My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

Oh and I haven’t had a temperature since my lungs went on fire. Been checking daily. Feeling chilly / hot on and off though.

findingschools4myboys · 19/03/2020 06:58

@TolstoyAteMyHamster
Yes I feel similar. I have tightness and keep taking deep breaths but the flow is fine. I don’t think it helps that I have anxiety about this all though. Think that is exacerbating my chest feelings.

wherestheotherone · 19/03/2020 07:02

I am convinced I have CV and yes my lungs burn, I feel tired, achey, dizzy, headache. It's like nothing I've had before. I have not had a temperature and my cough is not really bad or very frequent. I feel sick because of an acid/heartburn feeling.

findingschools4myboys · 19/03/2020 07:03

I think I am on day 9 (if I go by the day I had temp last week), or if I am going by when started feeling poorly would be day 5.
I still have a tight chest. Occasional cough. Temp went up to 37.9 yesterday then went back down. Had a runny tummy yesterday and this morning. Had a headache last night and aches in my body, my legs muscles hurt just from sitting.
Woke up at 3:30 and was calm for about 10 seconds then started shaking from anxiety so bad so got up to get some fresh air and chill out.
Am still waiting for my test to arrive.
My youngest son started sneezing yesterday afternoon and my hubby says he doesn’t feel great but feels better (he has cough and tight chest that started Monday)

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/03/2020 07:08

Oops I just read your dd is feeling a bit better this morning sky. Good. Don’t understand how I missed that. But I’m glad for her and hope she feels better and better. I know there will be peaks and troughs.

user34254356 · 19/03/2020 07:13

@findingschools4myboys sorry to hear you had anxiety last night. Can I ask where are you getting a test from? I would be keen to get myself privately tested but the one place I found online says 6 days for delivery!

I am in the same state with anxiety and chills.

Day 6, feel like i am in phase 2 of aches pains and feverish feeling. chest pain has gone this morning but we know this virus does come in waves.

ShastaBeast · 19/03/2020 07:34

My heartburn burning feeling is now stronger & wider with a cold feeling stretching into the lower left side, and I’m coughing more. DH coughing a bit and youngest (8) is having asthma flare up while eldest (10) is coughing occasionally with a slightly stuffy nose. No fever in the house at all.

We’re London and I’d hardly been out recently, if I have it it must be extremely prevalent in London. But I can see why as we are all well enough to go to work/school.

Oldmrswasherwoman · 19/03/2020 07:36

lifestoshort findingschools and tolstoy the shortness of breath thing is my only real symptom, along with tiredness (but thats normal). If its that I am on day 5. I am far worse by the evening, took some of my sons old inhaler then later coughed up some muxus. Plugged in the vicks vapour plug overnight to see if it helps, slightly better this morning, still feel blurgh but ok, def gets worse later in the day.
It all seems extremely mild, would just like to know as want to warn people I have mixed with, but don't want to seem like an attention seeker or an alarmist.

Sarmham · 19/03/2020 07:50

I’ve spent a lot of the night on hold to 111 and just finished talking to a second doc re my symptoms (heavy, almost heartburny, tight chest/shoulders). I was really looking for advice as to how to keep my baby safe as it’s impossible to stay away from her when I’m breastfeeding. They had very little advice other than wash my hands and try not to sneeze/cough on her. They focused on my symptoms..the issue is it’s very hard for them to distinguish between cardiac and respiratory problems when presenting with these symptoms. They wanted me to go in an ambulance to a&e for an ecg & blood test to rule out a heart attack....
While I’m not a medic, I don’t think I’m having a heart attack, I know someone else definitely needs that ambulance more than me and I don’t have much expressed milk so my baby (who they advised not to bring with me) would also be affected were I to go. So I said no and they’ve said I’m taking a risk. It’s really frustrating but I see it from their point of view. They’ve said if my (or anyone in the house’s) breathing gets worse, to call back or get an ambulance.

Just to give my own experience - I've been suffering with chest pain since last Friday mainly in the evening which has felt worse last couple of evenings . Last night was so bad I didn't sleep a wink felt like someone was sat on my chest or a belt round it and a weird Popping feeling and pain and pressure front and back. It was so bad I rang 111 at 5am. They ended up sending a paramedic to check me out and they couldn't find anything wrong and said it was most likely the stress of current situation . Needless to say I feel really guilty for calling our paramedics for this but it did feel really really bad and I even thought I might be having a collapsed lung or heart attack. The paramedics were so reassuring and made me feel so much calmer. I know this is just my experience but it does show how stress can have a huge impact physically so I hope this can offer some reassurance. I have no temp and no cough importantly.
I'm going to have a day away from the news and social media and try and relax

TakeANote · 19/03/2020 08:50

Thanks thirty: I’m glad you are okay. I think you are probably right: that a great deal of this is anxiety related. Doesn’t make it less real.

