My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

i know that many will have the virus.so dont take this as belittling or telling anyone they dont.im NOT.
but i am also saying the tress and fear wont help/.haha what a stupid fuking thing to say i hear you ry as this is certainly fucking cary as hell.buuut if you can try as much as you can to keep as safe and restful and calm as you can this will help.as the tightness of chest, the doom feeling the anxiety and tiredness will also be part of the stress and fear and panic factor.so do all the other little techniques and calming exercises we've seen about too.
and know your not alone.
i know its really hard for everyone and its the unknown that makes it worse.
im so sorry for anyone suffering both with the virus and the fear ot it and all the what ifs and mental health shitfuck that comes with having to change your life and isolate.
sleep well if you can tonight.lots of people are thinking of you all.
and if you are scared.know you are NOT alone.and it doesnt make you lesser than for being so.it means your human and just want it all to be ok.
sleep tight all.do anything tht helps.
there have been some great youtube mindfullness videos put up.
classic fm tongiht have posted concerts the philharmonic are contining to put online so people dont feel alone.
lots of guided meditation videos people often dismuss and poo poo but really can help.

thanks @IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls well, you see, the sore throat feels almost totally better some days but this evening it is sore all over again which is just weird.

I don't drink enough as it is but yes when I drink enough I'm going to the loo every 3 hours or so and it's not dark or anything.

I've got pale fingernails but like I say, when I have red meat I feel ten times better as though it's iron I'm needing. As an example, at the weekend I was pretty exhausted but today I had mince for lunch and I felt full of energy about half an hour/hour later and was whizzing round the house tidying up as my letting agent are doing a routine inspection tomorrow.

Luckystar777 · 17/03/2020 01:26

You know what was weird that I've just remembered about, I did have high temp about 3 weeks ago but for literally about 3 minutes. I could not cool down at all and was splashing ice water all over myself, it was about midnight and I felt I needed to be sick along with it, went to the loo but then it felt actually .. (sorry, gross) it was coming down the way. And it did instead. After it was out :/ My temp went right back to normal but I was white as a sheet for a while after. I have no idea what that was all about but it hasn't happened again.

I don't go outdoors much at all currently and have been staying in more the last week or so.

lovemylot1 · 17/03/2020 01:48

I am joining this thread as have had a tight chest and very slight feeling of less breath than usual for 6 days. Was mild so I thought it was anxiety,

Then last night woke up very sweaty but then that went away.
Then tonight I feel terrible. Feel feverish and tingly all over but no high temp. Tummy feels dodgy but not actually been sick.
Heart pounding and generally feel rotten. Have just taken two paracetamol.
Feels terrible for about half an hour then it goes away then comes back.

I’m scared and trying not to see anything about serious cases etc

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 17/03/2020 01:49

@alloutoffucks , thats ok I totally agree re stats Smile

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 17/03/2020 01:50

@Luckystar777 i am glad you are weeing !

Yes i had 3 days free of sore throat but its back again this evening 🙄

Luckystar777 · 17/03/2020 02:27

Thanks @IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls me too :)

I'm sorry yours is back too, any idea on why this is happening? I felt for sure it was clearing just yesterday.

Mummyoflittledragon · 17/03/2020 03:15

I am sorry about the arsehole and hope you’re on the mend with the meds now. I hope his dick falls.

I have woken up with lungs, which feel like they’re on fire. Very slight cough, which started yesterday afternoon but worsening a little overnight. Until I woke up I thought this was a light cold. A few sneezes and feeling very lethargic over the weekend with a sore throat but feeling so much better yesterday (Monday) and even up to walking (I have ME/CFS so was a good day).

Now I’m just needing to drink sips of water all the time to quell the burning sensation in my chest. I also am still slowly recovering from surgery but need more surgery and get viral asthma if that’s the DP correct descriptive - as in I get it with coughs when I have a cold.

DJs colleague didn’t show up to work yesterday due to chest issues and suspected coronavirus. So now I’m wondering if I have it too. Fuck. Obviously it could just be a virus, just not the virus.

Mummyoflittledragon · 17/03/2020 03:17

DJs = Dh’s. Lol.

TheBewildernessisWeetabix · 17/03/2020 03:45

I do pursed lip breathing frequently because I have COPD and it helps keep me oxygenated.
I highly recommend it.

