Totally out of his fucking depth

OP posts:
TonytheDog · 19/03/2020 21:42

LottleYorkshireLass you must be secure financially and living on an isolated private island? This isn't political. This virus is and will kill people. Boris is doing a bloody shit job. If you had the world's cameras on you and you were the PM in the midst of a pandemic would you sit there mumbling and smirking?
Has Boris got his message over to you? Are you socially isolating and not stockpiling?

TabbyMumz · 19/03/2020 21:46

"can't be bothered to find out the difference between a blood test and a urine test"
Eh? He clearly did know the difference. He stated the difference. Honestly some people on here, if they want to find bad, they will. He is an absolutely brilliant speaker.

TonytheDog · 19/03/2020 21:47

TabbyMumz I'm assuming you've never seen an 'absolutely brilliant speaker' to compare him to?

Iggly · 19/03/2020 21:53

I think, deep down, it scares people to think that our Prime Minister doesn’t really have much confidence in what he’s doing.

So they get all defensive and starting going on about Jeremy corbyn and how at least it isn’t him.

I just want people to take responsibility for the fact that they voted this clown in to office.

The80sweregreat · 19/03/2020 21:53

Corbyn wouldn't have been much better either and I voted for him!
The last pandemic was in 1918. They have learnt so much since then.
Anyone would struggle but Boris just seems out of his depth today and he needs to stop the pubs being open and people not doing the right things! It's hard I know but people will die all because they wanted a pint!
People are selfish.

day1intheisolationhouse · 19/03/2020 21:55

He’s a mouthpiece ,not a doctor or scientist and anyone would be out of their depth in this clusterfuck

No, he's meant to rise to the challenge of being a leader. A good leader would bring together the information from doctors, scientists and other experts, understand it in detail and inspire us all to come together to act. It's called having people skills, leadership skills, compassion and humanity. None of which describe Boris Johnson.

Justanotherlurker · 19/03/2020 21:56

@TonytheDog

You missed out the wider point of her argument and went for the cheap shot.

You haven't come across well in that point scoring exercise. Apply some that critical thinking and not causing division rhetoric.

day1intheisolationhouse · 19/03/2020 21:56

He is an absolutely brilliant speaker

PSML. I just spat out my tea.

Fuck me, we're scraping the barrel tonight.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 19/03/2020 21:56

It's not just him: our ht in Wales heard from the Welsh gov that we were all closing when a member of staff saw a tweet that went straight out to the public before anyone in schools was told.

DioneTheDiabolist · 19/03/2020 22:01

He is an absolutely brilliant speaker.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

That's the funniest thing I've read all day. Thanks TabbyMumz.😂😂😂Flowers

LittleRootie · 19/03/2020 22:02

He clearly did know the difference. He stated the difference

He said errm arr it's like a pregnancy test except using blood.

So it's not like a pregnancy test then. Hmm

StormzyinaTCup · 19/03/2020 22:04

So let's hear it - exactly how would Corbyn have been worse?

He'd be a PM in self-isolation for a start, a fat lot of good that would be!

Oakmaiden · 19/03/2020 22:04

It's not just him: our ht in Wales heard from the Welsh gov that we were all closing when a member of staff saw a tweet that went straight out to the public before anyone in schools was told.

Of course they told the public first. They couldn't let ALL schools know first, because they would have had to let all LAs know too then, and there is no way the rumour wouldn't be all over Wales before the announcement was made.

Also - the decision would have been made in the COBRA meeting, they came out of the meeting and made the announcement immediately.

TonytheDog · 19/03/2020 22:06

Justanotherlurker if you're going to be critical of me being critical maybe try and make a valid point rather than using petty epithets.
#goingforthecheapshotwhatever

Oakmaiden · 19/03/2020 22:07

He said errm arr it's like a pregnancy test except using blood.

So it's not like a pregnancy test then. hmm

If it is effectively a stick on which you place a drop of blood and something about the stick changes to indicate the result - then, yes, it is similar enough to a pregnancy test.

Don't nit pick for the sake of it. There are valid arguments to be made about our PM - that isn't really one of them.

LittleRootie · 19/03/2020 22:12

Don't nit pick for the sake of it.

Yes, don't nit pick for the sake of it. A urine test is not a blood test, likening a test to a pregnancy test suggests that it will be a urine test as that is what everyone knows about those tests - you pee on a stick.

We vitally need clarifty of information and that's yet another example of where Johnson is incapable of providing it.

DioneTheDiabolist · 19/03/2020 22:20

If it is effectively a stick on which you place a drop of blood and something about the stick changes to indicate the result - then, yes, it is similar enough to a pregnancy test.
No it's not. It's similar to a Blood Sugar Level test. It is nothing like a Pregnancy test. The "pregnancy test" bit was just verbal diarrhoea. Bullshit padding said without thought. He does it a lot and it undermines his credibility as a leader.

friendlyflicka · 19/03/2020 22:24

think Boris Johnson is a feckless liar with empty ambition. He is now having to take on a role he didn't foresee.

But I think the main crucial mistake he has made is with his cabinet. He has a ship of fools who were solely appointed to agree with his decisions. And now we are in a position where we require expertise and experience and wisdom and compassion. And so we are leaning on the scientific advisors with no political acumen at all. Not what this cabinet was designed for.

friendlyflicka · 19/03/2020 22:26

I don't mean the scientists have no political acumen. I mean that there is no political decision making to interpret their knowledge and guide the nation. Unfair on the experts and incredibly unfair on the nation.

friendlyflicka · 19/03/2020 22:31

And I didn't think that question to the journalists was a result of boredom. I thought it was total insecurity and wanting people to big him up and like him again. The smile he gave to a Telegraph colleague was total matey relief.

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 19/03/2020 22:31

@TonytheDog you actually changed my perspective on this. I thought Boris gave me some confidence and that I got 'the plan'. However, I haven't been fully acting on the advice, no. So he hasnt got the message across to me.

@littleRootie I think you're minimising the amount of new information being thrown at this man. He obviously isn't the best speaker, the man hardly even brushes his hair for goodness sake! It's close enough IMHO.

alloutoffucks · 19/03/2020 22:47

People are panic buying, how the PM communicates to people is crucial. It is his job to do this. He is failing.

Jurgen Klopp has free time on his hands. He leads a team of experts whilst being in control and accountable. If Boris is just a mouthpiece then can we swap and have a better one?

LittleRootie · 19/03/2020 23:02

I think you're minimising the amount of new information being thrown at this man

And I think people are minimising how useless he really is. He is in the executive position in government. He is expected, as a minimum, to be able to deal with a lot of 'new information' being thrown at him.

If this crisis hadn't arisen we would be in the throes of Brexit and he would have to take on a huge amount of information regarding detailed negotiations. But he can't. Because he is too lazy and unfocused to take information in. He has relied on Cummings and others to bail him out or being able to joke his way out of awkward situations, but now he's completely exposed.

People all over the country are failing to follow advice, behaving selfishly and recklessly, putting everyone in jeopardy because of a failure of leadership and that can not be minimised.
