My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

Hmmm thanks yearof. It just feels mild that’s all. But quite different to a cold somehow. No sneezing, no sniffles, just a bit toxic and run down somehow!

Orangeblossom78 · 17/03/2020 20:01

I have found these things called honey suckers cough sweets help a bit with the sore throat and yes the flu type tablets you get in shops with paracetamol and something for congestion. they say no ibuprofen. and things like warm baths are relaxing

Orangeblossom78 · 17/03/2020 20:02

manuka honey in the sweets

Ventilatorshortage · 17/03/2020 20:10

Its running rampant out there.

Do mine sound more like menaosuse!

Ventilatorshortage · 17/03/2020 20:11

I'm feeling shivery but no temp?

Katkincake · 17/03/2020 20:16

My back pains are back, down in kidney area and I’ve got the flushed cheeks, but no temperature (it’s 36.6c), feeling again. Sounds as if I have it given so many of us are all presenting with the same symptoms?

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 17/03/2020 20:34

@longshot Thanks for updating the thread with what your GP advised. Is this day 7 for you then? I’m on day 8 - woke up feeling slightly better but now the pains in my lungs have come back and I’m exhausted again. Can’t wait to feel normal again.

itsgettingweird · 17/03/2020 20:44

I've had this too.

Thought it was my hay fever.

Right chest and pain across bra line. One evening temp of 37.5 (tested because I felt flushed) but normal other than that one time.

Every now and again breathing through my mouth 'catches'. I seem to be taking very heavy but full lung breaths and any exercise leave me breathless. I'm trying to breathe through my nose!

Is this really CV?

cologne4711 · 17/03/2020 20:45

Sounds as if I have it given so many of us are all presenting with the same symptoms

Or there could be another virus unhelpfully doing the rounds at the same time...

BlueJeansOn · 17/03/2020 20:47

I have a burning feeling in my chest and throat. Have a cough.

Have recovered from high temp.

Not sure if I have coronavirus, but am self-isolating.

BlueJeansOn · 17/03/2020 20:48

Have tight feeling by chest too.

longshot · 17/03/2020 20:48

@KeysDontBelongInTheFridge day 6 for me. Yes I am the same, wake up feeling a bit better, worse as the day progresses.

Whoever said tightness along bra line is bang on; I described it as like wearing a really tight sports bra all the time.

Interestingly I am a gym goer and for the last two weeks before being ill I have wondered if my sports bra is too tight (it’s not) but it must have been this coming on as I last went a couple of days before falling ill.

Haffiana · 17/03/2020 20:57

I also have these symptoms, sudden complete fatigue, pressure on chest, mild intermittent sore throat, ache in upper back, temperature mostly normal although I've had a couple of brief spikes and also a couple of real lows. I feel like I almost want to cough because of the tightness in my chest, but not quite. I have had this for more than 2 weeks now. I am in London - plenty of CV cases locally.

However I know it can't be CV because I am living with DH and two adult DC. None of them have shown any symptoms whatsoever.

Cailleach · 17/03/2020 20:58

I have the same symptoms but with a slight cough - I feel like I need to cough really hard but can only manage a weak one.

Very odd bug. Definitely not a cold. Have self isolated as probably safest. Had symptoms for nearly a week now.

Jezebel101 · 17/03/2020 21:08

I've had some shortness of breath and a very sore throat, a few aches and pains.

I note that symptoms of CVD19 are consistently described as fever, persistent cough, respiratory difficulty to some degree, and aches and pains. It's very unlikely that it's CV if one only has a sore throat and heavy chest. The fever seems to be a fairly consistent symptom, as does the cough.

If you're particularly anxious (and who isn't?) about the current situation, you might, like me, have some feelings of pressure in the upper chest. I am extremely anxious about the whole uncertain nature of our collective new normal. It's very easy to catastrophize in the middle of a catastrophe, but the odds of it being CV at this stage are still very low and it's important not to panic or make assumptions.

If you have any cold or flu symptoms, you must self isolate even if you feel it's overdoing it, to protect those most vulnerable. Because even though the risk of it being CV is low, one person with the infection will probably infect over a third of the people they come into close contact with as the SAR (secondary attack rate) is close to 36%. Close contact is being within a metre of someone for around ten minutes or more. That's people on the bus, in the supermarket queue, in the office, in the pub.

Don't panic, but don't take risks. Not just for your sake, but absolutely everyone elses too.

hollieberrie · 17/03/2020 21:08

Totally agree with it feeling toxic and like you are being poisoned. I feel like there's an intruder living in my lungs. Such a strange and unpleasant feeling. It's like a chemical burn almost. Ugh. I cant wait for it to be over! Hang in there everyone.

Inmyownlittlecorner · 17/03/2020 21:14

I’ve had a weird not painful, but uncomfortable sandy throat for about 3 days now. I’m starting to get breathless when I’m outside, my neck & chest are burning & I’ve got the chills but no temperature. I also need to cough but can’t actually do it. It’s exactly how the flu that knocked me out for the whole of December started. I’ve decided to put all of us in isolation (me, DH & 2DCs 10&7) after reading this thread just to be on the safe side.

ArthurMorgan · 17/03/2020 21:17

I have a question, if I self isolate for the given time and my chest is still bad but i have no fever / cough any more.. Can I go to my gp about my chest? Or do I need to call 111? I know 111 are balls deep at the moment so I'm reluctant.. such a simple thing but it's so confusing.

lazylinguist · 17/03/2020 21:37

Argh. I've not been right for over 2 weeks. Sore throat, glands up, then got conjunctivitis (which has largely gone, but my eyes get really tired and dry in the evening). Sore throat comes and goes. No cough, no fever. Not exactly breathless but tire really easily and am sort of conscious of a feeling in my lungs, though mild. Had a blood test because I thought it felt like glandular fever, but that's come back negative with just a bit of 'non-specific inflammation'. Could this really be CV?

HarryBlackberry1 · 17/03/2020 21:55

Pleased I've found this thread. I think I have it. I'm a few days in. Self isolating. Burning lungs, they feel toxic I agree, aches that are making me cry if I'm not dosed up on paracetamol, sore throat initially, fatigue, headache, diarrhoea, sickly feeling, was coughing non stop at the weekend. If it's not the virus I don't know what it is. Someone I work with has had the same and is now in hospital with pneumonia. I'm sure we'll find out if it is the virus. Please tell me it gets better.

iMoan7 · 17/03/2020 21:55

Sooo I thought I had tonsillitis.

Woke up today. Sore throat gone. Crackly chest. Fluey and achey all over and a slight cough. Feel ok with paracetamol though.

bluejelly · 17/03/2020 21:55

I have similar symptoms. Achy lungs. Sore throat since Friday. I wonder if this is mild CV? Am self-isolating for sure.

angell84 · 17/03/2020 22:10

I have the sore, dry eyes too

itsgettingweird · 17/03/2020 22:13

Realistically what were all describing is probably another virus doing the rounds.

The one the 40k+ people who tested negative probably had/have?

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 17/03/2020 22:14

A third of people get no cough.
