My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

I'm finding it difficult to breathe. Have a cough. Not sure if its continuous if I cough 1-2X every hour or so.

I'm not self isolating though as I have to work. I can't wait 5 weeks for a benefits payment or take out their loan

Onemorehitandillcrumble · 17/03/2020 22:19

@ArthurMorgan have you heard from them yet? I can’t believe she took him to A & E, I hope they contained them ASAP & he will be ok

Onemorehitandillcrumble · 17/03/2020 22:22

Realistically what were all describing is probably another virus doing the rounds

The one the 40k+ people who tested negative probably had/have?

God I really hope so. DH is v high risk & likely wouldn’t survive. You have just given me a touch of hope. Thanks

MajesticWhine · 17/03/2020 22:26

@SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe - do you have a source for that?
I have no cough and so I have been telling myself it's not CV.

Jezebel101 · 17/03/2020 22:27

Over 80% of people who are convinced enough that they have it to get tested, are testing negative.

The majority of people in this thread who are convinced its probably CVD just have a bug. Be cautious, but don't be paranoid.

ShastaBeast · 17/03/2020 22:28

The 40k people tested included contact tracing of confirmed cases and people returning from hotspots and those quarantined. Whole planes may have been tested for example. They probably didn’t have any symptoms, we know they can be asymptotic anyway.

ShastaBeast · 17/03/2020 22:29

People with symptoms but without travel or contact tracing have not been tested. Unless in hospital.

clitterratti · 17/03/2020 22:33

I feel a burning chest feeling. I thought it was heartburn but it won't stop. I'm freaking out. I just had a stillbirth a month ago. I can't deal with this.

FelineUK · 17/03/2020 22:33

Same feeling of tightness.. slightly more out of breath than normal as I'm fat too; dry cough but not persistent, no fever, voice sometimes croaky if I speak too much.. been like this since last Friday.

Littleninja1 · 17/03/2020 22:41

@angell84 how are you today? Flowers

tangledyarn · 17/03/2020 22:42

@arthurmorgan I've had these symptoms for 12 days and still very wheezy/painful so had a phone appt with my GP today, and it seemed like that was appropriate.

wherestheotherone · 17/03/2020 22:42

This is amazing. Dh thinks I'm paranoid but I know I'm not as I have no cough or temp but my chest is tight and heavy and burning right down my lungs, through my asphagus and into my back. My neck and shoulders aches and I'm very tired but that's normal due to a busy life.

I just thought it was asthma and hayfever related. I'm very anxious so blamed that as well.

wherestheotherone · 17/03/2020 22:43

Do I self isolate when I have no cough or fever?

yummychocolate · 17/03/2020 22:49

On Saturday night I started with chills, headache, aching body and sore throat. No fever or persistent cough so I haven't been isolating. Tonight my chest feels heavy. Now I'm wondering if it's cv. Dh thinks it's anxiety.

Superbrew · 17/03/2020 22:55

I have also had an extremely tight painful chest, where i started getting paranoid I had heart disease , also googled anxiety as it just happened with no build up. Next day had slight sore throat day after started dry coughing , aches and pains in legs and arms slight fever and a really weird taste - can only describe as off gas. I had a few days of thinking I had a chest infection, worried I had walking pneumonia on Sunday because of pains in chest . But on monday I suddenly felt better still have dry cough, very tired and got out of breath after walking. It's been 2 weeks now.

I havent sneezed once , no runny nose just a dry cough and slight fever however I have felt wiped out and just want to sleep.
This thread has been an eye opener, I'm in Birmingham. I dont see how it can possibly just be another virus. I've never had anything like this before. It wasnt terriblebut was different, especially the pains in chest

I've also had back pains I thought maybe from coughing?

Alwaystwomagpies · 17/03/2020 23:03

Oh wow finding this thread is fascinating

I started with a burning central chest 8 days ago and a sensation of a racing heart and weird episodes of not being able to catch my breath.
It has persisted right up to now and I assumed it was anxiety and/or heartburn. It comes and goes.

Yesterday I started with a watery nose and mildly sore throat and today I have a dry cough and a headache.
Still got the burning chest pain ( I am eating gaviscon and couldnt decide if they were helping)

No fever (have checked) and not unduly unwell. I haven’t felt the need to take paracetamol for any of the symptoms.

I’ve still been able to exercise fine so assumed it was a mild cold.

Not sure at all now reading this unless we all have the same cold?

It’s the burning chest that seems so weird. But I would have discounted all of it until the cough started tonight and that is day 8-9 for me.

Friendsofmine · 17/03/2020 23:07

The NHS have a table to compare symptoms of flu, cold and coronavirus. If you are sneezing and have a runny nose it is very unlikely to be Covid.

TakeANote · 17/03/2020 23:08

I do wonder if we all might just be terrified...

Bentoforthehorde · 17/03/2020 23:11

Also experiencing the same thing here, came on the back of a cold.
Chest symptoms started about 7 days ago, no real cough.
Very interesting to stumble across this thread.
I assumed it was the start of a chest infection but not coughing etc like I would. Feels a bit like being smothered if I lie down, panicking in the night a little.

angell84 · 17/03/2020 23:13

I read an article that said that there are two types going around:

Normal coronavirus and
Deadly coronavirus

OP posts:
alloutoffucks · 17/03/2020 23:28

I think this is just an ordinary flu type virus. Unless you have a cough or fever it is unlikely to be cv.

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 18/03/2020 00:11

Source re absence of cough is WHO.

This article links to the report but it is broken down simply here too:

www.webmd.com/lung/news/20200310/know-the-symptoms-of-covid19

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 18/03/2020 00:13

Taken from above article:

Here are the most common symptoms and the percentage of people who had them:

Fever: 88%
Dry cough: 68%
Fatigue: 38%
Coughing up sputum, or thick phlegm, from the lungs: 33%
Shortness of breath: 19%
Bone or joint pain: 15%
Sore throat: 14%
Headache: 14%
Chills: 11%
Nausea or vomiting: 5%
Stuffy nose: 5%
Diarrhea: 4%
Coughing up blood: 1%
Swollen eyes: 1%

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 18/03/2020 00:14

So as you can see it is entirely possible not to be presenting with a cough and have this....

alloutoffucks · 18/03/2020 00:17

Okay but it is cough and/or fever. A lot of people like me have various symptoms, but neither of these.
