Do you think the Queen should address the nation?

Just that really.

I wonder if it would help people 'pull together'. Whether you are a Royalist or not I think it might help allay some fears.

Of course, I am aware that the Queen is probably worrying about herself and her DH etc.

I would totally be reassured if the queen spoke to me from the comfort of her massive castle, surrounded by soldiers and piled high with food.

UYScuti · 20/03/2020 22:42

she'd pour boiling oil more like

Cohle · 20/03/2020 22:47

Yes the Queen is very privileged, but she is also very elderly, and is in a position to address some of fears of that age group and speak to them as a peer in a way no politician really can.

Some of the younger royals could volunteer with the NHS. Or Will and Kate could relate their work about mental health and children to the current circumstances.

It's a national emergency, if the Royals don't have a role to play now then when do they?

eddiemairswife · 20/03/2020 22:51

Kate and William were washing their hands in the Daily Mail. I bet they won't have to wipe their bottoms on the Daily Mail.

TheMemoryLingers · 20/03/2020 23:08

At last - a reason to start buying The Sun!

JemimaTab · 20/03/2020 23:53

Imagine the likes of William and Kate volunteering with the NHS - with their (non-existent) work ethic! It would be like Georgian monarchs swanning about with pot-pourri hanging from their necks to ward off the distasteful smell of the povs.

User721 · 21/03/2020 08:53

William should do something useful and go back to flying the air ambulances.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 21/03/2020 08:57

Pointless and insulting platitudes aren’t going to endear and of them to me, least of all MeandH attention seeking Instagram posts🤬😡

JemimaTab · 21/03/2020 09:10

I thought William wasn’t actually qualified to fly by himself (just co-pilot). Either way, he could make himself more useful by going back to whatever his air ambulance job was than patronising the peasants on some hospital visit (where he’d only get under their feet).

MarshaBradyo · 21/03/2020 09:11

And cough CV on them if he has it

viques · 21/03/2020 10:24

I saw the pictures in the DM of Will and Kate visiting a call centre (don't worry, I bleached my eyeballs afterwards) I thought the call centre looked remarkably empty, lots of empty work stations in the background, I got the distinct impression that the workers had been herded into a back room while their royal fragrances wafted through on a cloud of posh disinfectant.

[ Kate was wearing an M and S suit apparently, which I think is Royal Speak for bin after one wear]

Harry and Meghan have suggested that we all train as counsellors while self-isolating.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 21/03/2020 10:32

H & M can go fck themselves. Why dont THEY do something helpful instead of lecturing the people who are crying in despair that they wont be able to afford their rent, mortgages or food.

TheMemoryLingers · 21/03/2020 10:35

Such helpful advice from Planet Privilege!

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/03/2020 10:39

Ha ha! The queen has no relevance at all in my life. None, Jack shit.

I’m really going to listen to her in splendid isolation in one of her castles.😁. If she wants to help she could contribute most her family’s wealth. That would buy a few ventilators.😡

The royals are a waste of space and time( deliberate use of lower case r for royals as they are so irrelevant.)

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/03/2020 10:40

Older people? I’m 56, the Sex Pistols summed it up for me.

Older people! Ha ha!

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 21/03/2020 10:46

‘The Queen and Charles need to do something’

How about turning over all their millions of country piles into hospitals? Or giving money for people who have lost their jobs?

There a 1000 things they could do. But they just sit in their houses doing fuck all for a struggling nation.

Down with the Crown. I wish we lived in a republic, and this disease has highlighted their uselessness. Vivre La Repulique!

UYScuti · 21/03/2020 11:01

Yup you said it it is now obvious that they are completely irrelevant, they have no role, no place in modern society

TheMemoryLingers · 21/03/2020 11:05

George VI and the late Queen Elizabeth QM at least had the guts to stay in London during the blitz, which did a lot for morale at the time.

viques · 22/03/2020 16:11

The Cambridges are thinking of us.

I feel better.

Are they in their 20 room apartment in KenPal or enjoying the fresh air of Norfolk? See Kate and Wills, thinking of you two too. Feeling better?

TheMemoryLingers · 22/03/2020 16:13

That message just about summed it up. Thinking about the poor plebs from their lofty island of privilege. Gee, thanks for that.

Don't 'think about us' - do something - like lobbying Dad and Granny to offer some of their vast houses as hospital/convalescent accommodation.
