My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

So baffling,
I’ve had itchy eyes, sore throat over weekend,
Last night I felt achey, sore joints, worse sore throat, headache, tired,
No temp
This morning I have sore throat, soreness goes down to between boobs, achey, headache,
No temp, occasional cough.
I’m staying off work (just in case - I’m a nurse) but when I do the 111 assessment it says unlikely to be CV 🤔

longshot · 18/03/2020 08:49

I’m also in Cheshire, day 7 for me

findingschools4myboys · 18/03/2020 08:58

Am in London. Think today is roughly day 8 if based on the only day I had a temperature. Would say tight chest and lethargy became worse on day 5. Feel better today than on day 5. Was needing to get air from the window on several occasions and very breathless on day 5. Kept trying to yawn to get deep breaths.

Interesting thread. I had the burning chest feeling yesterday afternoon/evening. I said to DH it feels like that raw feeling when you’ve had to run a long distance in the cold weather. A bit like heartburn. I was also very tired and went to sleep early, woke this morning with a cough. Would say I cough hard once every 5 mins, would people say that is bad enough?

Have a forehead thermometer which shows a low fever but don’t think they are very reliable.

Going to self isolate anyway to be on the safe side.

longshot · 18/03/2020 09:07

@codeorange yes my cough is similar

Orangeblossom78 · 18/03/2020 09:11

Here to report that after a couple of weeks like this, today am feeling definitely a bit better, chest improved, still bit of a headache and tired, but yes better.

I have noticed many of us seem to not have had the high temp / ongoing cough mentioned as signs though. Interesting. My DH did though.

Hoping you all feel better soon, we can get through this Flowers

Orangeblossom78 · 18/03/2020 09:12

And yes I totally relate to it feeling like heartburn but in the lungs.

Orangeblossom78 · 18/03/2020 09:13

I'm in the south west, but we had this after returning from half term skiing in France, in the alps, driving there and back.

Broadwayb · 18/03/2020 09:15

Also in Cheshire. If I go from when the mild sore throat started I’m on around day 12. If I go from one episode of very high temperature that came and went within an hour I’m on day 25 but that’s probably unrelated as no symptoms after that for over 10 days . Burning lungs/sore chest/tiredness/mild headache here. Seems like a very mild cough may be starting this morning. I don’t feel ill with it, just wiped out.

Broadwayb · 18/03/2020 09:15

And yes - feels like mild heartburn but in slightly the wrong place for me too.

Orangeblossom78 · 18/03/2020 09:18

A PP did mention their GP felt it was characteristics for a healthy person to have such symptoms, further back in the thread omg

However we'll never know, which is frustrating. DH and I had the flu vaccine however, although I know that does not cover all strains.

willdoitinaminute · 18/03/2020 09:19

Currently have these symptoms and self isolating but have no cough. NHS111 is cough OR fever. If you have a fever you should be self isolating.

Alwaystwomagpies · 18/03/2020 09:39

@wetesttheotherones
That is exactly what I would like to know
I’ve been googling symptoms in confirmed cases from China and they are definitely including a sore throat as a common symptom

If I had a fever then all my symptoms together would be a no brainer big I haven’t had that at all.
Aside the weird chest pains and intermittent needing to catch my breath I’d say it’s just a head cold/sore throat.

PonderTweek · 18/03/2020 09:43

I might join in, if that's ok. I'm trying to work out if we have it or not and would appreciate any input in case anyone has experienced anything similar.

My 3-year-old son had a virus two-ish weeks ago. He had an unusually (for him) high temp for about 5 days, then bounced back albeit he's still a bit tired. A week ago I developed a sore throat which rapidly turned pretty severe and I thought I had tonsillitis. I have just spent 5 days in bed with a fever of over 38C, chills, body aches, headache, the dread etc. I also had red and white spots in my throat. Basically it felt like the flu but with tonsillitis. The fever has started to come down but I'm left with utterly ridiculous coughing fits and my chest is a bit tight and wheezy. I still reckon it might just be tonsillitis, however, my husband has had shortness of breath, pleurisy and lethargy the last couple of days. Hmm We've all had the flu jab.

We've not seen anyone for weeks because we are hermits, but we did receive an email from my son's nursery this morning saying that a number of their staff are self isolating, and I'm wondering if this was actually Covid and my son picked it up from the nursery. Confused It's so annoying that we'll never know for sure!

Anyway, I hope everyone suffering feels better very soon. Thank you all for updating this thread. Flowers

Orangeblossom78 · 18/03/2020 09:49

I'm not medically trained, but it says here coronaviruses can cause tonsilitis, more info here. Maybe the GP could help advice further? We had a good experience ringing the GP and asking for a call back recently. www.docdoc.com.sg/info/condition/tonsillitis/

Aurea · 18/03/2020 09:55

Has anyone called 111 for these symptoms to see what they say?

I have chest pressure and burning sensation above bra line, going through to between shoulder blades. Swollen glands and a very minor lumpy throat.

I also feel a bit wobbly but no temp or coughing.

What do you all think?

PonderTweek · 18/03/2020 09:59

Thanks Orangeblossom. Smile My husband knows a few doctors and he asked them, and they said that they would assume it's Covid and I would have to self isolate, which is what we have been doing for ages now, luckily. It really is impossible to tell without a test, isn't it?

alloutoffucks · 18/03/2020 10:03

I have had these symptoms very mildly, they are coming to an end now, and was in work at the peak of them. My workplace now has us wfh. If this really is CV, and I am not convinced, then a lot of us will be spreading it unknowingly.

Orangeblossom78 · 18/03/2020 10:05

Yes it is so tricky to know, not fitting the criteria of cough and high temp is and having no test...what can we do? The GP did ask my DH if we had been to Italy but as it was France didn't get tested (DH was iller than me)

balonzz · 18/03/2020 10:09

Joining here to say I have had tight chest, at bra level (in fact I thought maybe I had gained weight and my bras were too tight) for around 5 days. Also, yawning a lot to try to get more air. No other symptoms. Wondering is this the beginning of the illness for me, or is it as bad as it will get or if it isn't anything at all in the first place. I'm in London.
Speedy recovery to everyone.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 18/03/2020 10:09

@longshot I’m on day 9 and have really similar symptoms to yours. Finding it heard to get out of bed as I’m so tired, and chest feels like someone’s smacked me with a sledge hammer. I haven’t gotten any worse, and I haven’t gotten any better. Stuck in limbo.

I’m in Surrey

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 18/03/2020 10:10

By the way, if the symptoms last longer than 14 days does that mean the rest of house has to be in quarantine with you?

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 18/03/2020 10:11

South Wales day 14. I work from home and a bit of a hermit anyway. Pretty sure I caught this at a massive international show at the NEC ( not Crufts!!). She was ill first with a mild temperature headache and a weird chest heaviness for a few days. I have suffered worse as I am in the at risk category.
