I won't but a lot of people are saying they are and it's still open so they are going etc.

According to my Facebook feed dr hilary has said it's fine to go to quiet pubs/restaurants. So I imagine a lot of people will.

Well yes, WiseUpJanet, it does.

@SimplySteveRedux yet it’s ok for my kids to go to school (2 buses to drop off and come back and again to pick up), and my oh to go to work (2 buses and 2 trains there and back). You either isolate or you don’t. The majority of people are going about their daily lives, which is why every person on this thread has said their local public buildings are still packed. A lot of hypocrites on this post and on Mumsnet in general, everyone pretending that they’re not leaving the house because that makes them stupid and selfish, complete bollocks

Why not? Just as likely to catch it or spread it in the absolutely packed supermarkets or at work or on the bus to work. We haven’t ‘locked down’ like other countries have.

@Janaih I saw Dr fucking Hilary say that on TV this morning. Really irresponsible of ITV.

Are people really this dumb? The point is to limit incessant social gatherings! Going for groceries is not the same thing as the pub, one is an essential the other is not.

Idiots.

Would that be Dr. Hilary, that well known Virologist who advises the WHO?

No? Thought not.

Jeez!

Nope - all closed here except for takeaways/delivery.

Same should have happened in the UK to stop this sort of nonsense.

It's all well and good people saying it's selfish to go to pubs or restaurants. But why about the staff who work there? As we are not on lockdown they have not been told they have to close. Therefore without customers how will staff get paid? My dh is a chef and business has been quiet this week, people getting sent home early every shift. Im a SAHM so we rely on his wage. So those 'selfish stupid morons' as called on here are keeping food on the table so my son won't starve. We have no savings or family who could help financially, so please think about that as well before judging everyone.

Similarly I have two nail and eyebrow appointments booked, one Thursday 26th March, the second Thursday 9th April. I understand it may be that I can't go if we are on lockdown by then, but if we are not and I'm able to then I WILL be going and supporting my beautician who is self employed and will loose money by clients cancelling if they don't need to. If that makes me one of the above then so be it, I don't care. I'll carry on as normal until I'm told I can't. I rarely go out anyway (nursery twice a week which is now closed and my appointments once a fortnight), so no difference for me at all in terms of staying at home most of the time.

I'd booked afternoon tea for my mum, the cafe has confirmed I can pick it up as a takeaway and I'll treat her with it at home.

I went this afternoon. Pub still open. To be honest lm more at risk at work. We sat at a table and did the app order. I would love to be able to stay at home but am in community everyday anyway that won't change

@Duchessofblandings it tipped me over the edge. I emailed ITV. I never do anything like that but it was so irresponsible I couldn’t believe it. I’ve always hated the smug twat as well.

Namechanged.

I work in a Pizza restaurant (with a royal connection) they’re adamant they’ll remain open. Daily updates with little to no info. There’s NO support for vulnerable workers in regards to the 12 week self-isolation. They’re cutting hours left, right and bloody centre; some people are down to 2 shifts a week- yet they remain open. Competitors are closing, but guess what? We’re still open. It’s dead, aside from a few customers that continue to come in. I just don’t understand why they can’t just close temporarily and then use the new loan that they’ve been gifted by the government or the temporary relax of business rates to pay staff a minimum amount to live off in the mean time. Businesses like these being open encourages the foolish to attend, they think it’s acceptable to go to restaurants because of stubborn management that are refusing to listen to government advice!

Why would I want to.

We had our favourite fish and chip takeaway, last night. At home.

We are going to a local restaurant but they have only 5 tables and they are really far apart. I would be nearer to contact in the supermarket. I certainly wouldn't go to a pub

Connie

I’ve lost count of the number of e-mails I’ve sent this last week 😁 like you, have never done so before. There’s so much irresponsible rubbish being allowed to be peddled unchallenged on TV and radio. Usually in ridiculous VoxPops - is their brief to find idiots? - but for a celebrity, part-time GP to peddle it is unbelievable.

I’ve managed to get a Sainsburys delivery for Sunday and therefore hopefully won’t need to leave the house (let’s see what actually gets delivered).

I haven’t got a temperature but I’ve got a burning chest and I cough when I breathe deeply so better safe than sorry.

Of course, I’m very lucky that my job is safe for the moment and I was already working from home one day a week so I was all set up to not need to go out at all. If I had to go out anyway to work, I might see things differently.
