerns about hygiene. Luckily I have no rent or staff to pay so I am only taking a hit to my income, not savings. I can't imagine how scary this time is for those who do.

vegansprinkle · 20/03/2020 21:31

People like stormy make me want to scratch out my own eyes.
