My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

@Orangeblossom78
I thought I read a few days ago the government were telling people not to use these as they’re not very reliable.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 19/03/2020 11:20

@AppleBlossomTimeNow I have exactly the same - I think I’m on day 10. Started feeling better on day 6 / 7, then went down hill again. Have chest pains and a weird stabby pain in the bottom of my right rib. Still shivery and legs hurting. I read on the WHO website it takes an average of 2 weeks to recover from it. I also feel exhausted and like I’m swimming through a fog. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 19/03/2020 11:22

@Skybluepink123 did they do a test for CV? Hope you manage to get some answers and your DD feels better soon

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 19/03/2020 11:24

Phew - thanks @KeysDontBelongInTheFridge - I keep over thinking & doubting myself. My fear is that I've just had a cold and am exaggerating symptoms out of hypochondria.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 19/03/2020 11:24

@BinkyandBunty have you had the results back yet? Glad someone finally looked at you.

I think part of the scary bit is being ill, and knowing there’s a battle on your hands if you need any help.

hollieberrie · 19/03/2020 11:37

Day 7 here and feeling better, just a mild burning in chest. Although i thought this yest and then had a bad turn in the early eve which lasted until i went to bed.

Hope everyone is doing ok. Time, rest and fluids are what i am banking on to get me through this. Rest up everyone.

This thread is so great, its helping me a lot.

stayathomegardener · 19/03/2020 11:43

I think whatever we have the key will be to continue to treat yourself as ill when you start to feel better as if it is CV it will flare up again.

The strangest thing is mine started with a weird throat but that was 8 weeks ago, just not been able to shift it. Seems far too early.

Orangeblossom78 · 19/03/2020 11:49

Mummyoflittledragon

OK thanks, I will bear that in mind.

fafffaffmorefaff · 19/03/2020 12:19

Would taking steam help in case suffering from this virus? Open up the lung and help breathe?

Moknicker · 19/03/2020 12:41

Hi everyone,
Yesterday i saw some research saying that Covid also affect the digestive system in some people and that the chest burning is in fact acid moving into the digestive track. I took a heavy dose of antacids and have immediate relief from the chest pain/ burning.
I still have the sore throat, headache. bodyache.
Hope this helps some of you.
Im on Day 8 btw.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 19/03/2020 12:49

@moknicker that’s great, thanks for the advice! Where was the research from? Would just like to read it, as I’ve been having terrible stomach pains / acid problems (which I’ve never suffered from)

findingschools4myboys · 19/03/2020 13:09

@Moknicker
That’s interesting. I am having runny tummy and struggling with indigestion. I am not getting lung burning but my nose suddenly feels like it’s burning a bit. Very odd! Almost like I am inhaling vicks everytime I breath.

On a good note, I just watched one of my fav shows and actually it made me not focus on my breathing so much so thought I felt better! Although I am sort of still stuck in bed.

SchrodingersKitty · 19/03/2020 13:17

I think I'm on day 8 or 9. I am definitely not as bad as some on here. Tight chest, some burning but not terrible, still very odd scratchy sore throat. More muscle aching and chills today than previously. I was feeling better yesterday but seem to be a bit worse again today. Some deep lung pain - stabbing feelings. Back ache and tightness around breastbone. Face flushing again but don't seem to have a temperature. Get really breathless going up stairs (4 flights kitchen to my study). I find a hot waterbottle helps with the lung / back pains. Drinking gallons of peppermint tea - the steam and heat helps.

I'm a uni lecturer, so desperately trying to get online teaching materials prepared and up for next week. I should be recording some talking heads lectures and running live online seminars, but I am still not fit to be seen (and there's no way I'm getting out of my pyjamas) so they may have to be audio only.

No sign of any infection in DH (who is 71 and potentially immune-compromised as may have lymphoma / some other brain tumour) or DS (recently returned from uni where they had 6 confirmed cases). I am rigorously keeping away from them, but you would think they might be showing some symptoms. We are all observing 14 days isolation from probably date of start of my symptoms (it merged with a long standing chest infection, so hard to tell).

Thinking of you all. Really hoping they get those antibody tests developed soon.

VivaLeBeaver · 19/03/2020 13:23

Had a slight case of the shits again this morning.
Tummy is churning
Scratchy throat
tight chest/pressure
can't take a deep breath.

But overall, OK.

GinJeanie · 19/03/2020 13:27

Symptoms can be more varied than high temperature and dry cough... sore throat and breathlessness are symptoms many people have too...

My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else
Tonkerbea · 19/03/2020 13:33

Just started a thread, but does anyone think their toddler has it?

longshot · 19/03/2020 13:33

Bit of an update here. This is day 8 for me.

