Anyone else bombarded by people saying we are going full lockdown at the weekend?
I can't work out if fake news or not!

OP posts:

Kraejka - I agree. It's needed.

The army was called in Maidstone during a near recent snow storm (circa 2004/5? My Ds was at preschool) - they weren't scary they were assisting.

They fill in when emergency services can't.

Sky news is reporting London will go into lockdown this weekend.

I think this is now beyond a rumour...

Anyone know what would happen for small businesses that need to tie up loose ends before a lockdown? We run a food shop and have food stored in fridges that would go off and become a health hazard. I'm assuming (hoping!) we'd be allowed to go and clear them out then return home?

Tonyaster · 18/03/2020 23:22

highghost hear bloody hear

PlomBear · 18/03/2020 23:22

They won’t be deployed on the streets. It’ll be logistics, driving trucks etc

OldLace · 18/03/2020 23:26

I have a 70 yr old friend planning to travel from London to Scotland.
Leaving London tomorrow, returning on Tues.
What the heck happens if they go, and cant get back?

My kids are visiting their Dad (50m away).
From my house to his, no other social interaction.
what if they cant get back?

turdtimelucky · 18/03/2020 23:26

This is going to be absolute shit.

turdtimelucky · 18/03/2020 23:27

TFL announced reduction to services just now.

MintySpud · 18/03/2020 23:28

These sorts of threads are inane at best.

DDayDoris · 18/03/2020 23:29

soloula - I don't know, but I know my BIL runs a business and has had to let 5 employees go today Sad He's heartbroken -they were friends. But he has no choice. All his events have been cancelled. I just hope the govt will step in for them - and his insurance pays out, because otherwise this will be a disaster for so many people. He's a broken man.

MrsTommyShelby · 18/03/2020 23:30

I'm meant to be moving house next week. Rented accommodation. Tenancy to end at current home. No idea what I'm going to do.

They shouldn't go.

Oakmaiden · 18/03/2020 23:31

I'm still a bit agog that people really think the army are going to use TANKS to enforce a curfew....

How would that even work?

EezyOozy · 18/03/2020 23:31

What are the chances of other cities locking down a few days after London ? I’m in North East city centre x

DDayDoris · 18/03/2020 23:31

OldLace, your 70 yr old friend clearly should not go.

Tonyaster · 18/03/2020 23:31

MintySpud London will be in lockdown by the end of next week at the latest.

LaCherriesJubilee · 18/03/2020 23:35

So I suppose we can expect a fresh assault on the supermarkets when this gets out...

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 18/03/2020 23:36

Having lived in several London Boroughs bordering other counties, and still live in one now, I feel sorry for everyone who is going to have to listen to all the cries of we don't live in London, we live in Kent\Middlesex/Berkshire/Essex/etc

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 18/03/2020 23:36

Moving in isn't an option. I know it's pretty unimportant right now in the grand scheme of things but it just adds to the knot in my stomach. Not great when I have anxiety and chronic panic

I know how you feel. Mine is 200 miles away and for lots of reasons we can't be together until end of next week. I'm terrified I'm not going to see him for months. He's so anxious too.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 18/03/2020 23:37

Not sure why I went Berkshire rather than Surrey there. I've lost the plot listening to these things already 😂

JamesBlonde1 · 18/03/2020 23:40

SIL is manager of a pharmacy. She's been warned lockdown coming.

Local barracks showing very heavy presence and to be deployed at local hospital. Reserves have been asked to assist.

All first hand information. North- East England.

Maryann1975 · 18/03/2020 23:41

Exactly what @highghost said.
DH was in the military when we first met. I never felt scared walking past the gate guards, they were there to protect me. They didn’t want to shoot me, only the baddies! So behave and you will be fine!

AngelicaKauffman · 18/03/2020 23:42

I have 7 friends

AngelicaKauffman · 18/03/2020 23:43

.... lol. Posted too soon Grin Maybe I should just leave it at that though! 🤣🤣🤣
