True quartz but 30 is young!

Sarah510 · 18/03/2020 16:49

It seems high but it's because they are only counting deaths, not cases. Other countries are testing all with symptoms to see who has it and who doesn't. UK decided against this - only testing people who end up in hospital. Cant help thinking a LOT is going to come out after all this is over.

sadatchristmas1 · 18/03/2020 16:50

GCSEs and a levels aren't going ahead this summer in wales predicted grades are likely to be given

SistemaAddict · 18/03/2020 16:51

Have you got a link for that re the exams please?

Skittlesss · 18/03/2020 16:52

Hospital ships being deployed in the US.

Wonder if they’ll use princess/royal Caribbean/costa etc

Reminds me of the prison ships you read about

anothernamereally · 18/03/2020 16:54

I'm feeling really nervous for the update and can't put my finger on why

Lynamic · 18/03/2020 16:55

Bercows I'm on only universal credit and child maintenace. It's always a struggle with food but lately being unable to order ahead and now stores running out and no deliveries is scary. I wish I had a garden and I'd start growing. I think you should tell your ex what's happening and ask for help

Angryrant55 · 18/03/2020 16:56

Predicted grades will be very controversial.

Skittlesss · 18/03/2020 16:56

Anothername, me too :(

Horehound · 18/03/2020 16:57

What happens in a lockdown? Can airports stay open? I have a relative in Cambodia right now not due back until 29th Confused

MarshaBradyo · 18/03/2020 16:58

I really feel for students and predicted grades

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 18/03/2020 16:58

We've dug out the sprouting potatoes to chuck in a plant pot. Worst case we've lost three potatoes, best case we can have some grow :)

I'm on UC too, though do also get PIP. I get £0 maintenance from DCs dad - he had no job for ages then started work and was off a week later with CV. I'm half tempted to think he got ill on purpose so he doesn't have to pay me!

MangePasTesOnglesVilain · 18/03/2020 16:59

Angry it may be the best solution to an impossible problem in an unprecedented situation. You can't sit lots of kids in an exam hall in a pandemic. Some kids will be bereaved, many will be ill, many will be in terribly unstable home situations with poor tech access.

CrunchyCarrot · 18/03/2020 16:59

Does anyone know how that compares with other countries for a similar amount of cases?

We're still on a par with Italy. Someone posted this list a couple of threads back, you'll have to fill in the intervening numbers for the UK but if we are at 104 deaths that's almost the same as Italy at 107. I've edited in the current figures:

@BeyondMymymymyCorona oh I have some sprouted potatoes. Can I plant them in the garden now?

Justforthislifetime · 18/03/2020 17:01

New Total UK Deaths 104

Carlislemumof4 · 18/03/2020 17:03

Sky News Breaking - 'Sky News understands that schools in Northern Ireland will close to pupils immediately and to staff from Friday amid the COVID-19 out.'

Lynamic · 18/03/2020 17:03

I think you can wrap them in cotton wool and add water and whatever sustenance you can find

Number12 · 18/03/2020 17:04

OMG crunchycarrot that's tough to see! I just can't see boris actually doing anything of any magnitude to stop the spread.

waspfig · 18/03/2020 17:05

Stiiiiiiiil waiting for BoJo...

Oakmaiden · 18/03/2020 17:06

My chart mapping the UK from 6th March against Italy from 21st Feb. I make that 14 days.
