My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

Wow. After reading this thread..

I think i started feeling very fatigued mid last week. Then the tight chest pains on and off.. Slowly progressed to a deeper, heavier, tighter pain with some burning sensation this evening.

My throat has been sore.. Like I cant keep it moist/have screamed excessively and the past couple days have tasted metallic.

No fever. No cough..

PlantHerd · 17/03/2020 00:41

Occasionally I feel like i cant get enough air. I need to take some deep breaths too.

Never felt like this before!

Lucindainthesky · 17/03/2020 00:46

I've started with the burning chest this evening too. Thought it was heartburn or anxiety. Feel a bit freaked out reading how many have the burning.

I've had a tickly sensation at the top of my chest/throat for a few days now. Little dry cough. Sore throat last week. No fever.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 17/03/2020 00:47

Fuck fuck fuck. Weve just made the decision to all stay home as Im high risk.

Didnt realise the hevay chest was a symptom. I have a drs app (all phone calls now) booked wed as I wasnt sure what it was. I didnt have a temp or a cough. I now have a cough.

Im terrified. Im morbidly obese with not currently controlled asthma. Fuck.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 17/03/2020 00:48

How long do people tend to stay in hospital for? I nees to prepare for this. Fuck.

Luckystar777 · 17/03/2020 00:48

I have had a sore throat on and off for maybe 2 weeks now. It feels like it's going only to feel worse in the morning. Not hot chest, cold chest, like ice just below my throat on Friday but that's gone now, was accompanied by breathlessness and wheezy but that was gone after I managed to sleep a few hours. I had been thinking my breathlessness was anemia as I do have symptoms of that - since mid January been breathless, feeling faint and exhausted - But I got teeth out and had bled a lot and put it down to that. When I have red meat I feel ten times better, when I stop red meat a few days, worse again.

The breathlessness for me didn't feel like pressure on chest, just a struggle to get air in - as though my nose was blocked - but it wasn't.

No fever. Yet. Cold feet and hands actually, which is the other reason I was thinking anemia but maybe I have a combo?

Yes yes my chest was so sore & achy and i felt as though someone was standing on my chest.

The aches & the fatigue were awful Sad

Get well soon Thanks

hollieberrie · 17/03/2020 00:49

I have never had anything that felt like this before. I feel... odd.

iMoan7 · 17/03/2020 00:50

I have tonsillitis. So that’s fun. At least I think that’s what it is. I always get it at this time of year.

Throat is horrific. Chest is fine though.

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 00:51

We need someone with confirmed cv or a Dr to confirm this is cv. Because a cough is the most common symptom and most of you don't have this.

Friendsofmine · 17/03/2020 00:52

With my most recent chest infection that required 10 days off work (last year) I was prescribed a steroid inhaler for the sitting on my chest tightness sensation and told to sleep sat up or on the sofa with my knees at the back, pillow resting on the back of the sofa (aka lying slumped upright back to front!).

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 00:52

@SquashedFlyBiscuit I am sorry I don't know. So sorry you are facing this. Could you ring asthma UK and talk to them?

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 17/03/2020 00:52

@Luckystar777 please be vigilant... are you weeing regularly?
Cold hands & feet can be a sign of sepsis so if you have any doubts get urgent advice . ( im a senior nurse )

angell84 · 17/03/2020 00:52

It would make sense, if there was something in the air, that we would have a burning chest

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 00:53

The main symptoms to look out for are:

a cough - this can be any kind of cough, not just dry
shortness of breath
breathing difficulties
fever (high temperature) or chills
Other symptoms are fatigue, headaches, sore throat, aches and pains.

ShastaBeast · 17/03/2020 00:55

I have a burning sensation too. I do suffer with heart burn and it’s similar, a cool burning right between my breasts. Asthma flared a bit today but only coughing with asthma wheeze. Throat just sore as if I’ve been shouting. No fever at all but a bit snotty with a sore throat beforehand. Feel fine and ok appetite. Assuming it’s just a cold that’s gone to my chest. No one else ill and I’ve hardly been out recently as studying.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 17/03/2020 00:59

@alloutoffucks 67% are experiencing a cough that leaves a lot that aren't.

I didn't have a cough but had awful fatigue & chest ache , muscular aches- but my daughter has experienced it differently with a really dry cough .

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 00:59

Meanwhile, it's important to remember that if shortness of breath is your only symptom, without a cough or fever, something other than COVID-19 is the likely problem.

But none of us have a temperature? Dear God I hope ive just got a virus....

Ive had a tight chest since jan though that was unusual. Althought he cough started today. Surely thats not it..m

Hollyhobbi · 17/03/2020 01:00

That's dreadful @angell84, some more flowers for you💐. Hope you get some sleep. Also might be best just to take Paracetamol not Ibuprofen for pain or fever.

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 01:01

@IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls Thanks. Where did you get that figure from?

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 17/03/2020 01:04

@SquashedFlyBiscuit in terms of raised temperature a temp within range is classed as 37.5 - for CVD19 we are looking at even slightly raised temps as counting as a symptom- eg anything above 37.7.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 17/03/2020 01:05

From the WHO - im very particular about stats Smile

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 01:05

I don't have a thermometer so no idea if DPs temperature is slightly raised.

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 01:06

Thanks Ifonly. Sorry just checking as when you don't know the person quoting stats, it can be hard to know if they are trustworthy.
