My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

Oh and tons of aches/pains plus breathless - could never catch a 'full' breath if you know what I mean.

user1498572889 · 18/03/2020 17:52

How are you OP?

longshot · 18/03/2020 18:27

Sorry just seeing these now. I spoke to 111 today as I’m getting pains in my chest around my heart and was concerned.

They’re trying to organise for me to have an ECG and blood tests to rule out something with my heart. I think it’s unlikely but the pains are there.

I feel marginally better now other than the chest ache and pains, headache reduced, fever down, cough minimal and aches still there but less intense. I’m really hoping things are easing up and I don’t go to another ‘stage’.

This is one horrible virus.

Oh and by the way 111 dr said all these symptoms match coronavirus so I’m pretty confident this is what I have now for those still wondering.

eeehbyegum · 18/03/2020 18:42

@longshot what day are you on illness wise? Are you breathless too? Good test is taking a big breath in, and holding for 10 seconds.

longshot · 18/03/2020 18:46

Thank you @eeehbyegum.

I can do 10 seconds just! I’m on day 7 possibly 8 if I count a mild sore throat.

My symptoms are lessening but my chest is hurting a lot (breathing not so bad). I wouldn’t have asked to be checked but they suggested it due to pains but not sure when it will be.

eeehbyegum · 18/03/2020 18:54

@longshot get checked. The minimal reports of those that had it severely and recovered suggest you have mild cold/flu symptoms, feel better, then full flu symptoms, feel better, followed by full on lung issues.

Moknicker · 18/03/2020 18:58

My son now has a fever. Im pretty convinced this is CV now.

YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus · 18/03/2020 18:58

My gp said yesterday she thinks I've had it. Took 3 weeks for the burning and heavy “rock solid” lungs to ease. Hang in there and look after yourself.

YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus · 18/03/2020 19:01

@nearlyrev there was a bad flu going round at Christmas, I ended up with pleurisy and a punctured lung, was almost February before I recovered. The death rate from unexplained viral pneumonia didn’t spike in the way you’d expect it to if it was here in December.

nearlyrev · 18/03/2020 19:27

Perhaps! Perhaps not. Who knows! All I know is I've never experienced anything like it and neither has my Gran (whom as I've already said has been through a lot in her 76 years!)

tangledyarn · 18/03/2020 19:38

@eehbyehgum That's exactly the pattern mine has taken! On the lung bit now..left lung feels very achey and heavy and full, but no coughing anymore, am breathless and wheezy.

MrsSlocombesPussy · 18/03/2020 19:39

The 10 second hold your breath thing is a hoax

findingschools4myboys · 18/03/2020 19:42

Oh no. The 10 second breath hold made me feel much better!

coronade · 18/03/2020 19:53

I watched the last YouTube video the English couple on the cruise ship did. They are still in hospital in Japan but recovering well. He was very ill and nearly at the point of being put on a respirator. He didn’t want this so started doing a breathing exercise for his lungs. His saturation’s really improved in just one day. Thought it was worth posting a link. It’s very easy to do.

Yabadee · 18/03/2020 19:57

Joining! On day 2 of symptoms.

Monday night, randomly went roasting hot, face felt warm and i was dizzy. My heart went crazy. Temp was 38.1. Took some paracetamol and went to bed.

Yesterday, felt fine when I woke but had the cough. Was on the phone to MIL video chatting and she said oh your face is going red. I was feeling warm again so took my temp. 38.3 this time. I called GP as I have underlying conditions and had a telephone consultation. He says it defo sounds like it, but not to be concerned too much as my condition isn’t one that seems to accelerate it. Paracetamol and isolate.

Temp went away with paracetamol and hasn’t returned today! But god the chest pain. It doesn’t even feel like my lungs it feels like I’ve been hit by a car and it’s bruised me. Coughing make it’s worse. I drunk the last of a bottle of Benadryl chest cough and that relieved it a bit, as is lemsip. Getting vicks and more cough bottle delivered tomorrow. Got a dehumidifier and olbus oil in my room for bedtime, but will take anymore tips going for easing the pain!

