Anyone else bombarded by people saying we are going full lockdown at the weekend?
I can't work out if fake news or not!

@Nanslayer

We have military on the streets here no reports of anything other than them keeping peace law and order. Unfortunately for them they don't have the luxury of being able to stay at home and hopefully away from the virus. They are doing a good job

alloutoffucks · 19/03/2020 00:36

They don't just say lock down is happening in 10 minutes. They give you some warning. So say at 6 pm, lock down from midnight tonight. This is to give people time to do things like collect kids and travel home.

And no fracture clinics won't be closed. I just meant that if they are short on staff they may delay taking off a cast for a little bit longer. But they might not.

NicketyNacketyNooNoo · 19/03/2020 00:38

A lock down is inevitable tbh. Whether it’s this week or next it’s coming. As for the Army presence, I passed them earlier just outside Glasgow and they seemed to be doing a damn fine job of setting things up.

Each one of the Army personnel has families somewhere worrying about them as they will be worrying about their families. @NanSlayer sort yourself out for goodness sake 🙄.

TheHoundOfWinchester · 19/03/2020 00:38

I'm a care worker who doesn't drive, I work in a care home 10miles away from home and my husband drives me. Will thus be allowed under lock down rules as obviously I still need to work!

sensol · 19/03/2020 00:38

@alloutoffucks

Yes we were given around 7 hours notice here

sensol · 19/03/2020 00:40

@TheHoundOfWinchester

Only speaking from my experience here but yes that would be allowed your job is considered front line. Stay safe

TheHoundOfWinchester · 19/03/2020 00:42

@sensol thank you!

Saladmakesmesad · 19/03/2020 00:45

Thank you. We’d actually already decided that DH and kids won’t come into the hospital with me no matter what to minimise contagion risk all round so I hope they’ll be allowed to drop me. Taxi would be ££ as it’s a half hour drive and I also feel like that increases the social contact.

Upherefordancing · 19/03/2020 00:48

My DS16 arrived home an hour ago saying the police and army were amassing at our local sports ground...😱

UYScuti · 19/03/2020 00:49

Are you sure it wasn't just a five aside football game?

Saladmakesmesad · 19/03/2020 00:50

If my appointment is delayed I think I’ll have to cut the cast off myself as it’s starting to rub my skin and I don’t want sores or an infection. Or a blood clot from extended immobilisation. But obviously I don’t want a fucked up ankle for life! (I realise this is nothing compared to what people are suffering globally of course.)

alloutoffucks · 19/03/2020 00:55

It might not be. It might go ahead fine.

JustAnotherMumTho · 19/03/2020 00:56

@Sweatheart
Thats reassuring to know, thankyou!

DennisReynoldsDuster · 19/03/2020 01:08

Does anyone know what happens to deliveries in a lockdown? I have some items already shipped that I need for DS but they’ll be arriving after the weekend. If we went into lockdown before then would they still be delivered to me?
I also have garden furniture arriving and case of wine but I’m much less concerned about those (one ordered prior to all this and the second on a monthly subscription)

DennisReynoldsDuster · 19/03/2020 01:09

That last bit was a joke by the way! I’m obviously not worrying about garden furniture considering everything that’s going on...

Isla727 · 19/03/2020 01:09

I hope so!

Isla727 · 19/03/2020 01:10

** That we go into lockdown, not that it's fake news!

sensol · 19/03/2020 01:11

@DennisReynoldsDuster
Delivery's do seem to have carried on here so far !

SpokeTooSoon · 19/03/2020 01:13

It’s the army. Not the military. Military is an adjective. Army is the noun.

In times like we are facing who cares? Pedants corner is >>> THAT way.

Inkpaperstars · 19/03/2020 01:16

I just don't understand why they haven't already closed bars, cafes, cinemas, non essential shops etc. It is going to happen and a day or two of income for them will not make much difference, even if it did lives are at stake. It just seems that those places, along with social organised groups, extra curricular activities etc, are a luxury right now and the easy bit for the govt to close. They could have done that ages ago in cities at least as a staging post on the way to lockdown.

I think all the rumours about when lockdown will be just reflect the fact that we know it will happen in some form or other. I thought it made sense for London to be first but having read what a pp said about people travelling out across the country it might be best to do it all at once.

I hope we will be allowed, within reason, to get food under controlled conditions, to medical appointments, to deliver vulnerable friends and relatives and leave food outside their door if need be, and it would be really good if we could walk out for a few mins with distancing.
I could handle that.
