My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

longshot thank you that's useful advice. The more I read on here the surer I am I have it. I wasn't feeling so bad early so took the dog in to the garden (fully away from other humans) and through ball several times, but over exerted as chest back in its vice. Dog not impressed that she hasn't been out for her usual decent gallop!

Just got back home from visiting a & e with my dd. They didn’t test her as she wasn’t being admitted (thankfully) but the doctor said “everything
points to her having the virus”. My dd was prescribed stronger pain relief and steroids to calm her airways because she has asthma. It was getting busy in the hospital, lots of patients coughing but everyone wearing masks and staff washing their hands constantly. Dd now sleeping after being up most of the night, she’s completely wiped out and is scared as her symptoms seem to settle only for them to flare up again. I wish everyone better very soon.

TheWooisStrong · 19/03/2020 15:10

Adding my symptoms...
Started with a sore throat, lower than usual. Thought I’d just been yelling at the kids too much. Hot feeling eyes. I had this for a good 3-4 days.
Yesterday and the day before, upper back pain, breathlessness last night and night before, I’ve been sleeping propped up. Chest feels achey/tight over breastbone. I kind of thought it was stress. Intermittent chills, never enough of a temp to worry about.
Chest is less achey today although I still feel cold and shivery. Slight breathlessness (improving) and general fatigue. Sore throat has gone today.
Mid back pain between my shoulder blades, and lower back pain, but I’ve got a bad lower back anyway. Paranoid I’ve got some kind of kidney failure thing but I’m a hypochondriac and my nurse sister has just told me to give my head a wobble and drink a pint of water!

KayakingOnDown · 19/03/2020 15:25

I have similar symptoms - tight and sore chest, sore eyes, headache, slight breathlessness, occasionally shivery. In NI. A colleague has tested positive (but I don't know who - we're a big organisation and weren't told who it was) and several others including me are showing these symptoms.

SchrodingersKitty · 19/03/2020 15:40

If this isn’t cv I’m surprised there are so many of us with the same symptoms on here and so few with the official main symptoms of cough and high temperature. The thread title wouldn’t rule them out. Is the official emphasis being put on the wrong symptoms or is it possible there is a very specific other virus also rampant at the moment? Sorry if a bit unclear. Feeling rather woozy now.

hollytom · 19/03/2020 15:40

The burning in my lungs has eased. I am finding my legs are achy and very hot. Lying here with window open and bare legs. Does anyone else have that?

SchrodingersKitty · 19/03/2020 15:43

@hollytom: yes, cold and a hey legs starting today - day 8/9 I think.

SchrodingersKitty · 19/03/2020 15:44

Achy.

SchrodingersKitty · 19/03/2020 15:45

Just noticed your legs are hot - mine the opposite. I keep wondering how many of these symptoms I’d have been concerned about if not for cv. Probably I’d have seen doctor about lung pain but not really the rest.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 19/03/2020 15:59

I woke up with achey legs today! Like I’d run a marathon. So glad others have had this.

longshot · 19/03/2020 16:04

@schrodingersKitty I agree, I would only have gone about the chest pain, that is / was concerning but the rest just bloody horrible but not concerning!

hollytom · 19/03/2020 16:05

Glad I’m not the only one. Feeling exhausted today but my chest isn’t as tight so hopefully on the way out

Haybo26 · 19/03/2020 16:09

I have a burning pain right in the middle of my chest and feels a bit tight and had a sore throat for about a week.

SchrodingersKitty · 19/03/2020 16:15

A friend just very kindly picked up some shopping for us, so now I have more peppermint tea and some Green and Blacks chocolate. Not everything is bad!

user34254356 · 19/03/2020 16:19

Day 6 continues and the worst one so far for me. Thankfully no chest pain but utterly exhausted and been in bed all day.

hollieberrie · 19/03/2020 16:28

My legs are achy and wobbly! But in general, feeling much better now - day 7.

hollytom · 19/03/2020 16:34

I am also day 6 and finding I am exhausted. Very wobbly on feet on few occasions I have got out of bed

Thelnebriati · 19/03/2020 16:35

Days 5, 6 &7 were the worst; exhausted, achy legs, & also had a stiff neck and aversion to light...I've never been so happy to have a migraine! Thankfully it all seems to be wearing off now.