I’m marginally better today, chest pain is easing and slightly more energy, that means I have got out of bed and managed to hang some washing out then gone back to bed! Still feel rough generally but more like my self mentally.

I went in for an ECG and chest x Ray yesterday as my GP was concerned and told me to call 111 who sent me in. The tests were ok and I have been told I am very likely to have Covid 19 however they wouldn’t swab me due to lack of test kits and also as I wasn’t being admitted it would have taken time and they didn’t need to!

I feel that now I’ve heard from the Drs mouth I am pretty confident that my symptoms are coronavirus. There were several people in at the same time complaining of:

Chest pain
Temps (often mild)
Dry, intermittent cough
Severe aches and pains
Headaches
Diarrhoea
Fatigue

I’ve had all of that plus the ‘chest in a vice’ feeling for over a week. I think / hope I am starting to improve but only time will tell...this is probably at the mild - moderate end of the spectrum and I’ve still felt shocking.

So far my family have not become symptomatic really (some sore throats and fatigue but no more) but obviously we are isolating for full 14 days.

Good luck all!

longshot · 19/03/2020 13:36

Sorry should have been morn specific. Dr said they are seeing:

Chest tightness
Chest shooting pains (I had these and that’s what they wanted to check)
Breathlessness

I am not a medic so only passing on my experience here and please remember this is only one Dr and my GP so I’m sure different people will be saying and experiencing different things!

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 19/03/2020 14:07

@longshot thanks for the update! Glad you’re feeling a bit better. It’s also good to know what a dr has said in regards to the symptoms. Try and take it easy though, as I keep making the mistake of feeling slightly better, doing too much and then ending back in bed again. Fingers crossed we’ll get back to full health soon (think my partner might be going slightly bonkers looking after the kids solo!)

Casino218 · 19/03/2020 14:19

@longshot thanks for update. That's myself and DH symptoms so we started isolating yesterday. D D (14) has a blocked nose!

findingschools4myboys · 19/03/2020 14:23

anyone else most worried about the chest tightness and breathlessness?

@longshot
My GP who is working in a London hospital and seeing loads of cases also says main complaint is chest tightness, fever and lethargy.

SchrodingersKitty · 19/03/2020 14:30

Have been up and working this morning but now feeling sick and faint so retiring to my recliner and netflix!

Casino218 · 19/03/2020 14:33

I think the virus entered via my right eye. It is a route of entry and it became itchy and pink and then they both became gritty. It has been reported a number of times as a symptom.

Resisterance · 19/03/2020 14:36

I have exactly the same symptoms as you OP. Have been self isolated since Tuesday afternoon as no getting through 111 or anyone else! I'm in a fair bit of pain and needing to rest but still having to do bits of work from home as self employed and will starve if not.

What are you doing to help with the symptoms? It really hurts doesn't it!

squiglet111 · 19/03/2020 14:52

Ok I think I have it. I have been sure then unsure then sure again... But from reading what everyone has said I think I have it. Just wish we could all get tested!

I have had this for 18 days now. I caught it from my daughter who goes to nursery. She recovered quickly apart from a mild on and off cough.

I'm trying to remember the symptoms but they were roughly like this.

Started with sore throat. Then a cough developed.

I had a bit of chills but didn't get a temperature. I never checked, but never felt hot enough to check.

I had the burning in chest at points.

For a few nights I struggled with sleep. I would keep waking up struggling to swallow and had a bad taste in my mouth.

I did have mucus for a week or so and some day a lot of it. Green/yellow in colour.

Last weekend I felt quite bad. I woke up a few days with conjunctivitis and I had shortness of breath. This is when I thought I had Corona. 111 said I hadn't been aboard so it was just viral! (I'm a teacher with a son in primary and daughter in nursery! Plenty of chances to get it!)

For the last week I've been waking up with daily headaches. They feel like sinus headaches. The only thing that has helped has been sudafed. This has been getting better.

Today on and off I have had a really weird burning sensation in my sinuses behind bridge of my nose. It's really weird and feels like I have snorted a lot of water. When this happens I have to blow my nose quite a lot to clear out the liquid?! Water? It's clear anyway! Really not sure what this is! This new symptom has worried me slightly as not sure where this liquid is coming from! If its my lungs, I don't feel any pain from it!

I have felt like I've been getting better tho. Most symptoms have gone apart from the weird nose fluid and the cough that's been with me throughout which are now rarer and less frequent coughs. Occasionally having a few coughing fits tho.

I think that's all my symptoms that I've had.

But the symptoms have been weird and all over the place!
