My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

Keys. If it is Covid I think most viral spread is before symptoms and the first five days. Spread reduces a lot after the five days

Thanks Claire

I thought this might interest you all (not scary article by woman in mid 30s who had very similar in Seattle) - she says many of her friends had just the same kind of thing...

Hope everyone is well.
Flowers to all feeling poorly today.

My temp is up again it's 37.9 So more paracetamol for me.

I did believe I was on day 3 but I've been thinking about that.
I have had a tight chest for 3 days. Hence me thinking I was on day 3.

But I realise it can't be day 3 because breathing problems with this virus don't normally start till day 5.
This means I am probably on day 8.
I had a fever sometime last week which I had forgotten about - I remember waking up in the night soaking in sweat. This must been the beginning, and not the day my weird chest pain/back ache /headache started.
Signs of a sore throat and cough were there before the chest pain but they were so mild I hadn't registered them.

So far my chest has been my main concern and I felt quite breathless with it last night.
Throat and cough are still there but mild.
My throat isn't really sore - just a tickle really.
I do have a cough which is dry but I'm not coughing all the time.

Not more fatigued than usual but feeling tired is normal for me because of my low B12.

hollieberrie · 18/03/2020 10:53

Sorry to hear of people feeling anxious and poorly, i hope you all get better soon.

Day 6 for me. I'm in London.
I felt very worried on Monday night and yesterday during the day but pleased to report I'm feeling better now. Only symptoms are mild chest tightness and heartburn (much better than it was), flushed face, mild dry cough. I really hope this is the end of it.

This thread has really helped me, sending best wishes to all. Mad times at the moment.

  • Another Cheshire.
SugarButterFlour · 18/03/2020 11:18

Southeast here. I've had the tight chest - but no pain - for a few days. Also had the horrible metallic taste last week, along with a blinding headache and brain fog. Muscles are a bit more tired than usual. No cough or fever.

alloutoffucks · 18/03/2020 11:22

@Orangeblossom78 Thanks. That makes it clear that neither I or most people on this thread have CV. We have another type of bug.

Alwaystwomagpies · 18/03/2020 11:45

Interesting that gov site shows that outside the SE and London, west kids and NW are next biggest hit which sort of seems to be borne out on here?

spydie · 18/03/2020 11:50

Noticed a weird ache in my chest yesterday and it's definitely here today. Absolutely freaking out as attended a funeral yesterday with only very close relatives but 2 absolutely cannot get this, including my dad. No temperature, no cough.

ShastaBeast · 18/03/2020 12:06

My OH is starting with the heartburn feeling, he never gets heartburn. I do but take omeprazole and still get the feeling when usually it’s effective. Asthma is worse and small amount of coughing brings up mucus, but that’s normal for asthma. No fever. I’ll see how OH is feeling later, he’s not asthmatic and doesn’t have pains as the norm unlike me. We are in London and I was out and on the tube ten days ago and in a homeless shelter with people from Italy and elsewhere.

pipsqueak77 · 18/03/2020 12:50

I'm starting to get a bit concerned.. had a cold for couple of weeks so assumed I had a head cold but now have a slight sore throat, had a few coughs, hot face feeling... no temp or burning lungs though but it feels like I'm struggling to swallow sometimes if that makes sense... bit tired but that's nothing new. More concerned about my kids, I took them out of school today as I WFH and I have obviously been very close to them/nighttime kisses etc. Trying to steer a bit away now but worried if it is CV I would have passed it on. Unless I got it from them in the first place... anyway, watching this thread with interest, I'm in Cheshire too x

findingschools4myboys · 18/03/2020 13:03

Updating from earlier. Temperature spiked couple of hours ago to 37.9. Incredibly tired, legs and bum muscles ache just from sitting on them and my skin feels like it has a sunburn. Neck sore, slight headache and still the lovely pressured chest with need to take deep breaths.
My hubby who felt poorly yesterday and is actually coughing said he feels okay right now 🤔

Redwinestillfine · 18/03/2020 13:05

I am now feeling sick with mine and headaches....

Moknicker · 18/03/2020 13:13

Adding myself to this thread. Im in the US. I think im on day 7.
I started with a sore throat on Day, little bit of heartburn feeling. headache. Back pain
Day 6: Chest pressure is more persistent. It more like a dull ache than a burning feeling.

Day 7: Same
No fever, no coughing.

PatsyStone39 · 18/03/2020 13:16

I've got up today and don't feel like I can breathe at all. My left lung is aching and it feels collapsed, though I highly doubt it is. I've been on hold to nhs24 for an hour and I'm getting scared now.

user34254356 · 18/03/2020 13:18

London here, day 5 of dry tingly cough which only appears during the day, nothing at night. Today feel bit of chest tightening. No fever but face feels flushed and warm, achey muscles and metallic taste in mouth.

user34254356 · 18/03/2020 13:19

Oh no patsy. Is it worth ringing an ambulance if you feel you can't breathe?

notangelinajolie · 18/03/2020 13:32

Took paracetamol for high temp and it carried on rising to 38.3 Shock
Opened a few windows and had a cool bath and now it's 37.3. Phew!
I will be taking more paracetamol in 4 hours, not waiting until it's gone up again.
Bath has helped my breathing too and I feel much more refreshed. Just wish I could muster up the energy to find the hairdryer.
Onwards and upwards.
Remember each hour is an hour nearer to getting better.

PatsyStone39 · 18/03/2020 13:38

Use342 I dont know what to do. Part of me is saying I need to been seen and the other part of me thinks 999 is too extreme. But it's a gamble....will I get better or will I get worse?

I'm going to hang on to NHS24 for as long as it takes them to pick up. If they don't, I may not have a choice but to go to A&E. Are they even allowing walk-ins?

PatsyStone39 · 18/03/2020 13:38

Ps I'm in the area of the UK where this all started.

findingschools4myboys · 18/03/2020 13:47

Patsy
Can you take a breath and hold it for 10 seconds? Are you able to talk without getting out of breath?
Is 111 the same as NHS24?

Orangeblossom78 · 18/03/2020 13:54

Allabout thing is it seems to be different in people so hard to tell maybe just from the article.

My DH was ill at the same time and totally different to me, much worse 9then i have read women tend to get it milder due to immune systems)- he was coughing up horrible stuff, couldn't get out of bed for days, very high temp, which did come down in time) but his was very different to me

I have also seen cases of people diagnosed having from no symptoms at all, to just a cold type thing...the full spectrum really

Flowers to all those ill

Orangeblossom78 · 18/03/2020 13:55

If they don't, I may not have a choice but to go to A&E. Are they even allowing walk-ins?

Don't do this! Prefereable to ring 999, they could send paramedics out to you. But don;t just turn up at hospital / GP

Our GP rang us back within 15 mins when we left a message there, too

PatsyStone39 · 18/03/2020 14:03

I won't go to A&E then. I tried my Gp first but was told they would only speak to me if nhs24 ruled out Corona. Feeling a bit in the dark with it all.

I'm still on hold. Still struggling. I can hold my breath but it hurts my chest and left lung. When I'm talking I'm sort of gasping.
