My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

Day 4 over. It's at a steady or slowly declining level. Am finding the house arrest frustrating even though I work from home half the time anyway.I'd like to be out doing all the things that... are shut down now.

omgsamehere · 18/03/2020 00:47

Same for me. Mild chest pain with burning sensation. No sore throat - more like losing voice, heaviness in chest - after night out smoking/drinking feeling. And the annoying back discomfort between shoulderblades.

No cough. No headaches. No fever.

Has anyone confirmed that this is consistent with CV?

HackAttack · 18/03/2020 00:50

I'm self-isolated, feels like someone is sitting on my chest, terrified

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 18/03/2020 00:51

My understanding is that some people get it more mildly than others and some have next to no symptoms.

You can have a mild fever and low temperature too with C-19.

defthand · 18/03/2020 00:57

Lots of love and good wishes to all of you.

To the people saying 80% of tests were negative, bear in mind most of those tests were done months or weeks ago, before we had widespread community transmission. In theory, it ought to be kicking off pretty hard now, and the big spike in confirmed hospital cases supports that.

But it could still be a normal cold/flu of course.

clairethewitch70 · 18/03/2020 01:00

Just entering day 14. Still mildly breathless. Worried I have developed the severe complications and will be dead within a few days. Anxiety making it worse and I gave infected my DM 82 who lives with us. Feel sense of doom

Keep faith - you’re not going to die. Am rooting for you.

wherestheotherone · 18/03/2020 02:49

Has anybody had these symptoms without a cough or fever and tested positive for cv? This what we need to know.

Still don't know if we should isolate? We don't have the symptoms required to isolate but I also don't want to be complacent for the sake of others.

Just woken up my limbs hurting, feeling very weak and floppy but still no cough or fever.

It's very different, it's not cold, it's in my chest and back - but at the moment I've taken no paracetamol as I don't need it.

It feels strange that I don't feel dreadful after all the hype.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/03/2020 06:22

Bearing in mind you can test positive with ZERO symptoms (Idris Elba!) I think it's wise to be cautious. But, as a PP said, don't be paranoid.

I'm WFH from tomorrow, thankfully. The trains are already dead though, it has to be said (full banks of 4 seats empty at rush hour).

HanaHeya · 18/03/2020 06:34

Following with same experience

Maisieme · 18/03/2020 06:56

My husband has woken up with a very dry mouth for no particular reason, is this a symptom?

SallyWD · 18/03/2020 07:02

@whetestheotherone That's what I want to know! I have a very sore burning chest, sore throat, I'm tired and achey. I have no fever or cough so apparently not CV according to 111 online. I've had a lifetime of throat infections but never experienced anything like this. Really not sure what to do! At the moment I'm not self isolating because I don't have those 2 symptoms. I'm going to try and call my doctor for advice.

findingschools4myboys · 18/03/2020 07:07

I am going to join in.
Was around someone coughing last week - but that person often coughs so didn’t think much of it.
Had slightly elevated temp (not considered fever but more than I usually have) of 37.4 on tue. Then on Wednesday evening had 37.8 but by thu morning it was 37.1 and I decided to stop taking my temp as it was making me paranoid. I would say from last Wednesday I felt like I had slight pressure on my chest and had to take a deep breath every now and then. Friday am struggled to wake up - was very heavy. And I usually am bright alert at 5-6 am! Then by Saturday started getting on and off lethargy which has continued up until now along with the tight chest and occasional breathlessness. I am usually quite fit but going up one flight of stairs in our house leaves me having to catch my breath. Throat becoming a bit raw couple of days ago and started having to clear a little bit of mucous. Have an occasional tickle in throat but nothing making me cough throughout the day.
Hubby said on Monday he had a blocked nose and tickly throat that was making him cough then by yesterday cough more persistent and temp elevated slightly and then he said he started feeling a tight chest with a bit of breathlessness.
I am presuming hubby and I have the same thing but he has a cough and I don’t.
I have ordered a Covid test that should arrive today. Think it takes roughly 5 days to get answer so I will get back to you all with an update.

HanaHeya · 18/03/2020 07:08

How did you order the test @findingschools?

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 18/03/2020 07:15

I’ve had this for the last three days. I’m still required to go into work (teaching) because no persistent cough and no fever. Just feels like someone is sat on my chest and have a burning sensation. Nothing I can’t manage, normal breathing etc. I also thought hay fever or something else.

BiNgOo · 18/03/2020 07:30

@findingschools4myboys how did you order the test? It would be really good to know the results as I have had similar and also dd. Hope you feel better soon, please do keep us updated regarding results.

omgsamehere2 · 18/03/2020 07:35

Woke up with same heavy chest feeling called 111 and asked to be tested. They will evaluate and call back within 48hrs.

Hopefully its not CV - so much stuff to get done!!!

TheGirlFromStoryville · 18/03/2020 07:38

Interesting so many have had similar symptoms.
Mine started about 2 weeks ago and assumed I was getting a cold.
Intermittent chills and fever, sore throat, chest tightness and felt like my bra was much too tight, tender and swollen glands, and body aches.

No cough though so assumed not CV. Feel okay now but still tired.

Onemorehitandillcrumble · 18/03/2020 07:46

question a ridiculous one I know
Have you stuck a note on the door saying you are self isolating & to ring the bell & leave deliveries/shout through the door?

TakeANote · 18/03/2020 08:09

Advice is to only self isolate with a cough, so no.

OneOfTheGrundys · 18/03/2020 08:12

Harley St drs doing private tests, delivered then collected £350 odd each. Saw it in the Mail.

longshot · 18/03/2020 08:15

I've just woken up and can see lots of people who sound like I was a few days ago asking ‘can this really be CV’.

I’m on day 7, I think I’ve got mild pneumonia now (chest pains as well as the ache, feel a bit like I’m drowning if I lie on my back). Slight fever, headache, can’t get out of bed.

I spoke to my GP yesterday who said this sounds very much like it’s CV. If I get worse breathing wise I’m calling 111.

I don’t want to scare people It’s just that those who aren’t isolating probably should be (I was same, no fever and only slight cough) so I was really questioning if I needed to. Im now glad I did.

Sadly haven’t isolated from my family so they will have it although as yet aren’t showing many symptoms. DH a bit sniffly and achey.

longshot · 18/03/2020 08:16

What I would really like to know from those that have got to the stage I’m at now (in bed, still aching, chest pain and ache) can you tell me what happened next? I am terrified today.

I know some of you say you’ve been like this for 12-14 days, has anyone started to improve / feel better? I’m scared.

stayathomegardener · 18/03/2020 08:24

Adding myself to the list.

Weird throat turned into weird burning lungs just at bra height.

No temperature, no coughing.

No other symptoms beyond fatigue.

I think it would be really helpful on this thread to say what area you are in and how long you have had it.

I'M IN CHESHIRE AND ITS DAY 6.

I'm not ringing 111 or GP for advice but am really interested in any advice others receive.

We really should be tested as this seems very widespread and on paper we don't seem to need to self isolate.
