My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

Someone unthread mentioned a strange taste in their mouth. I saw a GP with CV being interviewed and she said that she had a very metallic taste in her mouth..

If all the people posting here have cv then it seems it is far more prevalent in the country than thought. All the more reason for people to self isolate.

LemonChiffon · 17/03/2020 00:06

I can't believe this! I have this too - a tight chest that started on Wednesday, a feeling in my throat/airways like when you've overexerted yourself earlier in the day, like a slight winded feeling. And feeling slightly breathless. But I've had no temperature and no cough.

I went to an out of hours gp on Saturday and spoke to my gp today because I was worried it might be something serious. Neither of them even mentioned it could be CV, and the first one listened to my chest.

MajesticWhine · 17/03/2020 00:06

I have a tight chest and a slight burning sensation too. I have been telling myself it is anxiety. I have no cough and I can breathe normally.

LemonChiffon · 17/03/2020 00:08

NHS 111 page says if you don't have a cough or high temperature, it's unlikely you have CV?

angell84 · 17/03/2020 00:09

Thank you @Thinkingabout1t, it means alot! I hate that f#%ing guy!! And men like him. They are risking other people's health.

It is really good to check in on each other here. I hope everyone gets a nice rest tonight. Lots of fluids

OP, what a double whammy you've had you poor thing. We are all here now to get through this together and let's support each other.

I've found this thread really helpful. I agree there is a lack of information on symptoms. Other countries are listing more than our NHS is listing. Here are mine day by day in case helpful.

Returned from a French ski resort 9 days ago. Felt tired for three days upon return but had been skiing so it made sense.

Wednesday last week was day one of feeling very tired. Couldn't focus on work at all. Shattered. Slight chest tightness. Slight shortness of breath. Mild sore throat, more like a gritty throat. Nothing like a regular throat infection where it hurts to swallow.

Day two symptoms increased and also got muscle pain.

Day three all same symptoms but chest and breathing worse. Started getting sudden chills, very cold and teeth chattering. Went away within 15 mins. Still sleeping heaps.

Day four slept a lot. Felt ok waking up, deteriorated around 5pm and went to bed. Climbing stairs makes me noticeably short on breath. This is not normal. Chills continue.

Day five my right arm and top of back and right shoulder started aching. Chills again. Woke up feeling better and again deteriorated.

Day six throat is now more scratchy and I've coughed a few times. Slightly runny nose. Not congested. A short walk (being very careful not to be near anyone!) Was hard work. Breathless. Chills afterwards. Chest tighter. Arm now feels like a dead weight, aching in upper arm and very stiff. Back hurts.

Here is why I didn't think it could be Corona til now:

I've been cold rather than hot.
I have anxiety and in the past have had tight chest due to panic. I feel anxious and panicky but it's hard to tell if that's because of my symptoms.
I did a proper faceplant while skiing and hurt my right shoulder. Therefore I assume my arm is so painful now due to that but it seems quite delayed?

I've not considered calling GP as assume they are swamped. My dh thinks I have Corona and I've said it's anxiety. And there's no way to know! I am isolating just in case but also am not up to working much. I feel unwell but it's on and off.

hollieberrie · 17/03/2020 00:10

Also I have lost a few pounds in weight despite eating normally.
Yes Majestic and Lemon, no cough or fever for me either.
I haven't half been out and about though. Work, friends.. I never thought this might be CV. I was looking out for fever and cough!!!!

CatherineCawood · 17/03/2020 00:10

This article is interesting. It states tight chest, nasal congestion, runny nose. Think I'm going to have to ring work in the morning.

hollieberrie · 17/03/2020 00:12

Also breathless going up stairs. Not normal at all for me either.

angell84 · 17/03/2020 00:15

Feel better @Littleninja1.

Some one else mentioned that their eyes are a bit sore, mine are too. Like I had been in a swimming pool with alot of chlorine

StormBaby · 17/03/2020 00:19

@LemonChiffon that's exactly what my chest feels like, as if I've overexerted myself running at the gym. Raw and tight and heavy. Started on Friday at work. Sore throat all weekend, diarrhoea this morning.

I'm now convinced it's CV after reading this thread.

Savingshoes · 17/03/2020 00:22

@angell84, that's horrendous, my heart goes out to you. Flowers

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 00:22

A friend had an early confirmed case, now recovering. She said it felt like an elephant was sitting on her chest.

CatherineCawood · 17/03/2020 00:27

@StormBaby @LemonChiffon yes that's it like when you've run really hard and your throat burns and feels raw. Ahhh ffs. I went to the supermarket yesterday and for a walk with a friend. Bollocks. I did serve myself in supermarket and sanitised my hands before I got the trolley.

stardust22 · 17/03/2020 00:29

I have to comment too, I cant sleep as I keep coming back to look at this post.

My chest feels raw/tight/heavy, I described it to my husband as feeling on fire. This started on Friday, I've never felt anything like it before. I had a 2 day headache Friday & Saturday. This evening I had diarrhoea.
My chest hurts more when lay down & I feel my breathing is fast.

Wilmalovescake · 17/03/2020 00:29

Well this is an interesting read. In the last fortnight I’ve had:
A tight chest
Heartburn
Sore back and ribs
Horrid headaches
A bit of a cold
Diarrhoea
Tiredness
Muscle aches, esp in arms
Vaguely sore throat

None of it has ever quite come to anything and the symptoms change each day.

It doesn’t sound like CV... perhaps we all have a different virus??

Hmm.

Justaboy · 17/03/2020 00:30

It would be a very good idea if there was more testing and anyone having the symptoms here were tested for CV as then we'd know how the illness was progressing and it would be good data to have the see if there were any after effects and or residual infections carrying forward etc.

It woud be a very usefull bit of info for those that have had it and recovered least they'd know how they stood!

But don't for a moment suppose it will happen:(

hollieberrie · 17/03/2020 00:32

Yes yes to a bit of diarrhoea (just once) and feeling like I've over done it at the gym. I googled heartburn and chest pain and got costochondritis which apparently can happens from over exercising. So i thought it must be that or pregnancy.
This thread is Shock

Friendsofmine · 17/03/2020 00:32

A lot of these symptoms sound like a typical chest infection I often get this time of year.

alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 00:33

Why would this be cv though. Surely it will just be another bug doing the rounds?

Savingshoes · 17/03/2020 00:34

@tangledyarn pleased your inhalers are helping, what are you using for tightness of chest? Some people are trying vix… can you use this with your asthma?

@notangelinajolie suggests Robitussin Linctus, is this working for anyone else?

@angell84, what has been helpful for your burning/chest on fire feeling?

I'm assuming lying flat and not moving about much does little to help the burning and shortness of breath, what has everyone done to help their breathlessness - are people just sleeping sitting up?

I've seen that ibuprofen isn't a good idea. Are people just applying heat pads etc to achy muscles if they have them?
Any other over the counter remedies people can suggest?

angell84 · 17/03/2020 00:35

@Friendsofmine it just feels different to any chest infection I have had in the past.

If I could describe it for me - it feels like something chemical has been sprayed into my lungs

OP posts:
alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 00:37

My DP has all these symptoms mildly but keeps saying it is not cv as no cough or temperature.
Do WHO have any more guidance that helps?

MorganKitten · 17/03/2020 00:38

I’m asthmatic so always feel like that

Fieldofgreycorn · 17/03/2020 00:38

Littleninja1 have you had a high temperature? What you’re describing sounds like it could be flu?