Orangeblossom78 · 17/03/2020 03:53

I've been having this too pain relief helped a bit

HavenDilemma · 17/03/2020 04:44

I think people need to remember that just because Coronavirus is going on, that all other conditions/viruses/infections still exist!
I currently have Tonsillitis and was panicking at first 🤦🏼‍♀️
Look at the NHS guidance on symptoms and what to do. If you have symptoms not listed then it is something else and you are to deal with as you would any other time

Orangeblossom78 · 17/03/2020 04:48

Also I guess it could be possible to have more than one thing going on such as secondary bacterial infections

Movinghouseatlast · 17/03/2020 04:51

Everyone on this thread should be isolating their entire household.

Last wek you were told to isolate with any flu like symptoms!!!!

Why the fuck are some of you going to work and taking your children to school?

TackyTriceratops · 17/03/2020 05:10

Just started reading this.

Sending best wishes to all of you for a speedy recovery. Thanks

The burning sounds exactly like what happens when I get a viral infection with asthma.

TackyTriceratops · 17/03/2020 05:23

Hot juice/ ribena. Glycerine, honey bugbear help. Or just sugar in warm water.

Lots of fluids.

Save paracetamol doses for sleeping; so night time and over a midday nap.

Sleep as upright as possible but watch your lower back, make sure something soft tucked into the curve of lower spine to support. I have to have a pillow under my knees too.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/03/2020 05:38

Last wek you were told to isolate with any flu like symptoms

No, we were told to isolate with a cough and / or a temp of 37.8 or higher. Those two specific things. Which we don't have.

@Sunshine1239, I work in Liverpool but live up the coast. I travel on packed, dirty, trains.

I had flu last year. The 'wrong' / 'weird' feeling I have is very similar to that. I'm nowhere near as ill as then though, thankfully.

Andcake · 17/03/2020 05:49

Ok so I have the lung pain thing but no temperature or cough. I spent most of the weekend in bed with awful sore throat and headache but rallied yesterday but wfh. I haven’t isolated as no temperature and no cough but wfh meant I popped to the shops. Now I’m worried that what I thought was a bad sore throat is CV.

I’ve woken up horribly early for me feeling a bit roped and worried about family getting ill.

doctorsornot · 17/03/2020 06:00

I have felt really tired for about 7 days. Intermittently I have felt slightly more breathless than usual with occasional aches. I have lung disease and mildly reduced lung function. Chest pain is fairly common with me.

Just woken up slightly sweaty and hot. I have no doubt it is both anxiety and my body fighting a virus of some sort.

I have been taking high strength vitamin C and high strength vitamin D every night. There is some evidence that vitamin D reduces the chance of respiratory infections. I am resting as much as possible and not exerting myself too much. It is also important to get fresh air and practise deep breathing as this helps reduce the chance of chest infection. I had lung surgery and the surgeon told me to walk to help prevent infection. I put a bag of rice under my belly button and breathe in snd out so it rised and falls to help strengthen my breathing muscles. This is a good exercise to practise.

Andcake · 17/03/2020 06:56

I wonder if whatever it is hasn’t hit me hard as I take high dose vit d due to hair issues and when I am well run 5k a day. It could be that my body fought it my glands were visibly swollen fighting something. If I could have tested and found out I could be put helping people with no risk 🤔

Broadwayb · 17/03/2020 07:10

Luckystar777 I am like this Shock at your post because I had a similar experience 3 weeks ago. I couldn’t sleep because I felt too hot and then suddenly I was absolutely dripping in sweat. I felt nauseous but not like I was going to vomit. I got up to go to the toilet because I thought it might cool me down and I nearly passed out. I was sitting on the toilet and sweat was running off me like water would if I’d just been in the shower. I had to crawl to a window, open it and sit in front of it for half an hour to stop it. I was ok after that. It was so unlike anything I’ve experienced before. (And I’m
Nowhere near menopause before anyone suggests it - I had a blood test recently that confirms that). You’ve got me wondering now.

Jenksie · 17/03/2020 07:11

I read online that the virus does start in the throat, it stays there for 3-4 days before moving down to the lungs. They recommend gargling with salt water to try and kill the virus or at least diminish its power! Worth giving it a try if you develop a sore throat I guess- it won't hurt!

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 17/03/2020 07:14

I have had all the symptoms except the cough- self isolating and haven't been anywhere since Friday.

I strongly suspect I have it and live in a small town where there have been cases.

The cough thing -until I read more made me feel it must be some other virus. Now it looks like a significant proportion of us don't get that.

SheldonSaysSo1 · 17/03/2020 07:14

As for relieving the burning feeling I have been using my inhaler with varying degrees of success. I have also been eating ice cream although this may only have a psychological affect!