BinkyandBunty · 19/03/2020 09:00

@findingschools4myboys do you have a home test kit coming?

Having had a swab test at a hospital clinic today I'm intrigued as to how one would carried out at home.

The swab was inserted and moved around in my throat, then my nostril, way (WAY) beyond comfort levels, it would be impossible to do to yourself and quite tricky and scary for a non HCP to do to anyone else, I would think. It still hurts 12 hours later.

Sarmham · 19/03/2020 09:09

@BinkyandBunty yikes that sounds painful! Out of interest, how did you organise the test? Are the NHS testing people who aren’t in hospital now?

BinkyandBunty · 19/03/2020 09:13

@sarmham I'm in Australia, had to work very hard to get a test. In the end, I got to my GP who could see I was sick but refused to touch me (or even let me in the building!) until CV was ruled out, so he referred me to hospital.

I didn't meet the government's criteria for a test, despite having all the symptoms, but the GP referral seemed to get me over the line.

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 19/03/2020 09:24

I'm day 8 but obvs undiagnosed as in uk. Started with temperature, headache, bone tiredness and a gravelly throat. No cough till now & my lungs feel 'raw' and burny. I wish I knew one way or the other. It's confusing because On day 5/6 i felt loads better but now I'm crappy again. Also feeling quite 'low' - mood & energy. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Busymummy16 · 19/03/2020 09:35

Hi everyone. I’ve had similar symptoms to people on here.. since Friday very gradually I’ve become more achey, headaches, sore throat, sore eyes (hard to look at phone), occasional feeling of fever that disappears, very occasional cough, sore lungs (but not overly as I’ve had worse with asthma and chest infections before).. this must be about day 5 now .. I have chronic pain conditions which can cause fluey symptoms.. but this is something else I think. My toddler also has a cough. Generally fine during day but night she is quite poorly. She had bronchiolitis in the past. My other two are developing mild coughs.
Has anyone approached 111 with these symptoms? I’m not sure if we need to if we are managing at home
Wish we knew either way though.

findingschools4myboys · 19/03/2020 09:37

@BinkyandBunty
Yes I am not looking forward to doing it myself. I am thinking the delivery will be delayed now that they have been inundated with orders!
Had a big deep coughing fit with some mucous which hurt my back and then I had to lie down. Hope it doesn’t mean anything is progressing!

Skybluepink123 · 19/03/2020 09:38

After speaking to 111 again at 6am, I was advised to bring my dd to a & e. She had bloods taken, we’re both wearing masks and are waiting to see a doctor. They seem puzzled when we keep pointing out that the fever comes and goes as did the diarrhoea. All observations are “unremarkable” but none of that explains why my dd has been ill with a dreadful cough, chest pain and fever for the last 6 days.

findingschools4myboys · 19/03/2020 09:39

@Busymummy16
I was told just to call 111 if so unwell you think you need to see a doc or be admitted.

StealthMama · 19/03/2020 09:53

This thread is a good example of why the antibody test is so important. Lots of people will have it with milder symptoms.

I woke up the morning feeling exhausted, headache, bit achey, no temp yet will just have to monitor. I've had a killer sore throat for 3 weeks. Who knows?!

LINABE · 19/03/2020 09:58

From my Dr - strongest indication you have COVID19 -
Temperature
Dry cough

Angelle84 you say in your post you will. "go in somewhere" if you dont feel better.
You are not to "go in" ANYWHERE. Are you not understanding the seriousness of what you have just said?

Orangeblossom78 · 19/03/2020 10:04

I have seen this test online which is a finger prick test. Any thoughts?

www.alphabiolabs.co.uk/workplace-testing-services/coronavirus-testing-kit/

Also please can we leave off the shaming / telling people off, this has been a kind a supportive thread so far.

Orangeblossom78 · 19/03/2020 10:05

I see it was about going in to a docs etc, yes I already said please don;t do this, ring instead.

tempestterra · 19/03/2020 10:30

Thank you for making this post. How are you feeling today? And I'm sorry for everything you've been through Thanks

I'm not sure what day I'm on, as last Thursday I started getting really odd sensations, complete opposite of a hot flush, more like an icy wave washing over me. And feeling really light headed.

Yesterday had a headache from hell, but I get bad headaches so didn't think too much of it. Then started getting feverish feelings, but not running a temp.
Then the burning in the lungs and up the tracheae started, and a really tight band around my chest like a bra three sizes too small.
Much the same today, but intermittent cough, and fever which comes and goes. I'm sure this is CV-19. I've had flu, I've had colds, but never had anything like this.

Hope you are all staying safe Daffodil

LINABE · 19/03/2020 10:37

I'm not shaming anyone and I will "tell someone off " if they are being irresponsible and saying they will "go out and get help if they dont feel better. " That could pass the disease on - and to the medical profession too.