DD started coughing a bit today earlier. Half hoping she gets it now with me and we get it over with while already in isolation!

hollieberrie · 18/03/2020 20:17

Agree, the chest pain is AWFUL. Truly frightening at points.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 18/03/2020 20:19

Is anyone on day 9 or passed day 9?

SallyWD · 18/03/2020 20:38

I've actually been having symptoms for about 3 weeks. The strange thing is they come and go. I have a few days of feeling ill then I'm better for a few days then ill again and so on.... But when I've been ill it's with a tight, sore chest, sore throat, headaches, aches and pains. It's very frustrating. I feel like it will go on forever. If it is CV then I comfort myself that if I was going to get seriously ill it would have happened by now.

Oldmrswasherwoman · 18/03/2020 20:42

I am totally confused as to whether I may have this or not. No temp, no cough, maybe a tiny bit sore throaty, but have been intermittently breathless since Sunday and getting worse - its like I need a really deep
breath in but its not satisfying enough. Its worse in the evening, gasping for a deep breath probably once every 2 minutes. I am working from home and we are all isolating so not moving much, I have just got out of breath walking upstairs with the wash basket... not needed painkillers but can't bear to have a bra on and chest hurts a bit.
I had put it all down to anxiety (though I've never really had physical symptoms before, I've also not been caught up in a terrifying global pandemic before!)
Can this be it?

VivaLeBeaver · 18/03/2020 22:13

Has anyone else got the weird upper back/between the shoulder blade pain, worse on breathing in?

My symptoms so far;
Diahorrhea (now stopped)
Sore throat
Tight chest
Weird upper back ache
General ache all over like I’ve been weight lifting
Can’t take a deep breath in, feel slightly breathless, weird pressure on chest/heavyness
Tired.

No cough. I felt hot earlier, but not now.

I’ve been in Prolonged contact with a now confirmed case last week.

BiNgOoOo · 18/03/2020 22:39

@VivaLeBeaver I had that back pain exactly as you described. Also tight chest but to be honest put that down to anxiety. Slight sore throat and very tired but no other symptoms

hollieberrie · 18/03/2020 22:41

I feel rough Confused Spoke way too soon about being better. Get well soon everyone. Surely we'll be immune after we get through this? 🤞

Enough4me · 18/03/2020 22:53

Day 1 for me, I thought i was heartburn in the morning-midday, but my go to Gaviscon liquid did not touch it and it has radiated across my chest and been getting heavier and burning more, with a raised temperature (reduced with paracetamol). I am self-isolating with DC and thanks to prepper boards I bought a small amount of additional food and will be fine and no stress to try to buy anything now.

I have to admit hearing it can take weeks of this is a bit of a worry.

lifestooshortandsoami · 18/03/2020 23:05

I’m so glad I read this- you’ve described how I’ve been feeling for the past 10 days! The chest pain/ and into my back has been awful and I have asthma which I’m struggling with. Also had high temp briefly and the dry cough, along with sore throat and headchar, aching all over. Kept thinking it was going away and it comes back on.
I honestly thought i was going mad as originally when i contacted the doctors I was just told ‘it’s a virus’ and told to carry on as normal- but this was just as all guidance was changing.
I’m now on steroids for my asthma and hoping it’ll improve.
Thank you again to everyone who’s commented and shared about this as I’ve not seen anyone else mention the horrid chest pains

lifestooshortandsoami · 18/03/2020 23:07

@Oldmrswasherwoman I’m exactly how you describe except I’ve also had sore throat, cough etc.
I kept telling myself I was imaging the chest/ back aching and breathlessness for w good few days and also thought could be anxiety/ but it’s gone on way too long and Ian affecting my asthma now too
