My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

I’ve had a really stuffy nose for a few days, yesterday I got conjunctivitis. Odd I thought but I do work with children. No pains or temperature but now I read that conjunctivitis can be a symptom. Nothing on nhs info but tons in different countries. I feel a fraud if I stay home. What do you think?

Casino218 · 19/03/2020 20:41

Please take cautious approach. Corona viruses can enter via eyes as we pick up virus on hands. Sod what work think.

Woke up today aching and I now have an elephant on my chest. Asthma sufferer and I have been through pneumonia before, so it's all grumpily familiar.

Praracetamol, bath and nebulizer calling.

findingschools4myboys · 19/03/2020 21:03

@tempestterra
I am glad I was able to reassure you. I know how important that is at this time. I have 4 children at home so totally get it. My son respiratory doc who is based at great ormond street said after speaking to colleagues abroad and see what’s going on here, children are really mildly affected if affected at all.

@SquashedFlyBiscuit
Try not to worry now. The NHS is not overloaded yet so if you would need to be seen you would be seen that’s for sure. That’s why they are really trying hard to make sure people who can cope at home don’t come in. Keep the faith!

screamer1 · 19/03/2020 21:07

Is the likelihood that if you have vague symptoms on day 6, then you're not really going to get it seriously? Or could you rapidly decline?

Theredjellybean · 19/03/2020 21:08

I am certain I have it.. Three days of feeling like elephants sat on chest, irritating occasionally coughing, a bit warm... I don't have a thermometer.
Sob going up stairs
Headache is thumping and aches a cross shoulders.

Last week I ran a half marathon, I am not in at risk groups, I am. Never ill, but boy I feel rubbish

EricaNernie · 19/03/2020 21:09

How without a thermometer do I know if its a fever or a hot flush,? Is the fever meant to be continuous?

Casino218 · 19/03/2020 21:11

Feel your skin on your back. Does it feel hot?

EricaNernie · 19/03/2020 21:13

What permanent hot??

Casino218 · 19/03/2020 21:23

Temperature fluctuates. It may not stay high. Sometimes it's easier if you feel your back to tell if you are hot.

BinkyandBunty · 19/03/2020 21:31

Update: my swab test is back from hospital and I am NEGATIVE for coronavirus.

If it helps anyone, I'll summarise my symptoms that led to being tested:

  • heat/pain/tightness in breastbone area and upper back for more than a week, it comes and goes, and varies in severity but is there 90% of the time
  • short of breath and puffing after any exertion despite being fit normally
  • waves of heat and sweats, mostly normal temperature but over 37 a few times over the last few days, highest 37.6
  • an occasional cough and mild sore throat
  • occasional light headache
  • unpleasant metallic taste on breath. Not all the time, but every day, usually in the evenings
  • drippy nose most of the time

I was shocked when I found this post, because so many of us seemed to have the same thing, it made sense that it would be CV. Especially as I'm in Australia so that ruled out a local UK virus, or hayfever.

So I'm off to the GP again to find out what it could be.

I hope everyone gets better soon, and hope the UK expands its testing regime so you can get some answers!

Thelnebriati · 19/03/2020 21:41

Fantastic news, thanks for posting that.

fairyfingers · 19/03/2020 21:43

Really interesting reading. I had a nasty bout of something 3 weeks ago but was told it couldn't possibly be cv as I hadn't been in touch with anyone and had a slightly snotty nose which meant a cold only.

However, all the other symptoms (fever, awful aches, chills, lethargy, dry cough, tight chest and mild breathlessness. Oh and sore throat). Reading this, some of the other things I dismissed (burny chest, indigestion, dizziness, mid back pain) may have not been me being silly!

I'll never know for sure I guess. But if it was it, hopefully it's reassuring to some that I'm now totally fine. Took until maybe last weekend for the chest symptoms to clear up and for me to be less tired. So ill for about 14 days and proper bed bound ill for 3.

But then it might have just been flu..,,,

KayakingOnDown · 19/03/2020 21:43

I have tight chest, chest pain, sore eyes, headache which comes and goes, shortness of breath. Had a cold last week and still have some nasal congestion. Burning eyes were noticed by my boss on Monday (I haven't been back at work since). So I think I'm about Day 5 of the second (lung) phase. I believe the first phase is more like a cold.
Spoke to my GP today. He's pretty sure it's CV. Told me and family to self-isolate for 14 days.

angell84 · 19/03/2020 21:54

I still have burning lungs. I now have a strange coating on my tongue. Anyone else?

DorsetCamping · 19/03/2020 22:02

My eyes are a bit sore and I also feel a bit achey. But strangest thing is a metallic taste. Wonder if I'm brewing Confused

onlinelinda · 19/03/2020 22:14

I have confirmed my doc today, as far as they could without test. Was possible Monday, probable today. Best I'll get. Despite deep terror before I got it as I have copd, its not too awful. Only skim reading bits on this thread not to scare myself! (I have eyes thing too- and god, the chills).

onlinelinda · 19/03/2020 22:14

onlinelinda · 19/03/2020 22:34

@screamer1, I am wondering that.

Littleninja1 · 19/03/2020 23:25

Link to Ireland's advice on symptoms: www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/symptoms-causes-treatment.html

Much more than the NHS and similar to what many of us have. They say "fever or chills". I've had chills that come on so suddenly and I'm like ice, shivering, shaking, teeth chattering. Never experienced this in my life before. Still going on after 8 days.

Tisahardlife · 19/03/2020 23:32

Ok, so, after having a strange numbness in my throat and a feeling of restricted airways last night followed by a couple of boughts of coughing this morning and a hung over feeling most of today (without drinking), I now, this evening, feel absolutely fine.

I'm wondering if I've experienced psychosomatic symptoms and have not been infected despite being in contact with CV a week ago.

Thoughts?

TheYearOfTheDog · 19/03/2020 23:41

Sore eyeballs!? omg. The dread of this virus is giving me so much anxiety.

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 20/03/2020 00:01

Well it is day six fr me and I am feeling a tightness in my lungs and an irritating slight cough is settling in- it feels like something is caught deep in my throat rather than at the back of it.

Feel totally wiped out energy wise- walking around home is exhausting after the most simple of tasks. No appetite. Feels a lot warmer but not fever level.

alittleprivacy · 20/03/2020 00:04

I have a normal temperature and no cough. But I have an extremely sore throat, swollen glands, a pressure in my ears like they are going to pop at times, a tight constricted chest, difficulty catching my breath and a weird tingly feeling down my airways and into my lungs. I'm very fatigued, have muscle aches and a sore back. I'm just so tired from mild exertion, my legs feel like jelly after a few minutes walking about and I find it harder to breath when I move around.

onlinelinda · 20/03/2020 00:17

My symptoms are severe chills, NO temperature, slight cough, headache, occasional headache, bit dizzy once, increasingly sore back this evening. I struggled to get past 111 as no temp initially, but dr now convinced. Bern in this bed pretty consistently all week.
