Live in London- must be 7 supermarkets within a 10 minute drive of me, I went to 3 today- no meat, no veg, no fruit, no bread- on top of no cleaning products.
What exactly are we supposed to do? I haven’t seen a restocked supermarket in weeks.
FYI I consider all preppers scum!

If your supermarket has stock, Where are you? What time are you turning up to shop?

It’s not preppers though it’s panic buyers, preppers have been ready for months

Squiffy01 · 17/03/2020 18:39

I’m SE London. No bread, eggs, flours anywhere. After mid morning.
But fresh stuff seems to be unchanged where I am, the odd thing out but loads of fruit and veg and meats.

My husband went at opening this morning to get our size nappies though.

BurnIt · 17/03/2020 18:40

You mean panic buyers... I'm prepped and have had to shop.

Blewbell · 17/03/2020 18:40

It's not panic buyers. They are about to tell all over 70s to be in for months. Loads of people are now self isolating for two weeks. People are largely just getting what they need for weeks or months.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 17/03/2020 18:40

Don’t blame the preppers. It’s not them.

BarbedBloom · 17/03/2020 18:41

Same here, butchers are out of meat too. Can't get lentils, pasta, chickpeas, black beans...nothing. Local supermarkets and corner shops out of milk alternatives and eggs. Am really starting to worry

BurnIt · 17/03/2020 18:41

Have NOT had to shop... Sorry stupid phone!

CarlottaValdez · 17/03/2020 18:41

There was a reasonable amount of meat and loads of veg at the Sainsbury’s in my outer London borough. No loo paper or tins or flour.

rumred · 17/03/2020 18:42

Local shops are worth a visit

MonsterMood · 17/03/2020 18:42

Preppers were organised and planned for Brexit times like this.

Panic buyers are the culprits.

Igotthemheavyboobs · 17/03/2020 18:42

I'm not a prepper at all but must point out it is panic buyers that are the problem.

Shops by me are pretty much fully stocked with the exception of loo roll and pasta, based in Bedforshire and went to the shops today around 14:0.

Sillyscrabblegames · 17/03/2020 18:42

You need to go early morn to get the restock overnight

Solasum · 17/03/2020 18:43

My local Tesco (zone 1) had almost everything at 8.30 this morning

Crackerofdoom · 17/03/2020 18:44

It is really frustrating. But when it is so uncertain what the next weeks will bring it is hardly surprising. Older people are waiting to be told they have to stay home for weeks, families where the whole family would normally be out for lunchtime will now all be at home for all meals.

At times like this, it would take exceptional leadership to avoid this sort of environment of fear and confusion. And I don't think many countries can claim to have that right now

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 17/03/2020 18:45

Call it what you like, if everyone shopped as normal there would be no shortage. All the people saying “oh I’m only buying a bit extra”= yes that’s the problem!
Spoke to my colleagues in China today they are utterly bemused by our self inflicted shortages!

Fine I’ll drive round 6 shops to buy 4 items but when I see the elderly and the disabled shopping the empty shelves too I’m utterly enraged!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 17/03/2020 18:46

Maybe the government need to make it clear then- even on a lock down there is access to
Supermarkets

Loppy10 · 17/03/2020 18:46

If only you'd prepped months ago, you wouldn't have to be panicking now...

IndecentFeminist · 17/03/2020 18:47

I bought a bit extra 6 months plus ago, that's having no impact on you now. Prepping and panicking are different.

However, semantics aside I wouldn't describe most people as scum. Just nervous people.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 17/03/2020 18:49

So to all preppers are you still shopping?

OP posts:
Shockers · 17/03/2020 18:49

I went to the farm shop for meat, eggs and veg, and the health food shop for pulses. Nobody else appeared to have thought of that in our town- both were fully stocked and empty of shoppers.

Titsywoo · 17/03/2020 18:50

Local shops are much better at the moment. Got lots of fresh veg at a farm shop earlier.

GrumpyHoonMain · 17/03/2020 18:50

Go to north london or areas with large Indian / Middle Eastern populations as these places are still selling fresh fruit and veg and people aren’t panic buying to such a huge extent.

Mominatrix · 17/03/2020 18:51

Ummm, how does one prep months in advance for fresh fruit and veg Confused.

Scruffyoak · 17/03/2020 18:51

I'm a prepper and no need to go to shop now so no

bellinisurge · 17/03/2020 18:52

Panic buying is the opposite of prepping.
I'm sorry you are having a tricky time.
