I won't but a lot of people are saying they are and it's still open so they are going etc.

OP posts:
WiseUpJanetWeiss · 19/03/2020 20:01

Duchess I was quoting someone else who is indeed a self-declared thick, selfish arsehole.

LittleRootie · 19/03/2020 20:05

As long as the Government allow pubs etc to remain open, some people will take that as being ok to go there.

pigsDOfly · 19/03/2020 20:08

My DD works in the hospitality industry. She won't stay home until they're told to close by the government because she's a hard worker, needs to earn a living and is loyal to her employer.

Meanwhile, she's surrounded by the sort of idiots who think it's their right to go here, there and everywhere and spread the virus far and wide.

Why in god's name the pubs and restaurants haven't been told to shut their doors I don't know. Bloody madness.

RedRed9 · 19/03/2020 20:09

@Herpesfreesince03 your argument doesn’t make sense.

  1. schools are closing, so your kids won’t be travelling by bus and going to school unless you’re a key worker.

  2. you’ve already highlighted two risks (travelling by public transport and going to school/work). Why worsen your odds yet again by adding another risk? It’s like plunging your hand in a bucket of needles over and over again just because you already did it once.

  3. if you don’t care about your own health, fine. But why risk the health, and lives, of others? For a pint?

StarbucksSmarterSister · 19/03/2020 20:11

No, because I'm not a fuckwit.

mondaynoon · 19/03/2020 20:12

No I won't. I can't risk catching it and passing it on as I have a vulnerable family member. I also don't think I will be paid next month so can't afford it.

ShanghaiDiva · 19/03/2020 20:15

No, not going.
Am also not a complete fuckwit.

Wiaa · 19/03/2020 20:15

Nope dh came home yesterday with a nasty cough so we're all self isolating dh7 days me and the kids 14 days

Letmehelpyoufindthedoor · 19/03/2020 20:16

I work in a kitchen in a restaurant and I'm horrified at the amount of people that are still coming in. Most of them older people, some bringing kids. My boss seems to be unphased by the whole thing and will not close until absolutely necessary. I'm also 29 weeks pregnant so hanging on to any hours I can get because I'm guessing I'll have to take early maternity leave. We still have people saying they will definitely be in on Mother's day!!!

Chinks123 · 19/03/2020 20:18

Just said this on another thread, but loads of people on Facebook are still going out. Local pubs/cafes and restaurants saying “please come support us” and lots commenting saying they’ll be coming. One comment of “great to see it absolutely packed last night, we’ll still be coming everyday”

It feels like everyone’s going about as normal, while I’m stuck in with both dc my friends were at soft play...

Chinks123 · 19/03/2020 20:19

Also just seen a post
“ we are still open, come support our local business! Now offering a children’s menu, 50% off next week.”

I know they’re scared of losing money, but encouraging people to take their kids out and mingle with everyone. Am I mad for keeping mine inside or is everyone else mad Hmm

MarshaBradyo · 19/03/2020 20:20

I suppose it’s natural for a business to try and survive if it’s open

People should do the right thing and stay away though

StarbucksSmarterSister · 19/03/2020 20:27

Look before people keep shouting for lockdown you need to spare a thought for the people it's impacting.

I have every sympathy for those who won't get paid or will lose their jobs. This includes some of my relatives (one of whom has very well managed underlying health issues but fortunately she doesn't need to use public transport) but I suggest you watch tonight's Ch4 news from Italy. It's horrific and frankly I'd rather my family members were jobless than dead.

JamesBlonde1 · 19/03/2020 20:27

Certainly not. Battening down the hatches now.

Chinks123 · 19/03/2020 20:28

Stolen from Facebook

This weekend will you be going to a pub or restaurant?
TSSDNCOP · 19/03/2020 20:34

Similarly I have two nail and eyebrow appointments booked, one Thursday 26th March, the second Thursday 9th April.

Im genuinely interested, how do you square this with social distancing?

Oblomov20 · 19/03/2020 20:34

Boris sadly needs to implement a shutdown. Only to deal with all these stupid people who won't obey his previous requests.

CremeEggThief · 19/03/2020 20:35

Of course not. Neither should anyone else.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/03/2020 20:35

Nope, I'll be ordering a takeaway from the restaurant though if they are still delivering.

MrsKingfisher · 19/03/2020 20:41

What is suggested for 2 parent household where the parent where the child lives still allows teen to socialise with friends? Non resident parent will have to socially distance from their child to prevent any potential spread?

Not my child and parents have spoken to each other and their child but it's still an issue.

vodkaredbullgirl · 19/03/2020 20:43

Covid 19 or not, no can't afford it.

Duchessofblandings · 19/03/2020 20:51

Everyone ordering takeaways, if you have a vulnerable person in the house please, please ask the delivery driver to leave it on the doorstep, decant it on to plates wearing rubber gloves and chuck the containers straight into an outside bin. Then wash the rubber gloves with soap and water.
The virus can live on hard surfaces and you can’t be sure that whoever prepares it was wearing gloves or didn’t cough while they packed it.
No doubt sounds extreme but it can survive for 72 hours. A droplet in your mouth, nose or eyes is all it takes.

IkeaSlave · 19/03/2020 20:52

We're getting it delivered instead. Restaurant still gets £, we keep our relatives a bit safer

Bluntness100 · 19/03/2020 21:07

I’d also comment on take aways the who are saying it is possible you can catch it from food if the person who cooked it didn’t wear gloves or coughed or sneezed on it or near it.

wantingahome · 19/03/2020 21:21

No I'm not! My friend advised she was earlier and I'm not very happy with her
