I hate it when people talk about the importance of supporting local businesses as if it’s more important than ..you know.. not spreading something that is killing people!

TeaAndDarkToast · 20/03/2020 19:43

why stop there. why not take in a show? use public transport. no doubt you'll be in the pub tonight and going out for a meal on Mothers' Day..

Connie222 · 20/03/2020 19:43

@StormyClouds are you serious or having an ill timed laugh?

MrsGrindah · 20/03/2020 19:43

@StormyClouds then we all had better fucking hope you are not infected .

VenusClapTrap · 20/03/2020 19:43

Ds desperately needs a hair cut. Anyone know how to cut little boys’ hair?

MrsGrindah · 20/03/2020 19:44

On second reading it’s clearly a joke

Ihateselfishbastards · 20/03/2020 19:45

Fuck me, how difficult is this? Do you have a friend or member of your family that you care about? If not, knock yourself out!

AdoptedBumpkin · 20/03/2020 19:45

Why bother taking the risk? Just find a way to manage it.

Jasquers · 20/03/2020 19:45

I give up. People really are stupid

Connie222 · 20/03/2020 19:46

@VenusClapTrap look on YouTube there are loads of how to videos. Ds is 17 and wouldn’t be impressed if I tried to do his!

PatchworkElmer · 20/03/2020 19:46

Absolutely not, no way.

serialtester · 20/03/2020 19:48

The government have ordered the closure of schools, pubs, theatres, cinemas, leisure centres etc.

Hospitals in London have reached ICU capacity.

And people are asking about hair and nails?? I honestly give up.

StormyClouds · 20/03/2020 19:49

IMO a far better strategy would have been simply to say to those most at risk 'stay at home', so they will not be infected.

Everyone else could then carry on their lives while taking sensible precautions, which would have avoided crashing the economy.

Yes, the infection rate would have been higher but the symptoms are very mild in most people and those in danger of complications would be protected.

JanewaysBun · 20/03/2020 19:50

No!

mrssunshinexxx · 20/03/2020 19:53

@StormyClouds you need to get your head out of your arse this will only last months or years if people continue to do what you have done today! Sooner people listen and do as we are told sooner this nightmare is over !!

1forAll74 · 20/03/2020 19:54

NO don't go., easy for me to say though, as I never visit a hairdresser !!
And don't think Boris does either. !!

serialtester · 20/03/2020 19:54

@stormyclouds that was actually announced on Monday. Along with advice about social distancing.

This virus takes out people with nice nails and thick fucks too.

BigChocFrenzy · 20/03/2020 19:56

"I went to the gym and swimming pool at the club"

Well they are closed from tonight until further notice

LargeGinOnTap · 20/03/2020 19:57

No I'm especially vulnerable.

The fact that I'm due to go in two weeks and I defo need to go and now it's going to be four months I dread to think what hairstyle I'll be rocking. I really hope the coronavirus self isolation hairdo is going to be the new hairstyle de jour

IWantT0BreakFree · 20/03/2020 19:57

Sad thing is that all these selfish people who defy clear advice (and common fucking sense) will probably come out the other side absolutely fine and feeling vindicated in their decision to carry on as normal. They will never know how many vulnerable or elderly people have suffered or died (alone, with no family around their hospital bed due to quarantine) as a direct consequence of their selfishness. If you go to the hairdressers, you run the risk of spreading the virus. You run the risk of directly causing someone a painful and lonely death. It's that fucking simple. Hope you enjoy your highlights and acrylic nails.

BigChocFrenzy · 20/03/2020 19:57

"the importance of supporting local businesses"

is beaten by
the importance of supporting local lives

serialtester · 20/03/2020 19:58

@stormyclouds I'd love to hear your thoughts on where China, Iran, Italy and Spain went wrong?

serialtester · 20/03/2020 19:59

@StormyClouds do you actually pay attention to the news??

vera99 · 20/03/2020 20:00

The herd immunity strategy isn't totally retired. If folk are healthy and won't come into contact with high-risk groups then some social activity and getting it and hopefully getting cured will contribute to helping that herd immunity in the long run. The problem with lockdown is you suppress the virus and when you unlock it sparks up again. So we probably need a mix and match of cocooning and protecting the most vulnerable and controlled social activity and infection for the rest.

BigChocFrenzy · 20/03/2020 20:00

Obviously people can't be trusted to keep social distancing

So I hope hairdressers, nail bars, masseurs, all shops except food & pharmacies, all social gatherings above about 20 people are also banned