blossombabies · 19/03/2020 16:55

i have been feeling strange the last 3-4 days. it started with the feeling of my chest being on fire every time i cough.
i can pin point exactly where 'the infection' would be in my chest.
i coughed dry cough for ages as i do seasonally but on tuesday it was the worst.
i always feel like i have a fever but never over 37C
last night when i took paracetamol i 'sweated' it off and my body felt really cool.
last night pain from burning chest turned into actual pain and this morning i have been breathless whenever i walk so i have stayed in bed all day.
i dont cough anywhere near as much as tuesday, where i was actually chokin.
i have sense of body aches in my arms mostly and a headache now.

we are all isolated anyway for the foreseeable future but my soon who has never been ill ( he is 8) coughed dry cough a few times and suddenly starts to feel really hot and lathargic but fever is normal and complains of stomach ache.

if it is CV, its nothing that would usually stop me getting on with mu day.

NotquitewhatImeant · 19/03/2020 17:04

I think myself and my daughter had this 10 days ago - my daughter had a temp followed a few days later with a dry continuous cough. I had sore throat and then very sore chest for two weeks. Hurt to take a breath but was otherwise ok. My son now has a cough. We have been self isolating

Mydogdoesntlisten · 19/03/2020 17:11

I've just tried to find it again so I could post a link, but unfortunately I couldn't, but earlier this week I read about the symptoms of CV from someone who had had it in South Korea. (The article was in South China Morning Post, and the person who had made the contribution had been diagnosed as being positive for CV- now recovering).
He described symptoms of pressure on his chest, stabbing pains in his chest and also described a burning feeling (although he wasn't sure whether the burning was due to CV or the drugs he was given in hospital).
I was quite shocked when I read it, as I had had the same symptoms- a feeling of pressure on my chest, breathlessness and heartburn (which I never suffer from), and obviously, as plenty of PPs have said, these symptoms do not seem to be listed as typical. (Although I did subsequently get a slight temp, headache and slight cough).
I assume I have had CV?
This was unfortunately before there was any guidance to self isolate- the 111 online checker at that point said that unless you had been travelling, or knew someone with CV, there was no need to isolate.
DS (19) had chest pressure and pains, and DH had slight temp, slight cough, chest pain and headache.
If these symptoms are common, should the information being circulated be updated?

user34254356 · 19/03/2020 17:13

@blossombabies ditto on the feeling of fever but no temperature. I have been taking paracetamol and feeling better soon after and sweating it off !

@thelnebriati thanks for sharing. What day are you on?

Mizzling · 19/03/2020 17:21

Another one here with very similar set of symptoms to others - sore throat, fatigue/weakness, then tight chest, breathing heavily, headache, and now, 6 days in, a chesty cough with some pain in my lungs.

I had assumed it wasn't Covid based on the information on the 111 website, because my temperature hasn't gone above 37 degrees and I haven't had a continuous dry cough. Having read this thread I'm not so sure. If we do all have it, is 111 actually quite worryingly misleading?

KingaRoo · 19/03/2020 17:42

I've had a sore throat for about 10 days and chest tightness/slight burning in the middle of my breastbone for about 5 days, never had it before but thought it might be hayfever as I've also had slightly itchy /irritated eyes. But otherwise feel totally normal, no cough or temperature so am not self-isolating, no fatigue or aches. My symptoms are very very mild. Really confused whether this is a totally different virus /anxiety symptom or corona?

One DC has complained of feeling unusually tired and the other had stomach ache and felt hot but no temperature. DH also has the chest tightness.

All very mild symptoms that I would never normally take much notice of, haven't even taken paracetamol or anything.

I'm worried that we're unknowingly infecting other people but are self-employed so can't afford to stop working for 2 weeks for a mild sore throat/chest tightness when NHS guidelines say this isn't corona and no need to isolate.

Very confused...

SchrodingersKitty · 19/03/2020 17:53

I tried the 111online questionnaire to see if it recognised these symptoms as CV. As someone said up thread about the phone service it very quickly steered into questions designed to see if I was a heart attack. I really don't think everyone on this thread has been having heart attacks for over a week. Despite anecdotal evidence that people are being diagnosed with these symptoms, 111 does not seem to be registering them.
