Just that really
I am fine no symptoms but am really torn if I should go or not as I also want to support my hairdresser.

What would you do ?

OP posts:
ofwarren · 20/03/2020 19:22

No. My husband is going to do my roots with a box dye and I've bought a set of hair clippers for the boys

fairydustandpixies · 20/03/2020 19:22

NO!!!!

ofwarren · 20/03/2020 19:22

Unhygienic not getting your hair cut? How?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/03/2020 19:23

No and just because Boris hasn't spelled it out yet ,it comes under non essential social contact.

LillianGish · 20/03/2020 19:23

I live in France - now under lockdown - getting my hair cut is the thing I wish I'd managed to squeeze in beforehand.

eurochick · 20/03/2020 19:25

No no no!

I badly need my roots done but nothing would make me go to the hairdresser at the moment.

Don't be a dick. We are supposed to be practising social distancing.

TiddyTid · 20/03/2020 19:25

My roots are abysmal but tough shit. Not like I can go anywhere where I'm seen.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 20/03/2020 19:25

No.

Clearly comes under the umbrella of non essential social contact.

I can’t see what’s so difficult to understand about that phrase.

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 20/03/2020 19:25

@starrysimon PLEASE cancel your appointment- as you're pregnant you're high risk, and any number of infected people could have gone to the salon before you. Your baby's health is more important than your hair, please don't let vanity override your duty to keep your child safe.

IceniSky · 20/03/2020 19:25

It's these attitudes which are dangerous, these actions will indirectly cause the death of people. What are you struggling to understand? I am so annoyed and fed up of people like you.

LIZS · 20/03/2020 19:25

I did yesterday. Might be last time in a long time and it was only me and hairdresser there. Tbh their business may struggle long term if they have to close.

swapsicles · 20/03/2020 19:26

Annoyingly DD has almost finished her level three hairdressing course and was going to trim my hair, she of course has left her scissors at college!

YakkityYakYakYak · 20/03/2020 19:27

No, of course not. On what planet is a haircut essential? Stay at home other than for essential reasons.

What are people not getting about this, seriously?! There will be real life consequences to all those people ignoring the guidance and swanning about all over the place this week. Those consequences will come in 2 weeks when those who’ve been unwittingly infected start developing symptoms.

You’ll never know whether you passed it on asymptomatically or not, but I would rather not spend the rest of my life wondering whether I contributed to the many thousands of deaths that are coming.

Glaceon · 20/03/2020 19:27

No. Why the fuck would you? Its hair. People need to get a grip.

dontaskformedicaladviceonmn · 20/03/2020 19:29

There was a similar post. One response was

Is the hair dresser Inspector Fucking Gadget with extendable arms such they can keep the minimal distance?

No. Don’t go.

I'm getting out the pudding bowl and cutting my own Grin. Because hardly anyone is going to see it anyway! I'm working from home but have told all my colleagues the video camera on my laptop is broken.

Seriously though, it's stupid and wtong to get nails done and haircuts now. If you want to do something for your hairdresser you can pay in advance for your next cut when this is over.

readingismycardio · 20/03/2020 19:31

I ve only washed my hair at the salon for the past 6! years. If I don't go, i'm sure you can stay at home.

EvilEdna1 · 20/03/2020 19:33

I had my hair cut yesterday. I touched no surfaces and I am less at risk in the hairdresser's which was empty than I am reluctantly working in a school office.

MerryDeath · 20/03/2020 19:34

no, i have cancelled my saturday morning appt (they are like hen's teeth at my salon too!)

wildthingsinthenight · 20/03/2020 19:35

stormyclouds there absolutely is an issue with getting your hair cut!
If it is not a food shop, a trip for medical supplies or work (if you have to) then it is not ok.
Honestly I have no words...

StrongMama1989 · 20/03/2020 19:37

Really?! You do know that those false nails have more germs than a toilet seat don’t you?!

Connie222 · 20/03/2020 19:38

My hair is horrible anyway so here’s my chance to grow it out I guess!

Dh and Ds are going to have to find a sheep shearer to do them at the end of this though, heaven knows what they will look like. Lucky we don’t plan on seeing anyone!

SouthWestmom · 20/03/2020 19:38

Stormy I think you may be bored ....

TeaAndDarkToast · 20/03/2020 19:38

Oh. My. Godddddddddddd

StormyClouds · 20/03/2020 19:39

I think we should be careful about what we're doing here. This crisis is going to go on for many months, if not years. It is simply not feasible everyone to stay at home at all times for that period.

I went to the gym and swimming pool at the club I'm a member at this morning, before having lunch at a cafe with friends and then having my hair cut.
