Totally out of his fucking depth

not even a repetition of measures that people currently need to follow.

Which press conference was that? The one I watched strongly reiterated those measures and the absolute necessity of following them.

Bluewavescrashing · 19/03/2020 18:43

So teachers are not keyworkers?

Hercwasonaroll · 19/03/2020 18:44

AFAIK there aren't millions of tests yet. So they are limiting testing until the capacity to test is increased.

Every decision he makes is met with unintended consequences too. Lockdown sees an increase in obesity and MH problems (which will be a problem further down the line). Social distancing means businesses close. A ruined economy will kill more people than covid19

Bluntness100 · 19/03/2020 18:45

I think he’s doing well and handling it well. I’m really not sure what some folk expect. I suspect though this is just political sour grapes.

mypoorfurbaby · 19/03/2020 18:45

What do people want?
I mean this is unprecedented territory!

borntobequiet · 19/03/2020 18:47

The list of key workers absolutely needs to be spelled out repeatedly at every press conference and official interview so we all know for certain. Appalling communication from this joke of a Government. And it’s completely immaterial if Labour or a government of crazed zombies would have done worse. They’re not in power.

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 19/03/2020 18:47

@Keepcalmanddoyourbit laughing face emojis and personal digs. You just look more juvenile with every update. Talk about out of your depth, at least debate the issues.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 19/03/2020 18:47

He’s doing his best but it’s a huge “unknown” and this is not the job he wanted, is it?

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 19/03/2020 18:48

I don't agree with all the BoJo bashing. No one would want to be in his shoes right now. No one knows what to do. He agreed to daily updates but he won't always have something new to say.

Oakmaiden · 19/03/2020 18:51

Alternatively it is overwhelmingly the case that he is telling the truth, not because he is an honest man, but because he is accountable, and he will be pulled up on it if he is talking crap

History doesn't seem to bear you out there.

EffervescentElephant · 19/03/2020 18:51

I cannot believe how people can justify this show of incompetence from Mr Johnson and his government. What do they have to do for you to stop supporting them, send your family to death?

Oh wait they are....

Neveranynamesleft · 19/03/2020 18:51

I couldnt give a flying fig if the bumbling idiot is exhausted, he wont get any sympathy from me. Whether you like him / voted for him or not, the way he presented the ' update ' today was totally embarrassing to say the least. However, all is not lost as he's going to find a cure and save us all in 12 weeks . If the rest of the world isn't busy laughing at the UK they must be shaking their heads in puzzlement.

LittleRootie · 19/03/2020 18:51

Yes he has advisors but he has to meet them all etc.

What is 'etc'?

Yes, he has a lot of meetings, that is what leading requires. It requires you to stay focused, use your intelligence, communicate accurately and clearly.

Johnson is not up to it. He has lived a totally selfish, indulgent life and now he hasn't got a clue how to operate in these circumstances.

Redbonnie · 19/03/2020 18:52

The whole country is hanging on his every word ...for their livelihoods and literally their lives. Don’t bloody smirk would be a start. He looked weak and he made me feel scared.

Hercwasonaroll · 19/03/2020 18:53

He meets his advisors, makes decisions, writes speeches (or has them written for him). I'm sure there is far more to his role than this, I just don't know it.

He is getting a hard time when he has very little to say. Some decisions can't be rushed too much.

CaveMum · 19/03/2020 18:55

LIST OF KEY WORKERS HERE (as per email our school circulated this afternoon). If our school have it then all the other will do too.

With every press conference he gets worse
Dongdingdong · 19/03/2020 18:55

Every decision he makes is met with unintended consequences too. Lockdown sees an increase in obesity and MH problems (which will be a problem further down the line). Social distancing means businesses close. A ruined economy will kill more people than covid19

Precisely - any action he takes will have positives and negatives. Talk about rock and a hard place.

I think he's doing the best he can in what is a very difficult situation. He's surrounded himself by experts, which is the right thing to do.

It was good to hear that a British patient is now taking part in a cure trial too - I will be interested to hear the results.

LittleYorkshireLass · 19/03/2020 18:57

@Keepcalmanddoyourbit

BORING! Change the record FFS!

Whatever Bozza is doing it coulda been worse. We could have had that clown CORBYN in charge. SHUDDER! Shock

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 19/03/2020 18:58

For goodness' sake, he is doing the best he can in this situation. He is not smirking, but defers to his experienced scientific advisors. What can he do - he is faced with the worst crisis since Winston Churchill. Thank God we have him rather than Corbyn and Abbott!

LittleRootie · 19/03/2020 18:58

That list says keyworkers include..so it is not a definitive list which people need.

Roselilly36 · 19/03/2020 19:00

Boris seemed very keen to end the routine of Downing St conferences, I wonder why? Getting out of London? Off to Checkers perhaps?

Keepcalmanddoyourbit · 19/03/2020 19:01

@DamnYouAutoCarrot Why thank you very much

OP posts:
Keepcalmanddoyourbit · 19/03/2020 19:02

@LittleYorkshireLass Calm down

OP posts:
borntobequiet · 19/03/2020 19:03

Did someone use the words “ Boris Johnson” and “accountable” in the same sentence? How quaint, or perhaps deluded.

Keepcalmanddoyourbit · 19/03/2020 19:04

@Bluewavescrashing Yes they are. It's going to be odd that teacher's kids will need to go into their schools while they go into other schools to look after other kids. Bit of a head fuck really
