After being a customer for over 40 years I'm done with them. They messed up my Christmas order and now I can't even book an online slot for ever. I realise they are extra busy but I have an online order every week and even after staying up until after midnight hoping to get a slot for 3 weeks time there is still nothing. My dh and are both self isolating due to health reasons, we live in a rural village with limited bus services and no near family. Stuff you sainsburys.

Well go somewhere else like everyone else has too

DannyNedelko · 18/03/2020 00:28

What do you want them to do?

theemmadilemma · 18/03/2020 00:29

Everyone and their dog is trying online shopping now. Unfortunately you don't get first choice for using the service previously.

OccasionalNachos · 18/03/2020 00:29

I don’t think longevity as a customer is going to help with online delivery slots, but I understand your frustration. Presuming you don’t drive/have access to a car. Any other supermarkets that will deliver?

ToLiveInPeace · 18/03/2020 00:29

There's massive demand at present. I expect you'll have same problem with all the supermarkets. Sorry :/

emojisarentwords · 18/03/2020 00:30

Don't blame you OP struggling with similar

IWantT0BreakFree · 18/03/2020 00:32

Do you want them to reserve you a slot every week on the offchance that you may need it? How would they know what day/time to reserve? Genuine questions. In times of extreme demand (and bearing in mind that the current situation is unprecedented), what would you like them to do?

PaulAnkaDog · 18/03/2020 00:33

Seriously?

Originalyellowbelly · 18/03/2020 00:35

I cant believe all slots are booked in advance when they only become available at midnight and I tried at one minute past. No car, one bus a week and one small village shop and other shops not taking on new customers. It just seems no one values their customers any more.

OP posts:
Originalyellowbelly · 18/03/2020 00:39

I don't expect them to reserve a slot every week, no, but to not have any over a 3 week period at all is ridiculous, especially when you try as soon as they supposedly become available at midnight

I agree it’s annoying. I pay for a delivery subscription with them and hope they will at least give customers some free delivery months because at the moment I’m paying for a service I can’t use.

SallyLovesCheese · 18/03/2020 00:42

It's not they don't value you as a customer, they're just really busy right now due to everyone wanting online shopping. Confused

Daffodil101 · 18/03/2020 00:45

Has it occurred to you that the supermarkets are in cahoots with the government right now and that delivery slots have been requisitioned (like private hospital beds) as part of the ‘war effort’ to deliver to central points of distribution?

From these central points, the groceries can then be delivered to isolating elderly people in a co-ordinated community effort.

I’m also a long-standing customer and I can’t get the slots I’ve paid for with my delivery pass, however the cause of this is clear to me.

AmelieTaylor · 18/03/2020 00:46

It’s stresssful when you’re self isolating for health reasons, so it makes you short tempered with life’s problems.

I have a pass with Tesco so had an order in with them, but the system was completely overloaded and in melt down & wouldn’t let me (re) check out, so I lost my slot. I was annoyed it hadn’t just stayed ‘checked out’ with my original order.

I have placed an order for the next few weeks

My friend was telling me I was stupid as I wouldn’t get everything as the shops pretty much ‘sold out’ now. Despite me telling him it was mainly fresh food ((no loo roll 🤣) & that I had ticked to your allow substitutes on almost everything he still thought I was mad

I’m failing to see what’s Mad about placing several advanced orders, where food will arrive - whether it’s exactly what I want or not rather than having to go into a supermarket with lots of others only to be faced with the same choices as the ‘picker’ would have 🤷🏻‍♀️

And despite pointing out the logic that the supermarket is being continually re stocked anyway 🙄

..I couldn’t resist reminding him that I’d suggested, more then once over the past few weeks, that he should start to get a few extra bits in when shopping and he just laughed at me and called me panicky pants - thst I wasn’t the one getting pissed off because the single shop I was prepared to go in today didn’t have bread mix, toilet paper or baked beans🙄🙄🙄

LizB62A · 18/03/2020 00:49

My son signed in to add teabags to his Ocado order and got put in a queue.

He was number 5735 in the queue.

These are unusual times

Those poor delivery drivers are back to back with orders. Yes it's a bit shit that there is not slots available but they put themselves at risk with everything going on.
Appreciate them a little more instead of moaning. We're all in this together and they are helping keep the community up and running.

TheStudyOfLife · 18/03/2020 00:52

There are no slots, because all the slots have been taken. Not because Sainsbury's can't be bothered.

Not sure what you genuinely expect them to do- roll out a red carpet for 'premium' customers?!

planningaheadtoday · 18/03/2020 00:53

Every slot on our local Sainsbury's went in the first 10 seconds after midnight. I watched with disbelief. It's worse than the three weeks before Christmas when the slots get released.

Today Asda site completely crashed with the volume of shoppers trying to pay for online delivery.

It's madness.

TreacherousPissFlap · 18/03/2020 01:00

You can add Tesco to that. Admittedly I've never been a fan so can't claim long-standing loyalty.
Rocked up tonight after a late shift (emergency services) to find they've taken the decision to close from 2200hrs until 0600hrs from tonight
At least my shifts over, while I was there 2 ambulances were parked up with the paramedics discussing where else they could get something to eat. We live fairly rurally so don't have a million other options.

Originalyellowbelly · 18/03/2020 01:11

I'm not moaning about the delivery drivers or the shop assistants, even though I haven't actually been in a shop for months, I know what a difficult time it is for them but when you are a pensioner with illnesses and limited options for getting shopping it's very frustrating when your options are stumped.

Thanks for posting this. You know its not personal right?
I just booked a Tesco slot for the 8th April.

BlackForestCake · 18/03/2020 01:21

It's perfectly simple, we just need to add an extra six hours to each day, then there will be enough slots.

Doyoumind · 18/03/2020 01:27

There is no food on the shelves in the shops. Even those who get a slot will find most of their order does not arrive. Can you not find someone who can help you?

CyberNan · 18/03/2020 01:35

you anticipate loyalty from sainsbury's…?

ive given up hoping for loyalty from my entire family, I would be absolutely amazed if a shop showed any loyalty..

does loyalty still exist...?

HarrietTheShy · 18/03/2020 01:50

YANBU. I gave up on Sainsbury's a few months ago because at least 25% of each order was always out of stock. I can't even imagine what they must be like now.
